3d edit is awesome, Kirksplat. Really really awesome. I'd pay $100 right now to have it in STO. It cuts down on quirky custom map making SIGNIFICANTLY.

And the only big 'bug' is that stuff you move loses solidity until you refresh the map, so if you move something you are standing on you might fall through. That's not terribly hard to work around.

Really? When I messed around with it, it was doing all kinds of weird things. Just trying to build a city in the sky was a nightmare of falling through the map, having Y values automatically reset, and generally being unable to manually edit x y z values just to make a set of platforms in the sky. But, I only messed around with it for like an hour, before I gave up.

Well, NW devs actually put a LITTLE work into it over the last 8 months. Not a lot, but they particularly tweaked the 3d edit a few times. For example, they added the ability to add assets directly in 3d edit mode rather than having to go to 2d edit mode to do so.

For 3d edit, set yourself to free camera mode. It will allow to fly basically and makes it 1,000 times easier.

My completely unofficial speculation is that what they want to do for the foundry is to big to get it out in a timely manner. The last official statement about the Foundry, granted that was a few months ago, was that they plan on making true trees instead of linear quest paths.

Also I had asked about The Foundry in one of the Adventure Hours when Terramak was on the show and he said that the Foundry will probably be getting some major focus in Module 4 or 5.

If this does happen, it will be pretty darn awesome, I"ll wait till we get some official announcement before getting too excited though.

I wanted to highlight one today, but we are currently experiencing a significant downtime. Expect to see it soon!

Sounds great! Will you also feature some? Or just the spotlight? (It's been three in the past.)

So, I'm currently entering the final stages of developing my quest, and after reading this thread I'm a little confused. Should I just hit the "Submit to Cryptic" button? Should I write up a guest blog? Both? Just need a little direction there.

Part of the problem is that everyone hits the "Submit to Cryptic" button so quickly. Don't do that. Publish it first. Play it on live, then go back and fix the things you missed. Republish, play it, tweak it, rinse-and-repeat. Only when you are absolutely certain everything is just the way you want and expect it, then republish with the "Submit to Cryptic" option.

There are a bazillion half-baked Foundry quests all "Submitted" to Cryptic. This only makes the Community Manager's job THAT much more difficult. And also why so many of the Featured Quests are HAMSTER (seriously, there are much better quests - but who has the time to explore them all and find those real gems?)

Believe me, I wasn't about to send in a half-broken quest for approval - I'll never get my book imp if I do that. I do appreciate you mentioning it though, and I'm certainly going to make sure it's as good as possible before I finish it up and send it in.

    Bumping this.

They need to get someone (preferably multiple someones, so that it's not always just one person, with the preferences of whoever that person is affecting who gets featured) on this ASAP. It's been too long, and without the possibility of getting featured, the possibility of getting the high-end Foundry achievement rewards is slim indeed. Unless you make one of those crappy achievement exploit campaigns that are now infesting the "best" list....

Honestly, how hard can it be.

I thought I would have a little look at the forum and see if any changes have been made... Nope. So off I go...

If you are tired of Foundry issues (and want to create longer than 15 minute quests and get plays), I would encourage you to come play with me in EQ Landmark which is where I have moved to.

It is basically the Foundry on steroids. An entire world sandbox where the foundry as it were is the entire focus of the game. It's only closed beta, but already offers much more robust (and enjoyable) creation systems IMHO. Their step next will be addition of player created quests, pvp, and a lot more. Then things will really get interesting.

I'm not a paid shill, I just was blown away by my experience and think some of you guys would be too. I would love to set up a guild there as well at some point so look me up there if you find your way.

I hope some of you guys will check it out and join me. I'm on the serenity server.

    Cheers. Carry on.

    Sounds interesting.

I'm mainly playing Neverwinter for the Foundry aspect anyway. So, a Foundry on steroids sounds good=)

Guess I'll check it out once my exams are over.

I'm not really fond of Everquest Next graphic style though and it's just in closed beta. But I'll keep a look on it and see how it goes from there.

Ok, I've never been quite clear on this. What's the difference between Spotlight and Featured? Are they the same thing? Different things? If different, will you also be choosing some new Featured quests in the near future?

Spotlight is when they make a video of the quest. Featured is when they take three submitted quests and make a duplicate of them that gets stuck at the top of the list for a while and gives no XP penalties. Usually featured gives a lot more plays then spotlight, however the spotlight is almost always a featured quest as well from what I saw.

In this case though, I think Akromatik is talking about both.

    Hi, just a suggestion.

You may want to focus a little more on updating the "Featured Foundries" frequently than on the "Foundry Spotlight".

This is because the "Featured Foundries" tab is actually the one that gives quests (particularly those by new authors or those who have never been featured before) plays.

It helps these quests bypass the incredibly "genius" adjusted rating system and actually be known to "exist" by most Foundry players who will not look past, say, the first 3 pages in the job board.

Majority of players who play Foundry quests will more likely see the featured tab but may not necessarily look at the foundry spotlight.

In a way, getting onto the "Featured" tab is like getting the cake. Appearing on "Foundry Spotlight" is just the icing on the cake.

So, please please give us the cake more=)

What I definitely want to see is more Featured quests, then. Spotlight is nice and all, but Featured has in-game effects.
