Rare profession tasks scheduled?

Sorry if this is documented somewhere, but I couldn't find it despite googling for hours...

Are the rare profession tasks predictable or on a set schedule? For example, as I do leadership, I may start a 4 hour task only to see that "Protect Diamond Shipment" becomes available 30 minutes later... if I knew it was coming, I wouldn't have started that "Battle Undead" task, so now I miss the opportunity...

Nay. Rare Tasks for the normal professions are random and per character and change every 60 minutes. You can cancel tasks at any time to start a different one. Top right corner of the task in Overview.

You can cancel a task using the little slash icon in the upper right corner of the task. I cancel common tasks to switch out for diamond shipments all the time.

The rare tasks are random, not scheduled. They change every hour but if you haven't viewed your professions for over an hour, they'll default to changing in one hour again.
