Can anyone tell me how to turn off that incessant and annoying "X has gotten a nightmare mount" spam. I was on at 4 in the morning, it seriously felt like there were 5 other people online, and i saw this spam hit the middle of my screen not once, but twice.

And this is just the 4 AM CST HotN crowd. For the love of all that is good and beautiful, let me turn this HAMSTER off. I don't give a **** who gets what. Am I supposed to spam them for getting the mount? This pissed me off in STO, and I really don't want to have the middle of my screen spammed with what people get from lockboxes.

Also the fact its on the Admin channel is total Bullish. So in summary, if we don't already, can we have the option to turn off lockbox spam from the middle of our screen, and have a way to disable lockbox spam from (what I would consider an important channel for Admin stuff) from our chat?

I can't wait till day 1 where i see more of who gets a nightmare mount than i do of my own toon fighting.

I personally haven't noticed this .... yet xD

But that's indeed a weird thing to have the game. No one will really care if someone got an item from the Nightmare Lockbox. It's more of "You just spent cash on buying keys?"

Yeah. I have no issue with people opening them, I prolly will open some too. I just don't want to be spammed with this stuff like I was when lockboxes came out for STO and I quit from the spammage.

You lose any immersion when you are pelted with this notice constantly. It's really distracting.

I can turn off hearing the guy chewing his chips with his mic on, but I can't turn this HAMSTER off?

That sounds like such a horrible design mistake. A server message system like that is just giving out targets for insulting PMs to be sent to by jealous ragers.

Those notices are like the alarms that go off in casinos when someone hits the jackpot to encouraged everyone else to keep gambling or buy more keys.

Social and behavioral psychology at its best.

I could care less who gets something... They need to turn this off or at least offer an option to individually set it.

Yes, Same time, Since I lose immersion, I quit playing that game. Giving me the option to disable this drek will help them keep a player. Pretty much everyone I STO'd with left STO because of this. In the beta forums here you could read of others leaving sto because of this. Default on is alright, jsut give me the option to turn it off so i don't feel better off not continuing to support the game.

BTW, when those alarms go off in casinos, I leave. For one, the chance of me winning after someone else hits the jackpot is nil. (chance of winning is next to nil already). Secondly, I find the lights and sounds very off-putting, much like I find having done dude's name plasterd on my *** with what piece of *** he just won a bit off-putting. The only "upshot" to knowing someone winning the lockboxes is to tell you its worthless to try. Even though my chances of winning never change (win percentages are not causal, unless they are, which would be even more assinine on Cryptic's part), the chance of me winning right after someone else wins is astronomical.

I was planning on opening them all along, for the bars. I want some of the companions that you can get from opening the boxes and trading bars. I'm also looking forward to hitting 60 and getting some free gear that will help me start getting into the end game. As for the mount, I don't actually care. I'm betting 40$ in keys (on average) doesn't get you an account wide tier 3 unlocked mount. So Had I not had a Spider/Horse already waiting for me, I would have just gotten the Howler so I'd not have to care about the nightmare.

As long as I don't look like my morning HAMSTER, I don't care what I look like. So spending between 1 and infinite dollars to get a ride-able twilight sparkles doesn't really appeal to me when I can, if needed, get a great mount for less than the price of 40 keys.

If I get a nightmare, I bet itll go into storage

Its my fault that this is in the game. . .

everytime I see the message about someone getting a ship in Sto I immediately buys thousands of dollars worth of keys to try my luck. .

I don't know why, but I am compelled to do so. . .

The Zone chat does not break immersion for you? I mean, it has been really civil and friendly on Dragon, and I do not mind at all, but it is all OOC talk and gameplay questions.

Chat is way off in the bottom right.... in about 10 point font. not 30 point red font in the middle of my screen, literally covering more than just my ***. Considering I disable most chats while playing... I don't even see Zone chat. I can't disable Admin btw. and if i did iono if it would remove the huge *** letters covering my battles with the undead.

Seems like a reasonable request to me. Personally I would like to be able to turn the announcement off for my character. If I got something rare, I don't want it spammed. I prefer to stay anonymous... :)

It's there by their will, to HAMSTER you off, advertise and showcase what you can get with money. So no, they won't allow you to disable it (atleast for free), they wan't your money.

I really hope there's a way to disable this. It's spam, plain and simple, and I don't like being spammed.

It is not a misstake, it is there to make you feel "oh i want that aswell" and buy keys in zen store.

Its is like that in every F2P game that have gacha lockboxes to lure you into buying them, usually its also flashing in bright colours

Ill pay them 20$ to be able to turn off the ****ing stupid text in the center of my screen. I know it's not a mistake. But it is a reasonable request that I be able to not have this screw up my fun and make me want to quit. I don't want the my little pony to ride on, and them force feeding it down my throat won't make me like it any better. Hell they can spam my chat bar all they want with it (making the game neigh unplayable in groups) as long as it doesn't flash across my screen.

Tho I think its asinine the Admin channel, one which should be used by I don't know, admins, get this text too. Admin channel should prolly be used for administrating the game, and not advertising moneygrabs. Make a moneygrab channel for that. lord knows they have dozens of other channels already.

If I could go hours without seeing it, I would be fine, but i saw it twice in less than an hour this morning during way non peak hours, with a small subset of players being able to log in anyway, IT's going to be worse then STO on the 30th. A reasonable request to be able to not have that **** take up my screen is just that, reasonable.

The other games you are talking about are nearly all Asian, and quite honestly they don't care about western gamers and ignore most complaints/issues we have. Once the 30th hits and every person whose name lights up on the screen gets chat flooded by beggars, haters, and scammers trying to steal their account, then Cryptic can decide if it wants to to spend a great deal of time handling support tickets related to the issue or just remove it. Also, I personally would be less likely to open any lockboxes if it meant advertising anything good I got to the whole world.

Then again the issue might not be amplified enough for them to care about with as small a population as, say STO.

Honestly, there isn't a chance in hell that they are going to turn this off. Based on everything we have seen from PWE's money-grabbing tactics, do you really, honestly think they will turn off this free advertisement?

Best start dealing with it cause it's not going anywhere.

Well you can only open them with keys you buy for real cash. So yeah, ofcourse you get asked to give money to PW.

Haha, it's made me not want to open one at all because I see that mount message every 2 minutes or so, there are probably almost as many of those now as spiders.

So let me get this straight:

You blew $200 on a game that you immediately quit because a line of text ruins your immersion?

I guess I forgot for a second that Cyptic is now PWE, one of those non-caring Asian companies I was talking about. They probably already have a ticket filter that dumps all related complaints and issues right into the trash. "Somebody stole your account through a scam PM after seeing your name in flashing lights attached to a shiny object? We don't care, buy another one."
