There needs to be more healer and tank classes. Especially since SW and Gwf are not viable healer and tank roles

SW is viable but pulls to much threat as threat is based on both damage and healing combined. So a SW that is setup for healing will heal but also put out decent amount of damage, which means very high threat rating for the players. That = death usually. Not good.

GWF should have better feats to make it a viable tank. It is the off tank as in it should be pulling some of the adds off the main tank to give the group some breathing room or to allow the CW to kill the adds so that Strikers who are single target killing machines can produce the correct amount of damage.

This is a group game and running with a balanced group...

Tank, off tank, controller, leader and striker will get you through most dungeons just fine.

Tank = holds the strongest adds and bosses.

Off Tank = pulls weaker adds away from tank and does his damage thing.

Controller along with the off tank does his or her thing to freeze the adds and damages them, this reduces incoming damage for the GWF and allows them to make mince meat of the adds.

Striker class along with the main tank work on the boss.

    Leader buffs/debuff and heals.

Now you get good burn on stronger adds/boss, weaker adds and bosses are managed by controller and off tank and everyone stay alive thanks to the leader and gets the buff needed to make it even easier.

The issue is everyone wants to be a DPS and not play their role to make content easier. When I state DPS, players do not want to spend the time to learn their class to be the most effective player as possible when playing this game.

It's an MMO. Healers and Tanks are always in high demand because the average player is going to be dps.
This is true. With how this game works you may pick a DC but it does not mean you build your DC to heal or picked a Paladin which is designed for Tanking or Healing but went with the Paragon path to be a DPS type of Paladin.

It is why I continue to see many players as GF, OP, and DC playing as DPS without a clue that the class picked should be playing as a healer or tank.

My OP was my second toon so already knowing the ropes a bit, I built a healadin following a current build and couldn't be happier. I had end game in mind, plus I love keeping the team alive and well.

I fully specced for healing on my Devotion Paladin and my heals are incredibly strong, haven't been out healed once.

In group content, I don't deal much damage at all but solo, switch out a few powers and I'm good to go.

DPS seem to be incredibly moronic in this game, standing it one shot red zones that even I can't burst heal them from.

I'm not blaming one particular class, but I find that GWFs are the ones that never move, it's like they go AFK and hold R2.

How does the queueing system put together 1 tank, 1 healer and 3 DPS? I don't recall selecting a role before queuing, so how does it balance up a team? Does it look at your build, or just guess according to class?
  • l3igtyme#3950 l3igtyme Member Posts: 8 Arc User
It assumes what role you are based on your class. Which isn't always the best idea.
  • derio#3255 derio Member Posts: 32 Arc User
Pretty sure the queue system goes of of class. For OP it probably just RNG between healer and tank.

Very bad system. Which is why it's better to form your own group for lvl 70 content

I always start with dmg resist buffs and then get heal/damage going. But I constantly keep buffs up. What I cannot stand is sometimes people dont stay together. Then I am trying to cover two to three groups.

I must say though, for the most part I have seen groups stay together now that I have hit lvl 70. And its great when we become a well oiled machine.

Hardsst task for me now is trying to complete a epic dungeon. Get to the boss and we jist get demolished. Lol

So many of the Bosses are broken in the Epic Dungeons. We breeze through the dungeons then get to the boss and it's like a HAMSTER shoot on what will work and what wont. Our poor healer always feels terrible until we remind him you can't heal a one shot.

Kessell is the lone epic you can beat. It gets boring running the same dungeon. I only ran it 3x now because no one knows how to tank. I even paid a tank that did well enough 5K in AD to run it again with me.

Having a DC and having them use Anointed Army at the right time can make all the difference. Problem with this game is, many players don't understand RED = Strong Attack, which usually kills anyone that is not a tank.

Yea I always feel guilty when the group dies, but good to know the bosses are just that hard.

And thats a shame you need to pay someone to tank well haha. Hopefully with more people reaching lvl 70 and getting more experience in, there will be much better play groups soon.

I seriously hope they patch the indicators in the dungeons ASAP.

I've managed to heal no issue through Lostmauth, Valindras Tower and Kessels and the first two, always end up dying at the last boss due to those missing indicators.

thats a hard room to location tank because of the beholders. i can tell you, you are in the red constant in that room as the tank and some hits are fine but if you get frozen you can be killed before you can move again even with over 200k hit points . so you have to almost constantly be on the move and the other players have to be able to move around and adjust with you or that last fight can be a nightmare.. I have only been in one failed run in there and it was because the other players wouldnt move when needed and I didnt feel like spending over a hour to burn everything down by my self while trying to stay alive after everyone else was dead over and over

As a DC you need alot of patience in this game. My biggest pet peeve atm are dps who play like it's a solo game to them. They get revived and instantly dodge halfway across the map when they see I'm standing there ready to heal them. Or they get low hp and I'm about to divinity buff and big heal them and their gone! Spell goes off no one home. Between soulforge enchant and stones of health kind of makes it easier for them to think so. Just a zerg fest atm.

A lot of people are still trying to figure out their classes, too. Most of the PS4 crowd is new to this game and every MMO does their role classes a little different. I came from DCUO where a balanced, 8-man raid group was 1-2 healers, 1 tank with a dps who could tank if necessary, 1-2 controllers, and the rest dps. The 2-2-2-2 ratio was best if you were running at level, but people would argue up one side and down the other to stack dps.

