Graphics problems - Texture issues

So. I've been having this problem since Module 5 came out. It happened before Mod 5, but was extremely rare.

My system specs:
Gigabyte Motherboard
Intel i4440 3.0 GHZ Quad Core i5 CPU
16 GB of DDR3
Geforce TI550 1GB video card (running at PCIe 2.1 16X)
Windows 8.1, fully patched and up to date
Windows resides on a 500 GB single platter SATA II drive
ARC, Neverwinter, and STO reside on a 256 GB SSD
Neverwinter settings: I have NWO set to use DX11 (tried DX9, same problem). I have pretty much everything maxed for graphics settings. I have Patching on Demand turned off.

So, here's what's happening: http://i.imgur.com/UwnBwv2.jpg?1

When does it happen? It happens when changing maps, and it happens when talking to NPC's. For example, if I'm in PE for an extended period of time, then I go to IWD, textures take sometimes 3-5 minutes to load, sometimes they load in 4-6 seconds. Usually, when it happens, I alt tab and do something else for a few minutes to let stuff load.

What I have done to attempt to fix this problem: I have Force Verified my client repeatedly. I have updated my graphics drivers. I have reverted them to an older version. I have tried Beta drivers. I have run a TRIM on my SSD. I have defragged and error checked my windows drive. I have all but reinstalled the game.

Any other information: When in DX11 mode, large textures tend to corrupt, or glitch, the most. Effects do glitch/corrupt, but when the ground/building textures have loaded, particle effect graphics are okay; when the ground/buildings glitch, particle effect graphics are large blocks.

When in DX9 mode, large textures tend to not corrupt nearly as much, but particle effects do. Can happen part way through a PVP, if someone jumps on a mount, it's large blurry squares instead of the particle textures.

I have heard from guildies in a number of guilds (yes, I'm guilty of being in like 5 guilds), though other people seem to be having problems less severe than mine.

I have this issue as well. It is highly annoying, especially when dragon red circles don't show up.

Texture issues got better for me half way through Mod 3-4 and with Mod 5, it completely destroyed it again. Highly annoying and frustrating seeing nothing but white cubes and objects such as dragons with no skins. Also random effects such as red ground and fire when there is none.

Get used to after a while. Hell I fought a ToD dragon today and it was just nothing but shiny metal in the cut-scene lol.

    Hello all!
I got the same issue since Mod.5. The textures takes some seconds to fully load and it's really annoying when fighting dragons or entering a new area. Pls fix!

I have this issue a LOT. It tends to go away after some MINUTES.
Oh, and I have a GTX 970. Cryptic really needs to optimize their graphics, because in addition to those crappy textures FPS also tends to drop while GPU usage is never above 40%. CPU never above 70%.

Yeah, textures load, I enter another screen (inventory/profs/mount etc) and the textures disappear and need to reload. It's mildly annoying.

In my opinion and in my own case it is all down to hard drive access. I can cycle through a few characters with no issue at all, then hit number 6, and this issue hits out of nowhere. I play 4TB of mp3s on random play at all times.. different physical disks on same sata cable. Just a buncha disks, no raid setup. Without exception, when I get the texture issue, I also get static breakup on my audio, from Winamp.

I have middle of the road drives in a higher end system. They are ok, but a little slower than I could get if I wanted to pay for them. I think there is some threshold in the game that makes it do a graphics refresh from the disk. I don't have an nVidia card in this system. I really don't think this is a video card problem. I think it just looks like one, because that is what is being thrown at you in a large burst.

(Game is demanding too much data at once and the I/O is insufficient to get it to the display adapter all at once.)

I am having the exact same problem. I arrive in PE for example and all the textures are gone. I wait 30 seconds and they reappear. I open my inventory and they are gone, I wait another 30 seconds and they slowly reappear. It is really annoying. Dragon fights are becoming impossible. I've tried changing my graphics drivers as well (updated to most recent, downdated to an old one pre-problems) and nothing has helped.

Not sure about that. I'm running a fast SATA 6.0 SSD. Access time shouldn't be an issue with modern or near-future games.

I would like to be directed to a post or for someone to take a minute and help me with a graphic issue.
I have heard quite a few players have this problem and blame it on the neverwinter server. My issue is when I load into heavy player area, weather i'm alone or near players. I get lighting issues, squares, and partial character load.
it will fix itself in a few minutes but when talking to an NPC it will glitch itself again.
I have tried to drop my setting to low with no help. it seems that every new update it gets worse.
I was starting to get better and not having as many issues till the new mod hit. more players on the server seems to kill my graphics.
Anything I can do, maybe there's a setting I can turn off? and I know its not my computer, or my bandwidth.
Any help or info would be great, thanks

same here, also get blurry/flashing textures a lot. after talking to NPCs. in large (dragon) battles when there are a lot of players on screen, etc...

I have 2 different computers (GF275GTX with 896mb and GF650ti with 1gb) it happens nearly equally on both

    Here is my rig:

    GTX 690
    Intel i7-3930k @ 3.20 GHZ
    16 GB RAM
    Win 7 Ultimate 64-Bit
    SSD

    Here are my settings:

    AA: 4XTXAA
    Bloom: On
    Chr Detail Distance: Max
    Chr Texture Detail: 75***
    Depth of Field: On
    Display Mode: Windowed Borderless

    GPU-Accel Particles: On
    Lens Flare Quality: High
    Lighting Quality: High
    Max Lights Per Object: 6
    Max Physics Debris Obj: 200
    Max Shadowed Lights: 2
    Multi-core Rendering: On
    Post-Processing: On
Raise Setting in Chr Creator: On
    Reflection Quality: High
    Resolution: 1920X1080
    Resolution Scale: 1000
    Screen-space Ambient Occlusion: On
    Shader Quality: Max
    Shadows: High
    Show High Detail Obj: On
    Soft Particles: On
    Terrain Detail Distance: Max
    Texture Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
    Underwater View: On
Use Full Detail Chr Animations: On
    Use Sliders: Off
    Video Memory Limit: Auto
    Visual FX Quality: High
    World Detail Distance: Max
    World Texture Detail: 75***

Since launch I had Character Texture Detail and World Texture Detail set to 100. Once IWD launched I would rarely, but occasionally, have brief texture issues if I was on for a long time and zoned a lot. Most notably the world map would not load the background all the way when selecting a new zone.

