So far I honestly seen nothing in the cash shop to give you an edge as far as Damage and Armor Did I miss something maybe. OH I guess AD you get could due to getting stuff off the AH but it seems you can get by and do well without ever using Auction stuff or AD I know I have but I'm only lvl 18
What the 200 dollar thing gets you? I just don't see how it gives you an edge on combat.

If you look at prices for the BiS gear or the BiS enchants... They can make a HUGE impact on the endgame and your character but are typically VERY expensive for the average player to get. Spend $100 and get millions of AD and you can buy a greater plague enchant or a soulforge enchant along with your T2 items, that along with a 110% mount and youll plow over people who have been farming for almost 2 months now?
I spent a little $ just support the game and give me a "kick start" in end game and its helped but I have a long way to go to get my enchants up to par... $200 and you could have almost all BiS set up...
As for the feedback, cmpinpointerror, it would be nice to see it go both ways. I know you guys are busy fixing major issues. But it would also be nice to see responses or even a post confirming that this has been brought up to the Devs to look at...
Most people feel they are talking to a wall when they get no response and its a serious buzz kill...

i've spent no money at all and find no restriction on getting my gear. most of the founders i come across fall beneath my shield in pvp, because buying your way to the top doesn't mean you're going to be any good once you're there
You're right; what they are, however, are the people who are paid to communicate with us on behalf of the devs, so the devs can concentrate on stuff like developing.
I can think of two games right off the top of my head that developers post( or have posted) in the forums on a regular basis.
The Secret World. Joel Bylos posts regularly, and not always in an official manner, but sometimes just to converse with the people that play the game he helped develop. THAT goes miles, rather than "people who are paid to communicate with us on behalf of the developers". Do you know what that statement says to me? It says "We can't be bothered by the little people, so we pay people to speak for us." It also guarantees that the people being paid are not to be trusted, because all they can say is what they are told to say.
The other game, you ask? Well, it's not around anymore, but it was City of Heroes. Back Alley Brawler used to post all the time. So did Positron. Ditto many others. When developers become involved in the community, it fosters more trust and leniency when it comes to the product. This has been proven. To the best of my knowledge, I can't recall when the last time any Cryptic developer took the time to just shoot the sheet with us.
So, while I do appreciate the fact that people actually volunteer to moderate the forums and that there are paid employees to speak on the developer's behalf.....I'd rather you didn't. In my eyes, volunteering for forum moderation just means you enjoy the power trip.
In my eyes, someone paid to spout off lines fed to them from a PR department or just copy/paste canned "goodvibe" posts just aren't needed.
TL; DR
Who cares about admins and community mods? Let's hear from developers.
I think the OP need to think things from their side too, easy for us to say transparency, what if they have problem in human resource or monetary or hardware problem? will you pay people to help them? will you do something else to help them? actually, nothing players can do, just sit tight and wait, thats all. also, every company have their own secret that cannot tell outsiders, yes you play their product, but in the end you just outsiders.

Right off the top of my head panderus, h2oratty brisbymuridae and badbotlimit have all posted within the last week, those are devs no mods not CM's devs. The issue here is not who is posting, the issue is they are not taking the time to tell folks exactly what they want to hear and sorry devs are more productive developing, many of them aren't mouth pieces and really don't need to be, that is what CM's are for.

I think you've got a bad case of nostalgia there. Sure the Paragon devs posted every now and then, but they actually posted a lot less than the Cryptic devs have been doing here.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev

This is asking for the wrong thing and expecting it to solve the issues.
We need "TRANSPARENCY" and not "lip service on what I feel is a issue subjectively" communication is fantastic, we as players crave it, but communication can be "oh wait for the big surprise" which amuses some and highly irritates others. I'm naturally of the type that would rather they kept their mouths shut if they weren't going to share anything of value and be completely transparent about it, then at least it's a flaw, but a flaw they own.
No, transparency is bad, it's the worst thing they could have. I can tell you right now that if a dev showed up and gave us the priority work list, i.e. what's needs fixing now, what needs fixing ASAP and what can be done when someone has the time to do it, a lot of people would see their pet peeve in the second or third category and quit the game in disgust.
Right now we have a decent level of communication, we have CMs posting every day, we have devs who pop on and post and we've had a SotG in less than a month after launch. Cryptic have learnt the hard way in the past that giving estimates of dates that they're not 100% on blows up in their face quickly when it gets delayed, believe me, they'll do everything in their power to make sure that it doesn't happen again anytime soon even if it means seemingly annoying the playerbase.
Believe me, the rage at vague timelines is nothing compared to how things used to get for missed 'deadlines' (deadlines here means that a dev said that we hope to get this out to you by X) on the CoX forum, and that was a community I considered fairly level headed.

I'm not talking deadlines, I'm talking "what we're doing, why we're doing it instead of <alternative> etc"
I agree that having an official presence goes a long way. With that goal, we do our best to respond as often as we can. We're on Facebook, Twitter, and the Forums on a daily basis! I think that you'll be pleasantly surprised with some of the updates we'll be sharing soon - we've got some changes coming that are directly related to feedback we've been receiving from our players. Essentially they'll be an update on the progress on the issues we recently stated we would be addressing in the State of the Game article.
Thanks for your patience! While we do our best to communicate as often and as openly as possible, I definitely understand that more is always better! We'll keep at it!
Hi. I am your typical customer who rarely pays anything in f2p games but gladly pay a monthly sub. I don't care about your Facebook likes, or your tweets. The only time I will go to your Twitter is if there is a problem with the game and I want more-or-less immediate response. Forums are dull and it can be hard for you to collect data, but this is the platform that I will almost only use during a MMO time span. I will continue to consider social media as MARKETING, instead of calling it an 'official presence.' In my case, you're 'official presence' should be on the forums, and in game. But your game is all about making micro transactions.. instead of 'official presence.' (that's another topic for next time.) So please, do not weigh your feedbacks and suggestions too much from social media. From experience (as a player and developer), I find much more knowledgeable input from forum users.

To the best of my knowledge, I can't recall when the last time any Cryptic developer took the time to just shoot the sheet with us.
And here are two current Cryptic developers, either full or part time, who no longer post on the forums:
Back Alley Brawler (currently employed full time by Cryptic)
Positron (does contract work for Cryptic; he did the new Klingon tutorial for STO, for instance)
Cryptic has not told them not to post, that was their own decision. Ask yourself why they might have chosen this.

Dan Stahl did this for a while in STO, and every single time it resulted in angry threads about exactly those things. Also, when priorities changed and something was removed from the list, the result was always "you LIED to us!"

I can't say for sure why they don't post anymore. Perhaps it's because neither is currently assigned to this game?
I know I'd be a bit embarrassed to be posting under Cryptic after the split. As I recall, there were some harsh feelings and words exchanged, and now they're both working for this company again. Eating crow is never easy.

That is a pretty tired excuse. The devs will get accused of lying to the players even if they don't say anything at all. I miss the Engineering reports.
Separately, though, I think they need to start "Ask Cryptic" up for Neverwinter. Very soon.
