here is a simple plan they could take if they were serious about fixing the issue in a fair way for everyone.

    Step 1. identify problem
    Step 2. take servers offline
Step 3. copy and paste info on all characters into a closed server
Step 4. strip all characters of gear, AD, and Zen
Step 5. fix the bug that allows the exploit to happen.
Step 6. notify all players that untill it is determined who used the exploit no gear, AD, and/or Zen will be returned to anyone.
Step 7. restart severs allowing players back into the game.
Step 8. launch investigation into all stored characters prior to there gear being removed as well as account activity of said characters
Step 9. conclude investigation and permanently ban all IP addresses associated with accounts determined to be in violation of the terms of service agreement for using said exploit.

As straight forward as this plan is you won't see anything even remotely like it go into action because PWI and Cryptic are proving that so long as they get paid they don't give a dam about the players at all.

forgot step ten which is the result steps one thru 9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4hqv6USkoU

    It's beta.

    There will be wipes.

    Your ZEN will be gone.

    Your character will be gone.

    Nothing will be saved.

    Go back to playing WoW.

WoW... thats about as fun as name game... once or twice a decade going through a name or two for a laugh but any more then that and its just boring.

Kinda sad that more and more MMOs are only about end game... I miss the focus being on the leveling.

I've been playing MMOs for a long time and I don't ever remember giving a **** about leveling.
Use the <removed exploit lead-in> to interact with the auction vendor.

The culprits are easy to catch...

Just check the day w/o incident to the day w/ incident:

    1) Just compare the rate of getting AD per day per character (comparing the fluctuations if significantly increased - if they have a program to check it)

    2) Low level character getting very high rate of AD per day (low level characters don't get much AD in quests, unless they're built to farm AD's like buying and selling items on AD - gold sellers/AH farmers maybe affected)

    3) Rate of Items gained - either in game or shop items. Usually you can finish dungeon 25min-30min minimum (for dungeon loot). Buying and Selling items will took time also. Rate Shop Items that are bought w/ converted Zen.

    4) Shop items not bought via cash present per character and the time you obtain it. (Means that the longer the time you played your character, the more time you can farm for items)

    5) Multiple "Unbound" Items like obtaining 3 or more same type/name of equipment. (eg: Mount, pet, Armor, etc.) This only implies that you don't need the excess item and its only purpose is to sell it after.

    6)etc.

Thank you for this! When I read the words "escape goat", I laughed until I cried! Best thing I've read all day!

I'm seriously looking into buying my own escape goat at the moment. I think a White Shorthaired goat will suit me nicely - although the narcoleptic ones are almost as entertaining as your comment. : D

Escape Goat should be an Epic pet. :D

I guess all of this drama about AD/Zen exploits took your attention from how "unaffected" dungeon mechanics were. Did you forget that still 80% of the dungeons and their bosses are exploitable still? Did you forget how every class has broken skills, passive/innate or the like? Debate still out there as to if aggro is broken between GFs and DCs respectively or if this is working as intended.

Just thought I would remind you of these "little" mechanics that aren't "game breaking". If you still need a good laugh, reread some of the previous patch notes. There might be one actual "game fix" but always a fix related to PWI increasing and/or keeping their profits incoming and fluidity in those regards. (IE gateway introduction and updates > class/game mechanic issues).

Believe it or not, just because end game dungeons and bsoses are exploitable doesnt mean that more than a fraction of the population is actually using those exploits. I know thats probably hard to believe...

Game breaking= you try to log in, and can't. Not, "my items i worked so hard for have no value in currency anymore and if someone wanted to they could exploit a boss to kill it"

Sorry, thats not game breaking. Try again.

Please remember that most of those 10 hours was gathering information. They need to know what the impact on the economy really was to be able to take a proper course of action.

Oh, they're still making money when no players are playing, and there is widespread uncertainty that the game will survive this debacle?... Oh...

Has anyone else noticed that the forum server is loading quicker now. Makes me wonder if they are not in fact brings servers back up soon. Or maybe its just that I have sat here for 5+hrs waiting for the server to come back up.
