For pity's sake, stop acting like children. What's so bad about not being able to play? Your money isn't being wasted, it's a free game after all. Your professions don't stop just because the server does. There are severe bugs that are being addressed as fast as Cryptic and PWE can deal to them, which is a good thing. You may not understand this, but bugs will become far more apparent far quicker in open beta than in closed beta simply because of the volume of players.
If anything, the founders should be complaining but - for the most part - we're not. The majority of founders understand that this type of thing is to be expected this early into the beta cycle. If you can't accept that a free game in an open beta state (As much as we all know what OB means with PWE) will have bugs and need a lot of server downtime, then leave or stop acting so entitled.

This "early in the beta cycle?" You are kidding right? The company made the decision to go open beta this early, not the players. The company rushed it into "open beta" to start reaping the bucks off the ADHD generation. The game servers have been very unstable. Now, if you want to say lots of releases have had similar problems, my answer is that they should have known better based on all that data. They should have opened up the game as an "open beta" with no money taken. Once stable under that load, then they could have started taking the money. The company chose to release under these conditions, don't blame the players for complaining that know this is a problem the company willingly brought on.

Ah what a nice idea. to take my thread and start a new one. Well congratz to you. Now do you want me to put everything i said in the other thread here? Listen to make a long story short
I'm not a paying customer but if these guys didn't got any feedback or suggestions at all their game would go down fast.
I started the dungeon way before the maintenance started. I'm not acting like a child I'm telling them what is wrong.
I still got my permissions to complain even though i haven't bought none from the game. I really like and enjoy the game. but really.
amazing how kids today dont understand the term 'BETA' - it clearly refers to the game not being done and it is being opened up to find and squash thew bugs. There is NO game out there today which does not have bugs, you are talking hundreds of thousands of lines of code.
stop being a baby and go take a nap for 3 hours, its clearly not the end of the world you cant play. The world will still turn I promise you ....
I know i just came home from work. I wanna sit here have a nice time. I'm on facebook youtube and whatever right now. I'm tired and just wanna relax.
Which is what im doing right now as well. Ive got plenty of other games to play so not being able to play Neverwinter isnt the end of the world.
Another thing im sick of is all the people calling others "Babies". People complain. Get over it and move on.

I do not complain about not beeing able to play for 2 hours. I complain about not beeing able to play the only 2 hours of time avaiable. The maintenance started at the time everybody arrives home from work in europe. It's simply lame, no excuses
It is Open BETA. With that said if you do not understand what beta is and means then you should not be playing a game in BETA open or not. Servers come down. servers crash. emergency patches and so on you deal with those issues.
Anyhow per Neverwinter's tweet a few minutes ago this is what happened.
Neverwinter @NeverwinterGame 11m @Log420 This was unexpected. Hardware came in after scheduled maintenance and we decided to perform it because it was very necessary.
Neverwinter @NeverwinterGame 29m
Emergency network maintenance in #Neverwinter. Expected to be around 2 hours, maybe more. Sorry for short notice!

Your thread? This is the polar opposite of your thread. Your idea of telling them what's wrong is pathetic. If you paid attention to the in-game/launcher/forum notices, you'd know when maintenance was scheduled and you could go "Oh, I shouldn't start a dungeon half an hour before maintenance".

Fact. Free 2 Play does not mean Free 2 Upkeep. It relies on having a large playerbase and people willing to spend money
Fact. PWE got greedy and released the game early without doing proper testing, thats why pretty much every day the server either crashes or we have maintenance.
Fact. Open Beta just means it's early in the stage of the game, but it is launched. Implying otherwise is ignorant.
Fact. PWE lies their face off to you. Emergency maintenance to "ensure" stable performance? right after we just had maintenance? rofl.

I for one look forward to the patches. With each patch the game gets better.
i.e.
No more disconnect in PvP
No more Foundry cheaters
No more rubber banding
No more 'your 613043' in queue
Higher frame rates (I am hanging around 58 fps atm which is good for my laptop)
etc
If it wasn't for these patches you kids would be crying about much bigger issues. Be happy that each passing day the game get a little better and take a moment and thank the devs for their hard work.

