You guys should be happy about those messages. It means people are spending money which means the game will continue to get more content. If you think the spam is bad now, how will you guys feel on April 30th?
There's going to be a lot less by April 30th. The people willing to spend money will all have been playing for a few days and gotten it (checking out store stuff) out of their system. The masses that start on the 30th will likely never buy anything.

You blew $200 on a game that you immediately quit because a line of text ruins your immersion?
I haven't quit, and actually its closer to 300$ to support a 4th ed based MMO. I will quit when the spammage gets to be too much, which is sad considering I have roughly 100$ a month to drop on gaming addictions. Id like to continue supporting the game, I know they hope to hell that they get to keep getting my money, but alas, I can drop 100$ a month on steam if need be. This game is the perect blend of immersion, simplicity, and complexity I have always wanted, and I thoroughly loved the Beta weekends. I do not like **** splattered on my screen every few minutes though.
Giving an option that will let me continue enjoying the game without something that detracts from the experience, esp something that isn't really part of the experience, would up their overall revenue. Since I would still be buying the keys, I just don't like the mood breaking spam. I put it on par with being on vent with a dude that has a baby crying in the background constantly, except I can silence the dude, while still playing the game.

Every Korean mmo I've ever played is a constant stream of "so and so has received "X" item" and "So and so has upgraded their weapon to +9!". Along with a completely unregulated gold spam which fills every available space, go see age of wushu for that. Really disappointing to see any signs like these in this mmo.
Honestly, I got a nightmare box doing a foundry mission... I was excited linked it in guild chat and then all of a sudden I opened it and BOOM nightmare mount.
Folks were saying congrats to me in guild.
I spent $1.25 for the nightmare mount.
I don't mind seeing the messages. I think when someone hits 60 it should be announced to the world. Or other groundbreaking achievements.
It lets everyone know that there are others around them having fun.

i don't mind seeing it in my chatbox (I'd prefer being able to turn it off all togeather, but I can compromise on it being in the chatbox). I mind the forced large red letters in the dead center of my screen. I mind that it uses admin channel (which imo should only be used for game administration). Lockboxes, even if you cant turn it off in chat, should get a channel called something like "Lockbox."
Also I want to thank sominator for looking into it. I know if PWE says "absolutely not" then I'll move on when it bothers me as much as it did in STO. But its reassuring that a Dev at least will look into it.
When he gets to Heaven To Saint Peter he will say, "Hand me 4d6. Lets roll the dice and play!"
PLEASE offer something to disable this, it destroys the immersion experience and breaks ones feeling of involvement with the game.
I agree and im one of the players that opens lock-boxes by the hundreds. Another aspect to consider is having the ability to keep your "winnings" private. It has often happened that after i open something particularly nice in STO that numerous people i dont know send me tells asking to buy what i have just spent time and money to buy, annoying...

Can anyone tell me how to turn off that incessant and annoying "X has gotten a nightmare mount" spam. I was on at 4 in the morning, it seriously felt like there were 5 other people online, and i saw this spam hit the middle of my screen not once, but twice.
And this is just the 4 AM CST HotN crowd. For the love of all that is good and beautiful, let me turn this HAMSTER off. I don't give a **** who gets what. Am I supposed to spam them for getting the mount? This pissed me off in STO, and I really don't want to have the middle of my screen spammed with what people get from lockboxes.
Also the fact its on the Admin channel is total Bullish. So in summary, if we don't already, can we have the option to turn off lockbox spam from the middle of our screen, and have a way to disable lockbox spam from (what I would consider an important channel for Admin stuff) from our chat?
I can't wait till day 1 where i see more of who gets a nightmare mount than i do of my own toon fighting.
No, sadly you probably won't be able to. This is definitely Perfect World's doing. Its a classic Asian mmorpg tactic of goading players into purchases. Basically they'e dangling other peoples' luck in front of you. By seeing people get all this stuff flashing across your screen gives the false impression that they are more common or easier to achieve, when its only a few people out of thousands succeeding.
Its obnoxious and insulting, but I don't think its going to go away and they won't let you turn it off, to my knowledge. As far as I know its still in STO, with no way to remove it. Don't get your hopes up that your feedback here will result in anything.

Thanks for the feedback, everybody! We're looking into it!
No, no you won't. STO has had this forever (and still does). CO doesn't have it, but that's only because CO doesn't have anything good enough to get out of a lockbox in the first place.
There is a way to turn it off in STO however. It's quite buried (dropdown menu on the minimap, Notification Settings, disable Gameplay Announcements - or maybe it's Open Reward Pack, I dunno), but it's there.
NW doesn't have such a thing?

I think its in the minimap options, 'fly in' gameplay announcements, or something.

Hm not finding it. In the hud is it the non hide-able box "Normal Notifications"
If so, Maybe I can put it under the chatbox

BTW, when those alarms go off in casinos, I leave. For one, the chance of me winning after someone else hits the jackpot is nil. (chance of winning is next to nil already). Secondly, I find the lights and sounds very off-putting, much like I find having done dude's name plasterd on my *** with what piece of *** he just won a bit off-putting. The only "upshot" to knowing someone winning the lockboxes is to tell you its worthless to try. Even though my chances of winning never change (win percentages are not causal, unless they are, which would be even more assinine on Cryptic's part), the chance of me winning right after someone else wins is astronomical.
You, uhh... Don't know how statistics work, do you? You seemed to, since you specifically said that your chances don't change because they're not causal, but then immediately afterwards you said that somebody else winning means there's no chance of you winning. That is literally the definition of causal and the exact thing you said doesn't happen. The chance of you winning right after someone else is exactly the same as the chance of you winning at any other time.
Admin: Stormdragon has just spent a thousand Zen on lock-box keys and all he has to show for it is the same silvery enchantment, you can find him in the Driftwood tavern sobbing uncontrollably.
But that's indeed a weird thing to have the game. No one will really care if someone got an item from the Nightmare Lockbox. It's more of "You just spent cash on buying keys?"
Oh no.. is this the same Message like in STO where for example a "x has gotten a Ferengi Marauder / Cardassian Outhouse with Lasers" pops up from time to time?

Yep. It's the same.
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev
And if you think it's bad now, just wait until everyone starts to play on Tuesday.
I've seen the CONSTANT flood of messages on STO (before I found out how to turn it off). It is NOT pretty. And insanely annoying to see ALL THE TIME.

OK, so there is a way you can kinda get rid of it.
Rearrange hud, move Normal notifications to the most out of the way place possible. At least at that point its hiding where your least likely to look. Still cant get rid of it, and cant turn it off in chat, but I have mine hiding under chat, under XP bar. Makes life more livable.
