Good for you. You like throwing money away. A lot of us don't like to waste hard earned money on a company that cares zero about the product, and only the money they can suck from your pockets.

. . . . . I personally do wish they would do away with the locked boxes and just let us buy what we want directly from the cash shop. Hearing of such drop rates make me even less likely to try my hand at these, plus I've been burned on every box I've gotten in here and while trekking. I've never gotten the item I wanted from locked boxes.

yeah totally a horrible deal 4 asset packs and 20 booster packs and nothing ... should of just brought the ghost and a bunch of keys ..then again i dropped 400 bucks on keys and still havent ot the companion or mount from that ... i hoped neverwinter was going to be different than other PWE titles yet the drop rate is shocking , value for money well thats near 0 and to sum it up the game i suspect is mutton dressed as lamb.. im all for cash shop etc but fair is fair and these guys aint playing by the book

expecting PWE to change their methods when their methods got them to drain 400 bucks from you seems kind of naive, really.

Nevermind! Losing my mind. I thought he said 14K AD, not 14K Zen.

    Yeah...eck.

Rofl I thought the exact same thing and at first was like " what is this guy complaining about 14k ad is nothing " .

I am surprised people thought the drop rate would be higher. The point of a profession pack is to give you profession items. The chance for a companion is a lure, but honestly, you should expect nothing more than profession items. Even a 1% chance for the companion is higher than I would have expected.

80 Profession Booster Packs opened and no companion so far....

Also, the minimum on Tarmalune Bars is one which is a stupid joke on Cryptic's part.

Oh please. You know full well Cryptic cares less about whats in the packs and more about enticing you to buy them by the hundreds.

I have serious gambling issues, but im an adult, i sent several tickets at the begining of the open beta regarding to not allowing box gambling to underage kids, because i became an addict to gambling when i was a teenager, but as long as its legal... there is nothing you can do about that, its just a better bussiness plan than not doing it... so it will be a staple for even in MMOs as long as is legal.

Hate random box type of things myself. I'm not going to touch them. But as long as its legal and profitable they will use it. Honestly though, if it helps keep the game I love going I am ok with that. And if they keep the random stuff BOE, then I might still wind up getting it through the AH.

WHOA. Holy ****. This is exactly gambling and I know underage people play but I never realized PWE is subjecting kids to gambling. Oh my... PWE I hope you have some good lawyers, it isn't going to be me, but my god all it takes is one pissed off parent who's kid gets a hold of a credit card.

PWE, I hope you realize this is some pretty evil stuff.

technuically they can weasel out of it under the pretense that since you always win somnething, it isnt gambling.

    Yay legalese.

The more you people buy into the random box HAMSTER the more likely they will be putting those up in the future. Stop buying this HAMSTER already.

Granted you can convert AD back to zen but most don't. PWI is laughing all the way to the bank.

Since it is a form of gambling...they have the bread winner...the rest of the game is fluff and not a big priority.

They are more interested in making money via bilking the gullible then actually creating a lasting MMO.

That and no one under 18 is supposed to be playing without parent approval/supervision, (not that that's really the case, though).

On the other hand, 10 minutes before the server was brought down for maintenance, a message flashed across the screen to say so and so had won the mount and less than a minute later, a second message comes up to say the same guy had won another!

Shaky business tactics. This will catch up to them, I'm sure. This only describes the character of the company.

considering this is the standard business model for f2p MMOs, I somehow doubt theyre too worried.

I can vouch for the awful drop rate. 2 Asset Packs and 20 Booster packs. No healer. And the worst part is, I'm betting they have a promotion on booster and asset packs again like they did with Alchemy, for Weaponsmith and Artificer, when the expansion comes out. That would be a much better spend on those packs.

Does that mean you spent over $100 real cash dollars hoping for a companion? Really? ****.

dont be surprised. people dropping upwards of 300-500 dollars a month on this game is apparently commonplace. I know this because back when the AH exploit created a billion AD and people were demanding a rollback, whole groups of other people were wanting refunds on over a thousand dollars worth of zen they had already bought 2 weeks into open beta.

I would not be surprised. If this cleric has the same drop chance like the rare special stuff in STO, it should be ~0.5% and people paid hundreds of $ for the packs.

So you best chance is to buy it in the AH for a fixed price....................................

Eh, competition will sort it out in time, as the business model becomes more prevalent.

This happened once while I was in PE, and the player who got the two nightmares in a row cheered, and then someone else said "the RNG loves you!" It was amusing.

1 in 50 is a pretty generous drop rate for an MMO. I have bought a few with ZEN I traded my AD for. I was honestly expecting more like 1 in 500. Now I am more likely to buy some more. Thanks!

Apparently I got REALLY lucky. Got the Purple Healer on my 4th box, also in that box was a Dragon Egg and a Steel Anvil. That is, without a doubt, the best box I have ever opened. I immediately put it on the AH and it was only the 3rd one there (Dragon) and it sold for 6,900,000 AD, after the cut to the AH I cleared 6,037,500 AD. Pretty happy with that.

Took the plunge and bought 6 more packs, I just about broke even on those packs thanks to a couple of blue items and another Dragon Egg but my trade bar income was rather low, I averaged about 20 bars per box. Still, no complaints from me.

As to the "gambling" complaints, PWE has been dealing with those for a LONG time in STO and they continue to offer them, and I am pretty sure it is a very nice source of income for them. Expect to see a "Feywild Lockbox" with the new content, and expect it to sell well.

    Hardly.

if Business has learned anything in the past few decades, its that profits and customer satisfaction rarely intersect as well as conning the **** out of people.