I don't really care about the downtime too much, but I have to say. Every post I've read with you in it you are telling folks to leave. They need to put like a little axe at the bottom of your signature with a notch in it for everybody you've driven away, with a numerical tally of the amout of money you have cost them.
You are The prime example of the worst type of community member a game company could hope for. Not only do you wish to drive folks away, you make your own topic to do so.

it's good they get their gear upgraded. and stuff. I know it's in beta and stuff. I know they have to fix bugs and stuff
I know everything and stuff. What i'm saying is. I was doing a dungeon long before the maintenace started. I was at the last boss in mad dragon lair thing. we wiped the dung develer was going on and we ended up getting dc'ed. What i'm mad about is that i ended up going down there for *literally nothing* at'all.

it sucks for everyone. Europeans think pwe is picking on them or something. this one wasn't planned fyi, the earlier one was. hopefully it gets fixed so they don't need to keep doing it and we can all be happy.

I love the people that continually defend every problem the game and company has by saying "it's only a beta."
Well ok, if it is only a beta quit SELLING stuff for real cash until it is not "only a beta."

You also forget that Open Beta is the first time the game get to test load. Before this the player base is very small and there is no way to test a VERY large number of players. This is why every game does Open Beta weekends and load tests. Granted that PerfectWorld is taking a bit of an unconventional approach to this testing method by mixing a official release with open beta.
This doesn't mean that they still do not have to over come issues that plague every game upon release. Yes I say every game... this includes EQ, WoW, Conan, Aeon, SWG, Rift, etc all of which I beta tested at different levels.
To be honest with you for the first Open Beta release this game is rather polished.

NW is down again?. I guess I'll go play STO. Oh, wait. I didn't realize it was in open beta too.
Yeah, I really hope the maintenance actually does something this time.
I only have one comment. If the game is in beta, then they shouldn't be taking money yet, period. Founders paid for the opportunity to play in beta, but that doesn't mean they or non-founders should be asked to spend money until it's out of beta. Give people a stippend to spend on the store, and once beta is complete use real money. Yes, that means a wipe once beta ends.

Open beta normally the last leg of the beta phase you should and need to expect unscheduled downtime they havnt got a maintenance schedule in effect yet. yes it sucks and what sucks more is they need to get their maintenaces down pat sure neverwinter is in beta but my other game keep[s goin down at the same **** times startrek online come on pwe get it together someof us like both games and bein able to play sto when the other goes down and vice versa would be a great step!.
I take issue with the defense of this seemingly daily maintenance/downtime by claiming that NW is in "OPEN BETA". That is a copout and could not be further from the truth. To be clear I am not complaining about anything here, just offering my opinions gathered with over 25 yrs gaming experience. "OPEN BETA" in today's MMO terms is equivalent to essentially a less hyped, soft launch. It is used to generate more $$ from today's gaming gereration. Companies use the term "OPEN BETA" to piggyback hype off of for the game's true release as well. Most of the game's features are already live and all the transaction mechanisms are 100% functional. That my friends is NOT a beta in the truest sense of the word.
With that said, I try not to be overly critical of the game's faults, technical issues and/or downtimes. I simply wanted to elaborate on the true definition of today's "OPEN BETAs".
I understand Neverwinter is in beta but they are shutting down all their games star trek is also down for an Emergency patch for the same time frame. It also sux they maybe will come back up at 9pm my time lol (Netherlands) but that happens. They have been shutting down all their games allot recently at the same time. So if you wanna play during down time go find another company lol.

Hi Captains,We will be bringing down all Cryptic games and services in 25 minutes for maintenance and expect it to last for 3 hours. The test server will also be unavailable during this time.
The goal of this maintenance is for additional performance optimizations to help avoid the outages we've seen recently.
Thanks for your patience and understanding,

Can't please some folks.
If the worst thing that happens to me today is I am unable to play a game for a few hours I will still consider it ok.
Do I want to play it? Yes!.
Hey one day I went to BK for lunch and did not return home for over 50 days. Now that was a bad day. Car wreck 34 day coma.
That was a life changer to say the least. Not playing a game for a few hours does no real harm to any of us.

AND TO mention I'm kinda already tired of the Poster. You keep calling us kids. You say we have to stop complaining even though you complain about us. and we are *Kids*. I don't know how you get it to work up there but something must be wrong since you're going further over the line. I'm useally a good community guy and love reading the forums and stuff. I got plenty of other things to do aswell. But when the servers go down on you like that it's annoying me. Especially when you just wanna relax and came home from a hard day of work.. So pal stop complaining about us and tell us we are kids becuase we do even though you are doing it yourself.
