How about customized titles, I'd pay for something like that.

This idea may already be implemented. But just in case not, I figured I'd bring it up. This idea with the extra drow background. They should run with this. And steal a page right out of league of legends hand book. Continue to sell skin... *coughs* backgrounds for all the races. Releases as many as you can come up with. So long as they are not to gaudy.
Just fyi a top hat and monocle is not gaudy!

If they allow pre-leveled toons, it better be a hell of a lot more than 5,000 zen. I think we all know how easy it is from past games to gear up a toon just having friends farm content with you in the party.
I would expect at least 7,500 zen. Still won't deter leveling service companies from just dropping their price to compete though. Instant gratification is one thing, but we are still in a recession for something you could 'eventually' attain on your own at your leisure.

The more money these silly people spend on stuff like that. The less likely P2W items will be added to the store. Yes I must think of other ideas like this...
Says the guy who paid $200 sight unseen. :P
But yeah I really like that idea. I'd pay for it, if it was cheap that is. Like $1 a name.
What I plan to spend a bunch of money on is Foundry items though. Like new tilesets, items etc. I assume they'll be selling premium ones as microtransactions and if they aren't, they should. Keep making new Foundry content and people will keep buying it. And it leads to more/varied playable content.
This is the biggest P2W idea I've ever seen or heard of. Level skip in an mmo *facepalm* It's bad enough when Its in a solo game, but in an mmo absolutely not.
So your idea of winning the game is making to max level? I disagree that paying for level advancement is pay to win. In my opinion pay to win is paying for a weapon that is more powerful than one you can get through normal play. A damage boost potion that makes you do significantly more damage that you can't get in the game through normal play. I think people throw around the pay to win phrase to try to shoot down things they don't like that cost money.
Yeah because it is easier to act like a child than to explain your position. Take your ball and go home.
I'll explain then. The majority of the game is level 1-60 and letting people pay to reach it (even if they have already done it before) is letting them potentially ruin the fun for others by taking away the meaning of their time investment. Not only that, but it fills the game with people that don't know how to play their class and will be a drag on any group. Letting people skip questing or playing the game is contrary to the fundamentals of any single player or multiplayer game and letting them pay for it is letting them pay for a cheat code. I don't care if they have to grind for gear... it goes against RPGs and games in general. To top it off there's no good reason to do it in this game. The Foundry lets you play new content without having to repeat a quest twice... ever, so it wouldn't be the same grind.

While I can understand your position I still fail to see how it is pay to WIN unless winning is getting to max level. I guess that the "meaning of their time investment" doesn't . I couldn't care less about who levels faster than me, unless it would be in a situation of forced open world pvp and they were killing me over and over again while being hugely higher level than me, but that doesn't apply in this game.
As for people not people able to play their class, I completely agree that that would occur but I still don't see how that is pay to WIN. I am not arguing that letting players get a free character to 60 won't have negative effects in the game, I am arguing that it is not "pay to win" unless your definition of winning is getting to 60. A free character at 60 does not give anyone an advantage over anyone else with a level 60 character which can be done by anyone without ever paying any money.
My problem is with the use of the phrase "pay to win" being used to inflame people against something they don't like instead of used for what it originally meant. Pay to Win is when one player can not play on the same level as another player who is spending money when they are not. Giving someone a free character at 60 when they have already made one to 60 does really give them anything they don't already have and that is a character at 60. Paying for advanced gear you can not get in the game that is better than anything you can get without paying is pay to win.
If we are going to expand the real meaning of Pay to Win to mean that if you pay money you can gain any kind of advantage over others, then cosmetic items are pay to win, paying for in game currency (astral diamonds) is pay to win. People compete on how they look and if you can buy items that are desirable in some peoples eyes people with cooler looking cosmetic items are paying to win. If this is the case anything people pay money for is pay to win because everyone has different definitions of what winning is. Some people compete for wealth so paying for astral diamonds is pay to win.
To sum up I am against people advancing in levels for money for many reasons, but in my opinion it is not paying to win. Why? Well because how fast someone else gets to 60 doesn't give them any fundamental advantage over me that I can not get for myself without spending money.
I already explained it man. He zoomed passed all the logic and tried to nit pick at parts of my explanation... He wont get it. He is one of those guys who spends $60 on a game then goes home and skips to the last level, then enters in his invincibility code, and beats the last boss, then throws down the controller and shouts "OWNED". And then he never plays the game again.
He never stated he was for or against it, he's just curious as to why you are as against it as you stated. I don't approve of trolling threads, but he could very well be intrigued as to why you are against it. For all we know, he wants you to sell him on the idea that it would be a bad thing. He never proposed it...
Don't jump on peoples nuts when it doesn't call for it.
As for being a burden on a group, even if being given a free level 60 with greens, you mean to tell me you don't inspect pubs before you let them join you in a dungeon?

I have never advanced in level for real world currency ever in my life, don't use cheat codes and don't think I have ever said to anyone or anything that I OWNED it or them. But thanks completely missing my point.
Also you didn't explain it, you said it was pay to win without saying WHY you think it is pay to win.

I don't inspect people before letting them in groups with me, but that is mostly because I either rarely in any game make a group with random people I mostly play MMOs with people I am either in a guild with or know in real life. I would imagine if i was making a group with random people I would probably inspect their gear
LOL I had to remove your roll eyes before I could submit the post.

I suppose pay to cheat, pay to skip, or pay to lose (out on all the fun--cheesy I know) is better terminology. Frankly, the difference is negligible and even under your definition I still think it's pay to win. Is there an in-game way to instantaneously receive all the XP required to reach max level? No? Then it's not a convenience item, it's a cheat. It's the same reason that I don't think they should offer XP accelerators without also including rest XP. Time has to replace money in game. There is no quest that gives all the XP required to reach max-level.

You people amaze me. How about you post on topic, instead of arguing about something that ended 4 days ago. Stop looking for threads to start arguments in. The debate ended 4 days ago.
So I'm thinking maybe my idea about running with the race backgrounds wasn't specific enough. So let's give an example.
People keep requesting undead stuff. So make them an undead background. They have to pay x amount of dollars and they can make their character "appear" undead, like a vampire or a lich. Also you can give them an undead companion. Any one would do really. You could even sell multiple undead companions. One for every class, and make them pay each time!

$1000+ to design a mob or item for upcoming content like in POE. Except that it has to cannon. Not sure if this would sale here though with the foundry and all. I know you can't actually design your own mob or item in foundry but it's fills that desire a little bit.
Also donation funding options for potential future content. Say Cryptic is interested in creating several different content updates. Let them "pitch" them to players who can then choose to donate towards specific projects. This helps developers see what players want and helps them to continue support for the game without sacrificing their creative vision. Cryptic would probably never work that close to the player community though but it's a nice thought.

This is where the Community and Game Staff come in to report and handle such violations. To not implement something because it "may be abused" is not a notion that sits well with me, for on that note, all MMOs and everything in Real Life should be removed from existence, for everything has the potential for abuse.
That's not the problem. The problem is Turbine doesn't consider it an abuse. It's not flagrantly offensive. It is however completely immersion breaking. It could be renamed to "Dan the Man's smasher-stick" and not be abusive but still be absolutely stupid and out of place in Middle-Earth.
Long of it short, people are dumb, say no to engraving.