I'm still figuring out which classes are dps, which are heals, tanks, control types, etc. Personally I prefer support classes to strictly dps. I also prefer ranged to melee. And my main is a rogue. Go figure. I'm enjoying the control aspect, but it's a little more dps-y than I usually like.
    Kaiya -- Trickster Rogue (main)
    Narcediira A'Dareon -- Control Wizard
    Alliana Miatumal -- Scourge Warlock

I just finished a run in Wichita one of the dps kept RUNNING AWAY from the party to the other side of the map and while I healed the party he kept trying to solo a bunch of mobs then the stupid guy ran to ME instead of the tank so I would heal him and take agro on ALL his mobs then everyone kept dpsing the boss while I kept trying to dodge all the agro attacks party stayed alive only guy that kept dying was the stupid dos and at the end he has the balls to call me a bad healer <.< . So my advice is if you are dps and believe you can solo stuff get yourself a tank/healer companion and do stupid stuff away from the group so healers can do our jobs the right way with people that want to play in groups.

I just wish that people that claim to be playing a "healer" would actually HEAL their team members.
I don't care what "class" you are playing.
But, if you are taking up the "healer" slot in an epic dungeon then at least HEAL people.

The problem with that is epic dungeon queue system is kind of borked. It looks at the class not the spec when putting a party together. So you could have paladin healer and a cleric healer, paladin tank and cleric debuff/buff and so on. Hell sometimes you get neither and all dps!

If Cryptic would gives us a simple "Ignore PERMAENTLY" option for ingame, then maybe we would be able to get rid of the spammers on the LFG Channel...then we wouldn't have to worry as much about getting a team of all "healers" that are really built for DPS. ;)

As it is now it seems that even the goldsellers are only "ignored" until they log out & back in.
I have "reported" people (just to ignore their spam) only to have them back to spamming in as little as 7 minutes.

A debuff DC is better for endgame groups where players are better geared and have solid builds. They are not the most useful when everyone is levelling up.

Gold sellers don't use one account they have several and once one account is banned they shift to the next one that's why you can report/mute etc. When you mute one you mute 1/100 of the problem. I wish they could get rid of them because I have to filter out those channels while in protectors enclave because of the spam and it would be nice to see what people are selling out of the auction too.

    Sell to the merchant.

No one from early access are leveling anymore. We are gearing up, farming seals and running dragons/demo/tiamat.

On a side note being hybrid cleric is a better choice atm since healers are lacking.

I dabbled in DC and from what I've found the heals work as dps. You debuff the mob that when players hit it are healed up, then you have the aoe knock back that again heals players, you also have to build up divinity to switch and have a healing beam (much like mercy from overwatch) which is built up by dpsing. There seems to be no straight final fantasy like cure skill.

Heck in ff14 healers are encouraged to help dps as well as heal because the cures are strong and they stand still doing nothing most the run.

healing and tanking can be a pain to new players when they are paired with high level players who run off to do their own thing. A few dungeons I ran had 1 or 2 players level 60-70 who had mega buffs on and just solo'ed the dungeon I barely could keep up on my dc. Doesn't help I'm still learning what all the lingo means, when it comes to skill tip texts.

I get it, you want to be a healer, but you are in a group, you should be HEALING. You are NOT going to out DPS a Scourge Warlock, just friggin heal, if you don;t like healing choose another class, you are there for a reason.

The game has only been out 3 weeks on PS4. Maybe cut people a little bit of slack to learn the game?

It has been out for 1 month with early access. Also, the game has been out for 3 years on PC and 18 months almost now for Xbox1. There is plenty of information out there and online. This information would help any NEW player out and since we are playing an online game on a system with a built in web browser there is no excuse why players are so behind the curve ball with their character.

When you hit level 70 don't be rushing into a dungeon ASAP. Go complete your EE campaign, do some dailies in Shardunar and Dread Ring to get some better gear.

Again, if players want to play in end game content, go look up things for your class.

I did at level 50, prior to end game and it made a big difference for me. Now before I even start any character I'm doing the same thing, to ensure that I have a strong character for end game content.

any links because from what I found out each platform is on a different mod. I did try to look up info and couldn't find any that was up to date or ps4 related. this includes tank builds, tanking guides, and tank video guides. So far no one on pc or xbox went on ps4 and made a how to guide to help new players out with explaining the game and the basics.

Is there anything else that can be done with them. I'ed rather trade them for gold then have them filling my inventory and bank but at this point I have such a over abundance of gold that having more gold is kinda meaningless. Is there anyway they can be used to obtain astral diamonds or is selling them for gold the only option I have with them?...

You should be able to make your own thread now but you only have 3 options anyway - sell on the AH if anyone will buy them (you won't get much), sell for gold to a trader (again you won't get much), or save them in the vain hope they may be worth something later (it'll be a long wait).

That's it - no more options. Can you stop posting off-topic stuff in other discussions now? It's considered rude and has a negative impact on discussion flow.

Thank you for both your answer too my question and informing me that i can now make my own topics. I never wanted too insert this into this topic but after I ran out of other things too try, I ended up resorting too this (tried googling and everything before coming to these forums).
