Beautiful? It looks completely stupid, to be quite honest.
And yes it ought to consume stamina.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder I'm ok with it consuming stamina. This will kill TRs more than any other class, as they need stamina to stay stealth longer (as rolling prolongs stealth gauge)
I understand why it's done, and since everyone can do it, I also employ the strategy. You only limit yourself if you don't use everything wthin the game mechanics to improve your own outcome for success. Forget about MMORPG PvP, this happens in veteran FPS matches, PvP matches with a 3d plane in general. The PvP games that lock you down to a single plane (like LoL or Dota as examples) or PvP games with auto target (which I hate, like in WoW) eliminate a specific skill required to succeed. I'm not saying you don't need skill to do well in any of the examples, I'm saying one required skill is removed.
Is this a real thing? When I play just pointing in the general direction of someone means my attacks auto lock on it, there is no way that someone jumping moves them out of my hit box. Are you all playing at 800x600 with a 60 degree FOV or something?

ben, it's simply mass placebo, and some people are still just going forward and spreading rumors without any basis. There are only a handful of powers that are non-targeted in this game. Almost every single ranged power requires target to activate, as well as melee powers, and NW isn't a non-target game like Tera, or other 1v1 fighting games. It's a targeted style of game like WoW -- any power activated will hit. You don't get to sidestep against a magic ball of fire headed your way. The only ability that does it is dodges, and even dodges can't dodge a power that's already activated. It only dodges at the timing where the other guy attacks while you're in the immunity frame (with the exception of broken stuff like trapper HRs).
The only known instances of hit-box futzing is IIRC one of the GF powers in which case is very sensitive to relative height difference.
Jumping does help with distance/range issues, and as I've posted some pages before, its especially helpful against rapid-movement powers, particularly gap-closers. Any TR who've tried a gap-closer like VP or Deft against (for example) knows how difficult it is to 'close-gaps' against HRs even if the power hits. Jumping does that.
Aside from this fact, there's nothing else. Dunno who started this rumour at first, but it goes a lot to show how malevolent and ignorant statements can simply circulate around these public forums and live forever.

As mentioned above, you can't dodge most attacks by jumping as virtually all of them have auto-hit/target. All it does is screw with your timing or perception of where the target is. I don't PvP any more but when I did I never missed a target because they were jumping.
@bloodyspamer: oh I don't doubt you truly believe that is what you have seen, except that's got nothing to do with whether its what actually happened or not.
've learned more than 20 years ago that what people think they've seen, and what actually happened are two entirely different things.
That's the reason why people learned that it was important to check the records and cross-reference each other to get an accurate picture of what might have happened -- instead of trust anecdotes and hearsay on face value.
Your text is just like psychology doctors, who try to convince that everything you seen is just your imagination.
You seen problem, and try convince that there are no problem, its your imagination. You seen some other stuff and here again same stuff, It do not exist,, it's just in your mind..

And my friend, its not like I start this thread after first time I so this kinda problem. Also it's not first game who had same problem. So I just asked is this jumping cause glitch which boost your ressist stats... Thats it. No one asked about other stuffs.. So please lets stay on Topic.
Memory is a faulty thing, and it applies to anyone, even myself. Often there are times I see a WTF?! situation, and then have to go back and check the log records to see it was nothing out of the ordinary. These things happen all the time.
If we would talk about PC/Laptops/Tablets I would say that your OS and hardware need some checks..
However we speak about memory.. And by your theory I should not trust of my memory.. If I would doing in that way,, probably I would be dead..
Gotta fully agree with this! Gear + skill will result in casual players yelling "hax" (and being serious about it) all the time. Proof is everything. That and a reliable system for preventing/removing exploits and hacks in game.
I would agree in some parts..
Yes, that in some ways any character could be extreme to kill due difference between Gears.
Yes, newbie player get killed by normal or skilled player/
in both situation you can hear that someone call you hacker..
However don't be idiot and think that there are not hackers around.. There are enough forums where you can find game glitches and how to exploit them, For example extreme short pass in Spider temple. From start dungeon in less than 1 min get in front of last boss gate..
Also some exploits.. I will not write forums. But they are usually use terms similar to OWNED.
There are good players, there are really good, there are stinky players who win match exploiting game bugs/glitch. But all security stuffs we should leave to our staff team to handle.
p.s to forum moderators.. I think it would better if this thread get locked and moved to The Lower Depth.

