You guys get human companions, put chain belts around their necks and give them to the auctioneers to sell and like wow hey just another normal day selling slaves, all good...
he's complaining about slavery when some religious whacko has called out an unofficial militia to mass kill a bunch of flower loving, diminuitive lizard men..... it's the late 60's early 70's all over again, only worse...
don't worry hefisdo, one of them might be Django Unchained and one day will fight and free them all , no matter if some of them were 12 years a slave.
No one can stand against a hungry slave mass , not even <removed>.

It's not slavery. I buy thier contract, they do thier contracted duties. If I choose to sell the contract later, then I will.

Calimshan, Netheril, Mulhorand, and Thay (just to name a few), still practice slavery and their "cops" would laugh as such a person filing charges - heck, they'd probably make that person a slave too! Here on the Sword Coast, we have City-States with their own laws, and some do allow slavery. However, many Companions are willing employees of their masters. As far as I know, selling or auctioning off contracts is not considered slave trading.
Nevermind the semi-slavery or the religious whackjob, think about those poor innocent Lizardfolk just trying to defend their homes against the brutal ruthless brigands who want to take everything from them. And we slaughter them by the hundreds. For money. Lizardfolk are neutral, too. They just want to live their lives in peace and we show up and murder them.

How do you "sell or auction off contracts" when said contracts are bound on pickup?

Some aren't contracts. It's really like they're at the auction house... AGAINST THEIR WILL!
This is not okay. I'll have to make justice by myself.

I think BoP contracts can be interpreted as "I owe you one... and only to you.".
