Simply google Comcast taking over Time Warner cable or Comcast imposing metered internet fees for over 300 Gb a month usage. So all of us heavy internet users all of the sudden become internet abusers eh.This has already been done in Atlanta GA.Sorry but no one wants a parking meter stuck on their internet especially when some sources say that the cost of distributing bandwidth is going down and more high resolution high def streaming is on it's way.Do everyone a community service and spread the word to gaming conventions and isp's that people do not want this and it is a completly unjustified fee.I know that it is not only Comcast that is doing this hopefully everyone will have the freedom to choose an isp that doesn't.Speak up now before metered internet becomes the norm.
I have a 200 GB per month cap on my internet. Myself and my mate practically live on the internet and we both play MMORPGs as well. We also stream HD video.
All of that said the two of us have not once come close to our cap. I think the most we've ever used was around 80 GB. Maybe closer to 100 GB.
My reason for saying this is that these caps are currently very very reasonable. Sure, it sucks that they exist, but unless you're torrenting (which you should not be anyway) or doing some sort of file sharing service or running a website from your home (that somehow has the traffic of google) you will NEVER hit these caps. I really question why anyone would complain about them.

It's the principle of the thing and leads down a slippery slope which could get much worse.
This is more reason why internet needs to be treated as a utility and either regulated more by state/local gov or ran as a government service itself. Some states do this already and it works better.

Really? If you are on NetFlix and watch one or two movies per day (at HD,) you exceed. Throw in some you tube, ANY online game, and anything else and you are way over cap. Bottom line is.. unless you are either a moron or in a captive audience situation, you pay x for y bandwidth. No one has the right to challenge that just because they think they can make some money on it, and can do so by paying off corrupt politicians.
Wasn't going to comment on this because I really don't care. As long as they stay out of my yards, I won't bury them there.. I do not need the internet, but will use it as long as is reasonable.
I work for a major ISP in the south east. This is nothing more than bad business.. wanting to bleed them dry because they think they can.
(They want to bill regardless that you have paid this service and that service for unlimited access. Wake the hell up.)

I think you missed the fact that I said I do, in fact, stream HD movies from time to time, and youtube videos every day. The two of us still come nowhere close to our cap and we both play World of warcraft and I play Neverwinter too. Plus we use steam, hulu, netflix, and some other free ones as well. Not everything I stream is HD, but some of it is.

The Time Warner news on data caps are from several years ago and all the data cap news on Comcast was from over a year ago. Comcast's data cap fees have since been abolished, they no longer charge for going over the cap and all Comcast users got emails at that time stating such.
Comcast's 250GB data cap was put in place in October of 2008 and has since disabled that threshold. If one is a Comcast customer, all they have to do is look at their intertnet usage and it will clearly say, "Note: Enforcement of the 250GB data consumption threshold is currently suspended."