If jumping does not confer any advantage to the jumper, then what would be the harm in having jumping consume stamina? At the very minimum, it would be more in line with RP - it simply makes no physical sense for jumping to not consume any resources whatsoever.

because the only good aspect of this game that we can list without thinking twice is the fast action combat system.
kill jumping, kill movement, kill the interest of 50% of the players.
i would rather go playing the classic korean games with fancy animations
Again for me is the fact that it looks so stupid and makes it feel more like a little kiddie game (not that it is sophisticated fantasy in any sense at all anyways). I would be pleased if they would add a chance to be knocked prone by attacks if caught while jumping as that would at least add a little bit of realism to make the game somewhat more interesting and catching someone in the air would certainly qualify for that 'skill' mentioned earlier.
Lol, bunnyjumper goes splat! face down to the ground because you hit his feet in midair - instead of his thick skull you originally aimed for, so he better not complain :^D
...the idea has some charming aspects. Would rather add a touch of realism, yes.

You don't have a 'topic' when you can't even prove it's something in existence to be talked about, can you. It's essentially the same thing as talking about the behavioral analysis of the abominable snowman. You need find one and capture the proof first.
Its not monkey jumping they call it bunny hop even the good old counter strike, Rakion, gunz have it. what they have done is there's a CD on jumping you can only jump every 1.5 sec. problem solve. And it is a glitch FYI.

Its not monkey jumping they call it bunny hop even the good old counter strike, Rakion, gunz have it. what they have done is there's a CD on jumping you can only jump every 1.5 sec. problem solve. And it is a glitch FYI.
Well actually bunny hoping where before ages of counter strike. During doom fights online peoples already where doing it.. And quake 3 have mod called defrag. Where peoples have to run map and clear it by using bunny hoping.
Also if you played CS 1.5 and 1.6 you know that there where glitch. Where guy performed bunny hoping where able to dodge any incoming shoots. I so it personally. Guy keep jumping, while my 7 team members + 6 from enemy team shoot to him. And we where not able to hit him. THis where in early 1.6 dates. Before stats ages of AutAim, WH and other popular Pro gamers tools
But enough of FPS stuffs, this is is MMORPG. Peoples would say, yea its mmorpg and bunny hoping should not work, but for example in RaiderZ beta you could be total immortal if you know how use it. I beat top end boss, solo with epic HAMSTER gear. While in that time peoples said its almost impossible to do it..
If I would not so this stuff in other games even excluding raiderz, I would say it's just coincidence. But after 20++ times you having kinda same stuff, you start wonder. Why guy can dodge/tank 15 players so easy, that his HP never fall less than 80% of his total HP. While when he face me 1vs1. I beat him to point that he where not able to do anything...
So pro gamer when fight against 10++ players and epic newbie when come 1vs1 buisness.. Nahh, I don't buy this HAMSTER. If he is good player against 10+ players so he would be good in 1vs1 too.
And I beat him not 1, not 3 not even 5 times. I beat him 8 times. And in all encounters 1vs1 he never took me down. Neither take ~20% of my HP.
I think you would start wonder too if you would get in same situation..
And end of this thread. Any video will be submitted to staff team. I will not accuse anyone of cheating here in forum.

