The question is: Will there be new artifact gear for level 70, or will there be just new Epic Gear? Will the current Artifact Weapons be obsolete with what is coming? Will the new level 70 gear make all that we have obsolete including the artifact weapons?

    So many questions.

For now....i'm saving all my refining stones.....and Astral Diamonds

This would be my expectation, too...maybe Legendaries are slightly better than the best that drops in the new content, but not by much. Then you can have better parity between players, and with that bring more challenging content out for everyone.

Thanks for the laugh. I think you forgot to mark the sarcasm, though. Obviously, letting current BiS gear be on par with new level cap stuff would defeat the profit motive for raising level cap. Everything will be obsolete so we can get the hard core players to invest again in gear. If you are lucky, you will be able to use 60 legendary for RP in the new gear... IF.

Happy about paladin, druid would have been nice but I like my paladin, glad to be able to have him again :)

lvl cap going to 70... well that has been likely around this time. it isn't a surprise and I'm not sure where those that are acting all surprised have been hiding if they really didn't know. As for whining about gear...... you'd complain like hell if there was no movement in gear, it always gets bettered eventually, YOU should have taken that into account!

I for one, welcome the announcement :)

if Cryptic....is smart and realy gona release more RP items artifact whatevers..they will Allow us to REFINE the new gear/artifacts with previous gear/artifacts that we had.

I would not feal comfy if i could not refine my old stuff to new stuff and with high Value as EXP inside the new stuff. ..like put a Legendary artifact inside a new Artifact/Gear and lv it by 1 %..lol

99% lv EXP from it will be tolerabile.

And sure , Make a ZEN item that can Salvage ur Legendary/Even Class artifacts to RP GEM with exact valueof ammount of rp used to lv it.And use the gem on whatever u want..thats a Great idea :D

Level cap increase was easy to guess. I would assume it won't work like the other levels because adding 10 more feats on top of the current ones will wreck havoc. I guess we are getting completely new LVL60-70 feats and powers that can be chosen separately with the 10 additional levels.

I also severely hope that there won't be a full line of new 70 gear. I'd rather have a lvl70 empowerment so we can keep current gear, just make it a bit stronger.

Housing can be monetized and is a great sink and is probably the most requested feature. So it makes sense. I personally don't know what to make out of it, because I need to see the endgame viability of that feature.

While I also hope that there will be a way to empower current gear to level 70, I unfortunately expect that will not be the case. I will, however, happily have those expectations dashed. :)

Actually, old arti gear does not need to become obsolete. You could just add few tiers to it or... just leave it as it is. And the other gear can be just a bit better than current lvl 60 to reduce powercreep/gs difference to some reasonable level.

Don't be ridiculous. The screenshot clearly shows the paladin an altogether different....yeah, pretty much. But with both GF and DC powers! :)

Let's wait and see how it is implemented.

I really hope actual gear is made obsolete, part of the idea of a level cap raise is just to balance things up and not have all this powercreep continue.

Levels 61-70 are going to be the first tier of Epic. I'm guessing you'll have new Epic feat trees to spend points on.

    New class:

FYI for anyone unfamiliar: it is more Devoted Cleric than Guardian Fighter as Neverwinter goes: Oathbound Paladin.

    General Wikipedia describes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paladin_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons)
In 5th Edition, paladins commit themselves to the path of righteousness and justice and can choose one of three sacred oaths that encompasses the nature of their holy quest.

Oath of Holy Devotion: paladins who appeal to the loftiest ideals of justice, virtue, and honor. Those who take this oath are Lawful Good, following the tenants of Honesty, Courage, Compassion, Honor, and Duty. Nicknamed cavaliers, white knights, or holy warriors.

Oath of the Ancients: paladins who cast their lot in with the side of the light in the cosmic struggle against darkness because they love the beautiful and life-giving things of the world, not necessarily because they believe in principles of honor, courage, and justice. Those who take this oath are typically Neutral Good, putting the principles of good above concerns of law or chaos, and follow the tenants of Kindling the Light, Sheltering the Light, Preserving Their Own Light, and Being the Light. Nicknamed fey knights, green knights, or horned knights.

Oath of Dark Vengeance: a solemn commitment to punishing those who have committed grievous sins. Those who take this oath are typically either Lawful Neutral or Neutral due to their willingness to forsake their own righteousness to mete out justice upon those who do evil. Their tenants are simple: Fight the Greater Evil, No Mercy for the Wicked, By Any Means Necessary, and Restitution. Nicknamed avengers or dark knights.

Paladins can be any of alignment, although evil paladins are extremely rare. However, their Oath and their alignment can either be in harmony, or their Oath might represent standards that they have not yet attained. The 5th edition Dungeon Master's Guide includes an entry for Oathbreaker paladins, including class features and a quick guideline for atonement.

Note that the initial paladin in Neverwinter will be Oathbound. nyuk, nyuk.

As a Devoted Cleric fan in Neverwinter (it's been my main all the way back to alpha/beta) I am really excited for the paladin (my PnP D&D main - when the DM didn't make ridiculous restrictions, anyway).

    Cannot.
    Wait.

And more info on WotC "Elemental Evil" campaign is here:

I'm willing to bet artifact gear levels with your character.

Paladin's are cool. Looks like I guessed correctly. Quick! Everyone rush to AH and buy Perf Holy Avengers! Don't forget mithral platesmithing tools along with master/grandmaster platesmiths!

Save as many enchants as you can as well, since you will have artifacts to level also.

I have a proposition- can we abandon the current topic about artifacts and talk about the results of increased level cap? Like new powers or something? Pretty please? c:

Oathbound paladin is a cool class because its not the standard im holy paladin. They follow an Oath path.
Oath of Devotion (Standard lawful good paladin), Oath of the Ancients (really defensive and usually neutral good), Oath of Vengeance (Kills fast and quick, really effective DD) and Oathbreaker (this is the anti-paladin or blackguard). Would be cool to have one of the paragons be Oathbreaker.

Regardless so stoked its not druid.. Paladin is one of my favorite classes.
