well everyone was hoping for a beta announcement when the PCgamer article was released...but like all the other times when we have been hopeful we get silence.
As I said before I don't expect any movement whatsoever until late autumn now, with launch between dec 2013 and feb 2014.
God I hope not. Do not think I can stand another year without a good MMO, its already been 2 since I've quit WoW and Since then I've gone from MMO to MMO hoping for something to hold onto but to no avail.

This is just ranting If people didn't hype their own rumors others wouldn't have had to expect anything more than an article (and respectfully not a good one) about the game with a horsie reward added.

I actually believe they are working really hard now to get this out. However, its ANYONES GUESS unless someone at Cryptic starts a real newsletter describing the ins and outs of whats going on.
I believe something WILL happen by April 2013 at the latest.

anyone else feel that this game was really trending towards greatness a few months ago but the vagueness about when the beta might even come out already killed the game a bit? its not even in the top 10 upcoming mmos on mmorpg.com. ive wanted a forgotten realms mmo for the better part of a decade but if this game even launches im afraid not enough people are going to even be around enough to care still.
Trending towards greatness a few months ago... a few months ago... months ago... and all because of beta announcement? Really, not sure what to say about that. If you had said about news about the different parts of the game or such...
Being in the "Top whatever" before release doesn't mean that much anyways. If they screw it on release, do you think that people are going to care that the game was "Top whatever"? But hey, with beta anyone (in) gets to play the game before release.:p Good to build/expand the Hype Train that will crush everything in its path if the game backfires. (not that I want anything bad for this game! Or Cryptic! No opinion about PE at this point.)
I just wish that they would throw out a bone to their long time followers with something as simple as beta access instead of this dead silence approach but then say "Hey... buy this and you will get beta access!"
I already got beta key from TLII and would get another (would be lost) by CO. No need for more for me!!! Free horsie or eye candy armour/robe would be sweet though. More (economically) valuable than beta anyways.
I'm keeping myself out of the (Hype) Train until I think, backed by evidence, that there is reason to jump in (again). That said, that devs are more active and more news are more available more often is a quite nice change. Beta or not, release or not, at least it's easier to keep interest with devs/news being more common. Not that I haven't lurked here (almost) everyday even if dead dry old eras of this forum. Certainly this seems a more interesting era that the beginning of the Era of the Bear.

yah I was telling someone yesterday I think that the game will release in April-May.

I did not wait for Beta announcment. Beta means mainly for me to test system requirements(since I do not create adventures. However of course I wish creators could access FOUNDRY as soon as possible and permanently save adventures.)
Anyway a very negative prediction. Beta does not need to take 6+ months. I absolutely expect this game to be released during 2013 and I mean the real calendar year and not some economic theoretical year.

Beta probably SHOULD take six months, but PWE beta is usually more of a market test than a bug test. I'm thinking this is why Cryptic has stalled Beta for so long. As far as PWE betas go, their opinion seems to be, as soon as players can enter the world, they should be buying things from the store.
Just a word of advice: don't spend any money on this game til it actually launches. I wouldn't expect a lot of mechanical adjustments to the game during beta phase; the most aggressive changes will all be in the store department.
Anyways, the inclusion of beta keys with this PC Gamer mag, and every past indication of PWE beta being relatively short, makes me think that yes, we have every reason to believe this game will be launched during 2013. In fact I'd go so far as to say that it is launched before next winter.
think nw will come in end of 2013 or march of 2014 PWE have long betas whit a lot of stages ,and they never publish new games during summer ,and since looks like this game missed march lunch window then can only be late 2013 or start of 2014

Long betas? STO open beta lasted for less than a month. RaiderZ open beta was similarly short - just less than a month - and literally, the only change from Open Beta to Launch was the addition of lockboxes.
open bata and close bata arent same fw closed beta was since october to march, black light ocober -march,raiderz was in aplaha and close beats since appril till november ocober not sure when open bata started ,so yeah pwe dose have log betas

Open beta shouldn't last more than a month. It's usually just for stress testing and load balancing.

We should ask those people that bought Torchlight 2 in order to get a beta key how the availability of beta keys relates to the timing of the start of beta.
yeah but this game isnt in closed beta yet so we can only hope will some short closed beta before open beta lunch to see this game in 1Q of 2013 if not then 3-4Q of 2013 is more real date of game lunch ;(

Really, not in closed beta? What makes you think that they are not already in closed beta?
I think closed beta has gone on for quite some time. If people are in closed beta they are not allowed to discuss it so no one can say if the game is in closed beta or still in alpha. All these beta keys could simply be for open beta access. They they keys were all sales pitch promos anyways.
GW2 only had a few month's of any public beta announcements before it's release. Cryptic mentioned that beta schedule will be made this month but there is not indication if it's closed or open beta. For all we know that beta schedule is all open betas and closed betas are drawing to a close.
As for the release of the game... my guess would be Q2 2013 or early Q3.

GW2 had what...2 months of open beta? Rift was similar only a few short months before it's release. People need to get over that betas are not gonna be these long many month durations. Open betas are mostly for stress testing and handling the demand at launch.

Actually GW2's closed beta started in Dec 2011 and the Beta weekends started in April and the game launched at the end of August
Im 50\50 on nwn, not going to get my hopes up for nothing.
I'm too dumb for that. My hopes are really high. As a life long D&D fan, an MMO fan, and a UGC fan... yeah, I'm pretty much hoping for a home run.
Thankfully, I am also pretty easy to please. Honestly, all the game play video I have seen looks pretty good to me. If combat is smooth at launch, and the UGC is solid... I think that's most of what I will want.

I think closed beta has gone on for quite some time.
I accidentally posted this in the wrong place but here it is again.
Cryptmapolis made it pretty clear that as of at least late december the game is still in alpha testing, and that beta start dates depended on a variety of things, including alpha feedback.
His response on the matter is buried somewhere in the Meet the Developers thread.

But if we don't get the stuff, how do we test it to get the bugs out? If something goes wrong in testing and it can be proved (to stop scammers) there should be refund options or play money if they don't want to do this.
And this is Cryptic not another company (like MAIET) which actually decides their beta time (like RaiderZ was decided by MAIET, not the distributor. PWE marketed that. However, if I am wrong on this le me know and show me where.)

Look at Cryptic's history to determine their lengths. If they are going to be longer or shorter notably they will say so often. Don't use RaiderZ as that was a different company. Don't confuse the people who make the game and set the standards with those who fund and distribute he game. Thus confusing Cryptic and MAIET due to both being distributed by PWE. Now if they (PWE) developed the game too, then it's a whole other thing....

Yep. Game's still in Alpha now. Cryptic did NOT say there was a January beta announcement; that was a rumor by others. Read my reply here please.
If anybody has literal PROOF that CRYPTIC or PWE announced this and NOT a third party, you are allowed to post that here as that would be public information. There has only been the announcement of the delay to early 2013 since AUGUST of 2012 in multiple media sources then here which I will support that as true.
Anybody testing it is internally (not publicly) testing it then and is under NDA, which is why the developers are so...stuck with what they can and can't say. That's about all I can say on the matter too.
Im 50\50 on nwn, not going to get my hopes up for nothing.
If hoping on NWN, then might have to re-evaluate. That game ended years ago and this MMO is not Neverwinter Nights. It's a D&D MMO in Neverwinter with its own playstyle and development for user module style. As has been said for years now even when co-op and not MMO.

Release? You mean after the open beta phase?
Too optimistic I would say. At most close beta will end by then - at most.
