yep, i feel conned and rushed because it said until august 1st, so i tried to get that healer.

man, it seem so wrong to put in profession kits when that is companion pet.
so i just found out when i read this topic regarding the drop rate.

same tactic with STO when you want that exclusive ship.

You see, the point is that PWE wants to boost profession pack sales and puts a bonus on top of what you usually get if you buy a profession pack. So, this lottery was designed as an incentive for people to buy packs in order to boost the leveling of their professions. But the trick is that people immediately want that companion now and don't read between the lines.
Players have the chance to win that companion if they buy packs before August 1, but nothing is said about what is going to happen after August 1. And I am 110% positive that either this companion will be sold separately or put into nightmare/feywild lockbox.
If you need those assets and resources - buy the packs and be happy to get bars and even a companion on top of what you would normally receive. Otherwise, just wait it out 2 weeks and see.

5 tries on booster packs. I got a dragon egg so I'm okay. Rest are junk that can't even sell for a pittance. Saw on the AH the healer pet is going for 3M AD .. wow ...

It never ceases to amaze me how many dumb and rich people play this piece of HAMSTER game, and are willing to throw away hundreds of $ or millions of AD for a chance at a useless companion.

PWE/Cryptic's marketing department must get paid a lot more than their coders and game directors. The results are painfully obviously which employees are at the top of their game and which fail at their jobs.

Its amazing to me the amount of people who have such an obvious hatred for the game, yet some to the forums on a nearly daily basis. In the closet about your love for the game? Trying to be one of the cool kids hating on the game?

. . . . . I personally do wish they would do away with the locked boxes and just let us buy what we want directly from the cash shop. Hearing of such drop rates make me even less likely to try my hand at these, plus I've been burned on every box I've gotten in here and while trekking. I've never gotten the item I wanted from locked boxes.

Yep. Me too. At least make keys a rare drop or something off a boss... Something.. Anything...

Shady business = PWE business. They purposely try to trick people (a lot of whom are kids) into gambling away their money on virtual goods and set fake deadlines (limited/exclusive Founders packs) to entice more idiots to throw away their money faster.

This game is nothing but a cash grab (and they're still grabbing tons of it) from its inception. The companies behind it are the some of most immoral and unethical I've seen in the video game industry.

That's what people are asking, not necessarily what anyone will pay. The cheapest on Mindflayer right now is priced at half that, and there was another one slightly cheaper a couple of hours ago but it's gone now.

Also note that 1.5 million AD may not be such an extortionate price since we don't know yet how much upgrade tomes will be. This is ESPECIALLY true if the upgrade tomes are priced in the same (incomprehensible) fashion as the mount upgrades....

if its a 1 in 50 chance using the 300 zen packs thats an average pet cost of 15,000 zen. Zen price on dragon when typing this has gone back down to 343 (was 353) so thats 5,145,000 AD. So that 3mil AD price isn't so bad.

Lets put this in perspective though, 3 million AD is about 80 bucks or so, and 15k zen is 150 bucks. Is there really any companion in the game that is worth that much real cash? For that much money, it would need to be a game changer. Like a healing companion that actually doesn't die immediately in a boss fight and can actually replace a cleric (with good play and heal pots from the team).

or perhaps we figure the only way to fix the game is to drown out the tears fo white knights like you with enough complaints they eithger fix the game or start seeing losses in profits?

    Hardly.

Just because AD is far easier to get than zen, doesnt really excuse the fact that anyone stupid enough to spend 80 bucks on gambleboxes deserves to be penniless.

That is neglecting all the other items in the 50 packs that you could sell though.

1 does around 225 single target heals per sec and 150 AoE HPS (based on 25k HP and guessing that the AoE 1,4% max HP heal is 3 ticks)
So five of them means each member in the party has around 1000 heals per sec on them. Best case scenario is the AoE heal being 7 ticks, in that case it's 2000 HPS.
My 12,6k DC does somewhere around 2500 AoE heals per sec, but the most important thing is that the heals in the game are only patch heals, so this difference doesn't mean anything. What does matter however is that the DC can have 80-100% uptime of 30% dmg increase and damage resistance plus 67% uptime on 40% damage resistance. Now that combined damage resistance is what counts as "healing" in the game instead of the actual heals, and the pet doesn't do that.

This pet helps if you need it in levelling or foundry or have a subpar DC in dungeons. That is if it can be kept alive for long enough.
But it sure doesn't replace a DC, so don't worry, DCs are still better pets.

True but the money recouped from those other items is what make people ok with putting them up for that lower price.

She is pretty good too from what I have seen. Seems to do more damage than the existing striker companions plus decent heals (including aoe heals) plus causes mobs to take 20% more damage at max level.

Prices on those assets are bottoming out while the gamblers have their fun.

On the other hand, when this promotion ends, I stand to make out like a bandit....

Negative feedback by those who like playing is a pretty easy concept to understand if youre not seeing it as a black and white issue where it has to be love or it has to be hate, but cant be anything in between.

You see theres this huge gray area in between, where I can like playing a game, but not be in complete fanboi-love with every single aspect of it. I can then provide feedback about what would make my playing experience more fun, which translates to me paying more money into the system.

Its also easy to understand that a for profit business, should be listening to feedback about the things customers would pay for and the things they wont. WHy do you think a few new healer companions have been introduced in the past month? Because the players provided the feedback that before level 60 they are the most desired and most useful when leveling. Its a perfect example of the company responding to feedback.

Love the irony. I just hope people relaxe and see things as they are.
Companions are not good in epic dungeons.
Companions are just fluff/vanity items to show off with a bit of help while soloing.

Im not making it a black and white issue though, you already showed me the error of doing that before. I am talking about the people who are calling this game a ****ty piece of work, or that Cryptic/PWE are just money grubbing exploiters who just want to coerce people from their money. Those arent people who enjoy playing the game and want to give feedback on what they think should be improved.

It boils down to emotion. Most of those people don't hate the game the way they exclaim. They are just upset and as such being over dramatic. The best are the people who claim to have quit playing in May and are still on the board everyday posting gripes ... They are still playing but just being over the top.

at least a big mac isnt a gamble where .0001% of the time you actually get a burger instead of a burned fry from the bottom of the warmer.

I used to play a game called Grand Fantasia that is hosted by Aeria games , that is where I learnt never to fall for lockboxes and other random drop/gambling stuff , I actually really like this game but its so sad that it is being run into the ground by greedy scams like this that just annoy people ,and ironically its mainly the people Cryptic depend on to spend large amounts of cash that are the ones being really annoyed ...
