Consideing the dynamic aiming needed for this game, it's one of the few times I'm considering actually buying a game controller for my PC based on the game's suggested mechanics.
Well, I do hate WASD movement anyway and who uses joysticks anymore?
That program will give you the base support needed for most compliant games, like Cryptic's games, DCUO and DDO, among others. You'd still need a third party program to remap things further than what the specific game client allows. For this latter, I recommend searching around for an older free version of Xpadder or buying the latest pay version it if you have money to burn.
A bonus with this controller is that if you own a 360, you can also use it as a second/spare controller for the 360. It comes in both wired and wireless forms, with the latter being about 20 bucks more expensive.

I don't see the logic in this. If you're concerned about dynamic aiming, you're better off using a mouse, because it's more precise.
I do think a gamepad option is in order, but that's because I don't see the game needing very precise real-time aiming, at least until they add bow-users to the game.
i cant speak for dcuo or any of the cryptic games but to set up for ddo was a breeze.
plugged in the controler,30 seconds later windows had the driver found, downloaded, and installed. boot up game, hit options, and go to key bindings.
what i loved about theyr set up (which i forgot to mention) was that in the key bindings screen they list every single command, and slot possible in the game. you can set 2 options per key bind. for example left joystic forward, and W will move you forward,or say they X button and the #1 kep will do selected hot bar slot 1. every single command being double hot keyed means you can easily drop the controler and instantly transition to KB+mouse without a pause
also if you use "mouse look" which can be toggled on/off i looks like the same targeting this game will use.

DCUO had no set up needed at all for me. I only had to go into the game options and change the Y axis. CO and STO are likewase "ready to go" with barely any set up needed for base operations, but if you want to map abilities/hotkeys, you'll need to do some setting up.
What is really awesome with STO and the Controller, is using Windows Speech Recognition and Windows Speech Recognition Macro Tool to use a combination of voice commands and the controller, eliminating the keyboard and mouse all-together, unless you wanted to use the typing chat.
However, with the PWE non-Cryptic RaiderZ game, I had to use Xpadder to get the controller to work with it.
I concur with pretty much everything said here, the first few MMOs I played: UO, ****, WoW, LotR to name a couple I didn?t know any better and just stuck with what was given me... M/K
I know better now. I like to Play Dragons Nest every now and again and highly enjoy my Xbox controller, I find that it is more than useful in game and it even supports what I have seen another poster call a "mode" button. I just call it a shift function.
The 2 downsides I have found are the fine movements that are easy with a M/K are at best frustrating with a Xbox controller, this really doesn?t come into play unless you want to be a ranger in Dragons nest. I believe this point was made already; I?m just seconding the thought.
Likewise I hate being in the middle of a group wondering around questing or what have you and not able to drop my controller, type into chat and keep up with the rest of my group... I guess that?s where a voice app would be nice.
That was a rather long way to say; yes I hope my Xbox controller will be supported.

If you do, try out the Microsoft "XBOX 360 Controller for Windows" then go download the free Windows Program for it from Microsoft, "Xbox 360 Accessories Software" here: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/xbox-360-controller-for-windows#support
(click the "Support" tab to the right of "Details")
