visual differences in shirts (help?)

i see a lot of people who play female characters complain about the revealing armours and i'd love to refer them to a good shirt that will fix this issue for them.

i know female shirts come in a full shirt and a belly-exposing variety but i don't know if there's a way to tell which is which until a character puts it on.

is there an indicator to tell which is a tank top and which is a shirt?
I know that for male rogues a shirt and a tunic have different looks, so I would guess these are indicators? Wiki won't help, as the only given example is male. In this case i would, through logic, assume 'tunic' is shirt and 'shirt' is tank top, but of course other types of clothing (cloth & chainmail) have different names and I'm unfamiliar with those.

it would be nice to know what to refer people to before they start a rant on how offensive this game is or something among these lines lmao

thanks for help!

I suspect the majority of this forum are males with male toons (me included) so you may not have a very large pool of people who can answer the question.

    Some ideas:

    1. It's a faff but going on to the preview server and buying and equipping all of the options would be the most guaranteed way to find out.

    2. On the real server buy some of the very cheap low-level items off the AH and see if you can spot a correlation between the style and the item name/description.

    3. Find someone in-game who is wearing a suitable top and ask them what it is.

And also to add that I know two females in RL who play NW and they both want *more* revealing clothing for their toons!

If I remember correctly, then tunics cover the belly and shirts do not. But I could be wrong.

I'll try to remember and get some screenshots for you when I get home.

I am not sure anymore as I've transmuted mine to the invisible ones on my female toons. IIRC its a difference between Tunics and Shirts and is different per class.

Correct. Cloth or leather tunic appears basically the same on male or female (leather is sort of quilted, cloth has laced accents). Shirt has the exposed belly for females. Darkleather shirts look like the regular leather shirts.

Chain/scale/plate gambesons have different skins from shirts but none of them are skin-baring. Only cloth and leather wearers have belly-baring shirts.
