I popped in to take a peek as a Premium or ex P2P non VIP. Found the content for me as a L16/17 borderline character nonexistant without purchase and spent my TP to get my WF back which was my main. Unless I see options, there aren't any modules I can play to advance without buying which is kinda non "unlimited playing" options for high-levels anyway. I asked for advice on their forums to be fair, but looks like I'll not be sticking around if I have to pay to just play anyway (which equals either my paying now about $15 for now or a month's P2P/VIP the other way, (since I spent $8 already just to get the balance of TP to unlock the WF race to play my main before seeing what wasn't availabvle afterwards.)

So be it. Microtransactions become more like monthly.

If you plan on playing a for only a couple months vip is the better option but if you plan on playing long term 3 years + go premium.

Thing is vip is renting whereas premium your buying its the difference between renting an apartment and buying one.

Thanks. Looks like the high-level makes the choices mentioned mandatory. I'll decide if the bugs are fixed enough to invest or not. Man, if somebody were to offer a non WoW non Eberron D&D like online Forgotton Realms now and not in a year, there could ge a killing. Or maybe we're just a fringe group now that inspired WoW and the other MMO's. It's been too long and only one D&D MMO with a Eberron IP forced upon the company isn't a good benchmark.

I wonder what the percentage of
    ex DDO'ers moving over here
    will be looking for:

    1. Just another opportunity for loot/power.

    2. Deep DnD Adventure/story/RPG.

    It's rhetorical of course.

    I'm just curious.

Stopped playing DDO last year. Was on Argonessan and Ghallanda - Wiz, cleric and rogue.

What about All of the Above? My left brain looks for the most powerful options I can do to make sure I pull through to the next encounter while my right brain loves to create the character's story and development into what they went and are going through and share said written experiences.

    Howdy all

This is 1st post in this forums. I have just been forum and news stalking and I can't wait for this game to come out.

I am actually not from Argo but from the runt server of DDO- Orien.

    I am Searth/Ilithius/Xcaltar from there, FvS/Sorc/Barbarian.

If the chance do present it self to make an Ex-DDO guild, I would love to join!

    - Noops

Brikke, while you do have some good ideas and questions when you post stuff like this the only thing that comes to mind is.......GET OFF THE SOAPBOX!

Seriously dude, what does it matter if someone comes looking for "Deep DnD Adventure/story/RPG" or just another game to crush? Either way people playing is good for business, and good business=long game life.

Actually I'm kinda an ex-DDO player
because I still do play from time to time, mostly because I'm addicted to the rogue system D=

Hail former & current DDO players! My DDO forum name is LeslieWest_GuitarGod for those who might remember or know me. I played on the Ghallanda servers and am the co-leader of Tyrs Paladium.

Can't believe after 6+ years I'm finally seriously testing the waters for the next D&D online game. I am a founding member, having played since the original beta. More miraculously, I never cancelled my sub or even took a hiatus. (I'll be keeping both subs, cause I'm a maniac like that, I'll never totally leave DDO)

Its time to move on and expand our guilds' gaming options. We chose Neverwinter because we feel its the most promising. The melding of the Neverwinter Nights and DDO communities is an exciting one to me personally. Whatever you may like or dislike about either game, its non-debatable the loyalty of both communities.

Unless Cryptic follows Carlos Mencia's guide to computer gaming development... this should be a winner. :D

Tyrs Paladium is looking for the opportunity to invite and run with any ex-DDO players that follow a no drama, no zerg, teamwork oriented philosophy by default. This is our niche and we pride ourselves on enforcing our guild rules. We play hard, laugh hard, and try our best to win. Please let me know if anyone is interested in joining our Neverwinter chapter!

I still play DDO but only until Neverwinter comes out. I play on Orien and b4 that Argonesson and Mabar. So like a few b4 me said if ur wanting to make a guild of ex-DDO players sign me up. I really am getting tired of DDO was a VIP for a few years but I don't like how turbine treats their VIP's.

Heya Gillrmn. Tyrs Paladium has pitched a tent here in Neverwinter, and is currently recruiting. We are not a "DDO guild," however some from our guild's DDO chapter will be checking the game out, and we are sure to attract a small share of DDO talent from Ghallanda and elsewhere who know of us. Check out our guild rules and see if they fit your playstyle.

Check out our Neverwinter recruitment page here ---> http://forums.playneverwinter.com/showthread.php?t=4663

and our private site (you can only see a few sections until invited to guild) ---> http://tyrspaladium.forumotion.com/

I went back to see DDO and think I might 'go back' a bit till NWO beta is released... maybe ride the rainbow clouds of Shavarath.

There have been many major changes it seems... I couldn't recognize it anymore.

So I cast 'Expeditious Retreat' on myself came back to forums. After trying to learn 4e, I would have overloaded if I tried to get used to new DDO all over too.
    :p

I played from Beta to about a year and a half ago. My main was Danzig the Drunken Master on Sarlona server. I'm constantly fighting the urge to go back to the game. I know i'd just play for 2 months get caught back up and then bored by the constant repetition and grind of the game. It's a shame, it's the best combat system i've seen in a MMO in my opinion.

    Ex DDO player here.

If you followed the Pre-Release Forums...I was Raistlin Majere on the forums. I was in Alpha testing and met the devs at Gencon prior to release.

They missed the boat though and I left after they came out with the Raid Dragon.

I'm a HUGE DDO player still, but I wanted to get in and see what NeverWinter was suppose to be all about. Seems that it is still a locked beta and I cannot yet get in to see it. EPIC fail.. :(

*Buzzer sounds* NW Online is still in ALPHA and BETA has not even been announced. While some may have gotten future beta keys from the PAX East convention, nobody has been told when Beta will begin.

Keep hope alive, and eyes on the prize...oops, just used my preacher quotes quota of the day ;)

    Cool.

Plenty of time to set it up.

I and some of my guild mates from Mabar (then Argonnesson) will most likely be playing. We would love to get a guild of former DDO Players together for Neverwinter.

Thelanis Born and bred so to speak. Been playing off and on since launch (that is before f2p launch, you know when the cap was level 10). (( I say that because I keep hearing about people who beta tested DDO - The F2P open beta))

My personal view of DDO is that around the time green steel was added the devs started going down a path I really was not happy with. Monks were fun, Favored Souls were bleh, Artificers are fun, Half Elves are fugly and seem half assed, and the grind is getting worse and worse.

It is a shame really, when the game first came out it really felt like D&D.

I play on Argo too, and Asmo knows me, but he knows me better as IFight, or Vastion. I can't WAIT to get in here and root around. I am looking for the storyline / D&D deep experience. Looking for Stivv, I know he'll be here lookin for the same!

IFight, Vastion, Vastiona, Vastione & IBeat

I use to play on Khyber... Waaaay back when the cap was level 10. I still pop in from time to time to see how Turbine is messing up DDO... I think the Underdark expansion they're releasing is a shot at trying to get Forgotten Realms players back into DDO, and possibly away from this game.

Well I see my post was archived. lol. I still play DDO but the magic is really gone, even with the release of eveningstar. I'm tired of the drama as well and looking forward to a fresh start. As for betakeys I had one sent to be before the revamp og the boards and had to merge my accounts...when that happened my key would not work. what is up with that? Anyway hope to see u all in NW when it is accessable.

well i was hoping MotU was going to be a lot bigger but when u can cap 2 toons and all of their destinies in about 2 weeks playing a few hours a day it's disappointing. I'm really looking forward to NWN and would love to sign up for a guild of old ddo peeps