If jumping does not confer any advantage to the jumper, then what would be the harm in having jumping consume stamina? At the very minimum, it would be more in line with RP - it simply makes no physical sense for jumping to not consume any resources whatsoever.
Is this the first and only video game you have ever played in your life or something?
[...]Well actually bunny hoping where before ages of counter strike. During doom fights online peoples already where doing it.. [...]
Now this is interesting...
You must've had a way better version of DOOM than any of those I ever had, mine all had flat coordinates and only 2D mobility, with automatic vertical aim shifting if something was on a higher level in that pseudo-3D map space - which one could use as a giveaway to find hidden monsters on certain maps. So, the first DOOM where bunnyjumping was at all possible is DOOM 3, released 2010-ish
Sorry, but this makes plainly obvious you do not know what you're talking about.
And "Defrag Mode" was what it's been called in Quake (without numbers). CS was - 5.1 or 6.0 - the first game to block the use of macros to effect bunnyjumping as the default mode of locomotion, which some "competitive" players used - was one of the first features of PunkBuster to really work. And to be fair here, in CS - as in most other egoshooters - there is no autoaim and auto-target-lock-on like we have it here, so that's been quite an imbalancing hack there. The use of your keyboard keys to that avail, however, hasn't been called a cheat...
And I don't get the resistance to having jumping consume stamina, if jumping doesn't confer any advantages.
My hunch is that jumping does confer an advantage, but that it is the abuse of an exploit, and so it won't get discussed openly on the forums.
I am curious about this as well and while I don't pretend to know all the reasons someone acts in a certain way, the vitriol and insults I have received from once suggesting a small stamina cost make me wonder.
And I don't get the resistance to having jumping consume stamina, if jumping doesn't confer any advantages.

Youd also think though after this thread topic has been posted before (http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?584081-PvP-Jumping-needs-addressed&highlight=bunnyhop), that the devs/mods would of looked into it. Then patched/fixed.
Also just mentioning any type of exploit topics get locked. This thread would of been locked. But maybe there is a bug/exploit and devs too slow or just too low on priority but still youd assume thread lock if it was really some type of exploit.

The only delusional one here, is you. Pointsman makes perfect sense. Also reported you for being provocative as hell in your posts, aswell as disrespecting others, while demanding respect towards yourself at the same time.
On a side note:
Greatweapon is one word. It has nothing to do with the GWF being 'great' at 'weapon fighting' (whatever that may be) but rather indicates that the class wields 'greatweaponry' (great refers to weapon size...) Just to clear that up, for future signatures.
And I don't get the resistance to having jumping consume stamina, if jumping doesn't confer any advantages.
My hunch is that jumping does confer an advantage, but that it is the abuse of an exploit, and so it won't get discussed openly on the forums.
Anyone can tap the space bar, if you think it confers some advantage go try it and report back with your findings. It conveys one advantage, you jump, which is useful when running up stairs or hopping over uneven terrain, and I don't want it to use stamina because I don't want to be stuck in front of a 6 inch ledge waiting for my stamina to recharge so I can jump over it. That would be frustrating and boring and a thing that has existed in no game ever.
I could believe there was the possibility of net positioning confusion as even in PvE I have noticed that if a mob jumps to my location and I attack quickly that I can miss but I have only noticed this with skills that don't require a target.
It's difficult to prove that your mouse click has happened, and nothing has happened, as your target bound skill just was blocked. Which is basically the only effect I do see... ...apart from immersion breaking.
And again, IMHO legit and fair, at least in so far as that it's open to all.

But why would you be constantly out of stamina so that you'd have to wait for your stamina bar to refill in order to jump over a 6 inch wall? I typically don't have to jump over walls in the middle of a fight, which is the only time when stamina consumption is a concern.
And even if you were out of stamina such that you couldn't jump over a 6-inch wall - wouldn't that be more realistic though? Out of stamina means that, basically, you are just physically drained.
It sounds like you want jumping to not consume stamina just because it would be inconvenient if it did so. But if that is the case, why not just get rid of the stamina bar in the first place? Wouldn't it be more convenient if everyone had infinite dodges and could engage in any physical activity at all without loss of stamina?
