Finding neat ways of playing every class has always been my main motivation in playing MMO's. I've played a decent amount of them but not one of the other MMO's I've played so far will ever compare to NW's combat system which I really, really love. Now if only I had the freedom of attaining the items I need to create and test certain theoretical builds here in NW.

Waiting on Module 3. If it is poorly done, or just another grind with a few repeatable quests you must do for weeks, and then its' done, well then that will be what we can expect from now on , and I'll move on. I think 3 chances (i don't count GG, as it was such a huge disappointment for me, i refuse to think they took it seriously) is enough for any game.

Honestly I would get over to the test server (ie copy your character up to the IWD testing).

While this content is far from ready, it IS actually incredibly fun...

    However...

The quests are very very limited currently. I have been trying hard to feedback the Devs to add more quests so this content which is incredibly fun, does not get stale the way Sharandar and Dread Ring did with the same quests over and over.

I have in my feedback advised at minimum 10 quests per NPC per zone, preferably a good 15. The Heroic encounters are incredibly fun, and the few quests I have seen (that are getting repetetive) are very well designed. I actually get a lot of use out of Mounts in this one too, unlike in some of the other zones. Friends I've taken there also have considered upgrading mounts due to actually needing them to get around. The zones are huge and open.

    BUT...

They will seriously need to add a TON more quests at this point. Or what started as something fun, adventurous and new, will indeed grow stale very quickly.

So I would get over there see what you see, and FEEDBACK that kind of information, they seriously need a ton more quests at this point. And that needs to be hammered home.

    To have some fun.
I likes some gear, yes, but I like the gear to be able to run the content - as opposed to running the content to get the gear.

That's my feelings in a nutshell right there.

Also Sandukutupu, I am a HUGE Star Trek fan, I will check out your STO missions. Hope you are making some here as well.

    Ryu, nice song!

I only started playing two weeks or so ago, and hit 60 (Far, FAR too quickly a few days back (I couldn't even do a handful of the dungeons/skirmishes, as I held off to the end of the quest chains to do them, and was then over-levelled)...

Anyway, I started playing as I've enjoyed the computer D&D games I've played (Never knew anyone who played desktop alas), and heard good things about this game (And nothing at all, good or bad about D&D: Online, despite spending a couple of years playing Lord of the Rings Online which is made by the same company, Turbine).

Will I continue playing longterm... I don't think so. The game seems to centre around end-game group content which isn't really my thing, and the Dread Ring and Sharandar are a bit too repetitive... That said, I thoroughly enjoyed Respen's Marvellous Game last week, and somewhat enjoyed the last Call to Arms event (Somewhat, as it took an ungodly amount of goes to get a Druid), so I'll probably log in for events.

Ultimately... I think the game is a bit too actiony for me to play long term... Nothing wrong with that, and in fact it probably appeals to a wider audience as it is, but... It's not my cup of mead.

I'm pretty much with Skalt. The only thing that drew me to this MMO was the Dungeon & Dragons title, since I like D&D (except 4ed), which had me hoping it would break out of the pack of derivative MMOs with something fresh. The combat side is fresh, but the rest is certainly lacking the D&D flavour.

Well admittedly there is some screwiness in the storyline, like... why is Valindra an Elf when the Thayans are supposed to be basically Human Supremecists who consider all demi-humans as inferior. How exactly did an Elf ever gain any kind of power in Thay. And be accepted there. She should be human.

Still I will say in the end, this game actually has the feel of D&D to me. Its not exactly accurate, but the actual gameplay feels very like it surprisingly.

I do actually feel heroic in the Story base PvE adventures.

Though sometimes the MMO feel can ruin that feeling a little. Still... the base creation wasn't bad.

think i can help you out there. Valindra didnt gain influence/power in Thay until AFTER she became a powerful Lich. Szaz Tam may be a Human Supremacist (never heard that b4 btw, whats ur source?), but he's not a fool, and turning away a powerful potential ally (and thus possibly making an enemy of them) would be extremely foolish.

Er... Thayan zulkirs are all liches. While the former thayan zulkirs were all human, I never came across any piece of information that makes the lich zulkirs some race supremacist since they are undead, and have been so for over 200 years...

i'm just going off what Silverquick said, I had never heard of them being like that either TBH.

Well that would require a bit of forthought to understand that.

They were Thayans before they became Liches and Zulkirs. That was the Thayan belief. Demi-humans were lesser races to Humans.

Hence, how did someone like Valindra ever even get power enough to become a lich as a Thayan. It wouldn't be possible in that society. Ergo... its a little screwy.

i'm just here for the free coffee. someone pass the sugar?

before i started playing neverwinter, i was playing first gen d3 and it was okay, but between that and a few other fps games, something was missing from my gaming life. apparently. a friend of mine suggested we try it out, since open beta had just started and so we did. i was pretty impressed with the art direction and the combat action was very nice... the first time leveling wasn't tedious and it was fun seeing what was around the corner. and i suppose that's pretty much why i continue to play. the combat action is probably one of the best i've experienced in an MMO. the versatility of the different offerings even at end game isn't bad. and its free. with each module and event, things tend to get better and better. it'll be interesting to see what neverwinter looks like three years into it. or what PWE brings to the table after this.

I am no FR expert, but her timeline indicates she became a lich prior to travelling to Thay.

I came here just to try it, but what keeps me here and will probably keep me here for a long time is the foundry.
There are very few MMOs that have such a tool. And unless another MMO comes with a better similar tool, I'll still be here.
The maps in NW are nice, but I wish we had bigger maps, with more freedom to explore. Exploration is very fun to me, to find hidden things and easter eggs is one of the most fun things in a game. There's isn't much of that in the maps, but there is in the foundry.
I enjoy a bit of pvp too, but I'm more of a casual pvper.

Usually, for me, when I play games, I tend to have a set of goals that once I fulfill or drop, result in me losing most, if not all, interest in the game. That's when I move on to the next game.

Sometimes I may drop some goals if it gets too grindy or impossible or just not fun to do.

Currently, for Neverwinter, my goals are:

    1. Finish making my Foundry campaign. I might cut this goal short if I get bored of doing it since there isn't much appreciation or reward for foundry authors anyway. So, if I get bored of it, I will either end it abruptly just for completion's sake or leave it hanging. It probably won't matter anyway.

    2. Get a set of T2 for my main character. I might drop this since I can't get into dungeons using the current queue system. I might join a guild to resolve this though once I got more time to play. My coming exams is cutting playtime really short if logging in just to invoke counts as playing.

    3. Get the boons from Sharandar and Dread Ring campaign. I've unlocked the third gate in Sharandar and got the third boon in Dread Ring and it seems ok so far, but Sharandar really feels kinda grindy for me. I may or may not drop it as I progress further but I probably will finish them.

    4. Get the Angel of Protection. This might be dropped if I finished the other goals first.

I plan to buy a DLC pack once the next module is out, mainly for a mount and armor/weapon enchantment. Just want to see whether the next DLC is better than the current ones before I buy it.

So far, I have spent quite a bit in a few waves of 5 - 10 USD on Zen which, on hindsight, seems a waste since I probably should have accumulated the money and bought a DLC pack in one shot.

However, if I lose interest before the next DLC comes out, which shouldn't be too likely since the next module will be out soon, then naturally I won't be buying it.

As this is the first, and only, MMO I have ever played... I began, and continue, for my love of DnD. Pretty simple and straight forward for why I started.

Why I continue? Because I genuinely enjoy the game... It's combat, the Foundry, the content, the DnD Lore, PvE/PvP and the friends I have made.