Once Mod 5 launched I have had serious texture issues like in the OP. This would happen when I would zone, stop talking to an NPC, etc... It would happen all the time and was highly annoying.

I used the GeForce Experience Optimization tool and it changed Character Texture Detail and World Texture Detail values from 100 to 200. The issues persisted.

I decided to change those 2 sliders manually from 200 all the way down to 75. The graphics quality decreased noticeably but not bad in my opinion. Since I changed them down to 75 I have not had the texture issue at all.

So it seems to me that this issue which started for me slightly in IWD and seriously with ToD has something to do with the Character Texture Detail setting and/or the World Texture Detail setting. Where 100 was fine for me in the past it is not working right now... Let alone at 200 where nVidia thinks it should be based on my rig specs.

I hope that helps and YMMV.

I have always had this problem as well and it is one of the reasons why I don't play this game as much as I would like to. I do have some extra information that may/may not be relevant to solving the problem however. Whenever I have these texture loading issues (I get missing effect textures as soon as I log in, and after I change maps I get missing textures on mounts, trees etc as well), if I hit escape and bring up the options menu, the textures that aren't loaded will load, which I found odd. This isn't a solution though, as I have to do this repeatedly while moving around a map.

My settings are all maxed/very high, DX11, 8xMSAA or 4xTXAA, vsync off, Advanced is default except I turn off frame limiter and set VRAM to 1024+

I have gone through 3 PC's and always had this problem, my current PC is an i7 4770, GTX 980 4GB, 32GB RAM, Gigabyte G1 Sniper Z5S, Intel SSD's, nothing is overclocked, NVidia control panel settings are defaults with everything application controlled, not forced, so shouldn't be any conflicts there.

I assume this is also tied into the icons at times where you will be unable to change powers as their click and drag is invisible. Sometimes the icon in the powers area will be blank as well. I had this happen today fighting Tiamat and had to use what was loaded as there was no changing it (well you could guess it but sometimes you mess up your changes and can make things worse).

Before I forget. I ran in DX9ex for a couple days to see if that improved this issue any and I didn't notice any difference than running in DX11. However, since switching back to DX11 this morning, this has still been occurring just as often but it clears up much quicker than before when I was in DX9ex and in DX11 before that. The only thing I can think is that when I just reinstalled Rift, it called for a dxwebupdate, which I ran but I didn't pay attention if it updated anything as I wasn't thinking about this at the time. Although, I thought DX11 was handled by Windows Update now on Win8.1 machines? I haven't ran windows update in a while, surely not since Mod 5. I just don't know what's going on! *ruffles his hair like a mad man*

just dropped by in the forums due to the irresistible fps drop from 60 to .5~1 and saw this..

    all i can say is that . . .

"OMG! i am not so alone!" lol..

been having this issue lately and occurs most of the time to what the other people recently posted but is annoying when u cant see the circles, and what you only see is a wide range of red squares, not circles anymore.. lol

I too have this problem and it makes it hard to do tiamat or other dragons for not seeing where the red stuff on the ground will actually land. Many times the screen just consists of weird squares and icons are blank as well. Hope this get's fixed soon. I have tried every combination of settings that i can think of even though my pc should run (and other than loading the textures does run) the game fine. Lowering settings does nothing for me. Also same on dx11 and dx9.

I just came back to the game and blew $150 in the last couple days on mount/companion etc etc etc..... and find this problem... It wasn't there before.

I concur this is massively annoying. It totally ruins the fun for me, I want to love this game so bad but these problems are very in your face. I will mount my Inferno and big orange squares vs. fire.... Run through Enclave and a whole building will be untextured. Talk to a Store and all kinds of textures load slowly.

It goes to the point of opening my bags and none of the icons are loaded for the items. I almost lost my Nightmare mount when I tried to put it in my bag and the icon didn't paint while dragging it to my bag and I get the popup about wanting to destroy it....nooooo way!

I have what I would call and extreme setup: TriSLI GTX980 in a surround setup, it should be perfectly capable of loading textures! But alas no. I feel like I'm playing on an old system. It is lightning fast 100+ FPS though.

I have also posted on Geforce.com hoping nVidia can address the issue as I have seen their patch notes mention Neverwinter fixes in the past. Here is my post:

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/795161/geforce-drivers/issues-with-textures-loading-properly-neverwinter-mmo/

    My System:
    i7 5930K, ASUS X99 Deluxe
    (3) GTX 980 4GB (nvidia 344.80 drivers)
    Samsung EVO 512GB SSD
    16GB Corsair Dominator DDR4
    Windows 8.1

I also tried changing all the quality settings to lowest and nothing helped. Same problems.

Please work with nVidia if necessary and fix this issue.

This is old problem with countless threads about it. It is here since game launch - first time it became irritating was on game going from beta to live event (e.g. velandra attacking protector enclave)
So far the most common thing between all players reporting issue is using SSD ...
