Anyone out there from DDO (I was in Argonnesson)?

At the time, I was engaged in DDO with loyalty.

    Since then, I've moved on.

Just curious if any ex-DDO players have taken an interest in Neverwinter.

    Let me know.

    ...B

Myself along with a few others from Khyber (old Riedra) are coming to Neverwinter. We were known as the original Elite Raiders guild. Myself being Fatty the smurf, servers well known healer. I am trying to get more to get out of DDO since it is more of a job type game then actually having fun like Neverwinter but they are to brain dead already to listen. Yes it is possible to switch games. I deleted my 12 toons including 7 clerics after 5.5 years of DDO and do not regret it :)
Hope to see you in game.

    Fatty

DDO player for many years here - first Devourer (EU) then a refugee on Thelanis for a long while, played a Funkycold Medina (plus various alts). Definately gonna try this out when it goes live.

Interested in any Euro timezone guilds starting up...

I still play DDO and will continue to dabble even after NWO goes live. i'm excited to see what the foundry will offer for entertainment. I've been waiting for a dungeon maker in an MMO since Feb2006. I look forward to seeing you DDO players in NWO.

I have played ddo for years on and off. Just finished the never winter beta weekend 1 and my first impressions are that its good fun but I did feel like I was wearing a straight jacket. It felt like I was playing a clone, I am hoping its just a beta restriction

I'm guessing you are referring to the "rooted" combat system, where you cannot move and attack at the same time. This is unlike DDO, where you have full freedom to move around while attacking, but most action-combat MMOs do root, at least melee. Some only slow ranged movement, and don't root it. To my knowledge, DDO, Secret World, and GW2 are the only action-combat MMOs that don't root.

It's not a beta restriction; it's something that they chose to do (it actually was originally non-rooted), and I doubt it will be changed.

the rooted combat system I thought was ok it sort of slowed the combat down and allowed you to think rather than just hold left mouse (shaverath portals ...hate them!)... its the whole character customization thing that made me fee very restricted. but to be honest I know nothing about 4th Ed. so I did a bit of reading up on it and it sounds interesting. I played DDO when it first came out and back then it felt like a party, everyone had their cool things. Then ddo stating getting multiplexed with options do have abilities to do all sorts of things. this lead to batman builds and wizard trap monkeys. Now days DDO doesn't seem to specialize for the class or race, but more of the I can do everything build. From what I can gather regarding 4th Ed it puts the teamwork back in the mix? anyone experience with 4th Ed care to clarify?

I played DDO for sometime, mainly playing as a Halfling Rogue, but I packed it in due to difficulty in finding reasonable premium modules to play. I could probably recover the account if I so wanted.

It was generally very enjoyable to play and I found it after getting fed up with D&D clone MMOs.

I loved exploring the wilderness areas and dungeon areas using stealth and working my way through traps and puzzles.

Superhero stories, done well, are about modern archetypes.

A Prootwaddle is one of the weirder player-character races in "The Fantasy Trip", Steve Jackson's first published role-playing game.

Yes. Teamwork is really the primary guiding principle for how 4E was designed, and it does it quite well. Each class has a clear purpose it was designed towards, and there aren't classes that can just do everything. It also has a lot of character build flexibility and customizability. Vastly more than is available in Neverwinter, which doesn't really use any 4E mechanics at all.

I highly recommend it as a PnP game, and as the best D&D has to offer.

anyway casual but regular player looking to join a guild here for anyone browsing this thread
