Did CRYPTIC get this from Doctor Who or is it merely coincidence?

So i was doing quests killing mobs and then they said "BURN WITH ME!!!" both me and my girlfriend looked at eachother and were like "Did they get that from Doctor Who, the episode called 42?"

The reason i say this is because Doctor Who, and this episode, were out in 2007 so it can't be the other way around.

I kinda hope it's a reference to the show and nothing more... Wouldn't be the first time I've read or heard things in this game that reference other games, tv shows or even movies.

I'm a Doctor Who fan so this one kinda annoyed me a little bit and i hope that it's either a coincidence or a reference and not a stealz.

That was a good movie xD

Some of the mobs sound like Golum from LOTR. I also noticed the "Wilhelm scream" which is a stock sound movies have been using for about 50+ years (can be heard when you open the drawbridge on Storming the Keep.)

I also hear mobs sometimes say "ARROW TO THE KNEE!" but i deem that one to be a comical tribute if anything.

Might be, or it could as easily be a reference to the song 'Heaven's on Fire' by Kiss, or 2 dozen other songs that used the phrase before Y2K.

Either way, it probably is a nod to something.

Coolest Dr. Who reference I ever saw in a video game was in one of the FallOut PC games where the Tardis actually appears briefly in a random encounter. =)

There are tons of pop culture references in the game. I think the orc warcry of "axe to the head" is a reference to the "boot to the head" sketch by The Frantics

    Haha!

The nod in the game that hits me as funniest is seeing the slaves in Dread Ring say "work work..." which may have other roots, but I remember the troll workers saying that from the PC games that preceded WoW (which I've never played, I only played up to WC3, and offline.)

Cryptic is really big on homage/Easter eggs in their games. Can't help but think it's more than a coincidence.

Fallout 1, it was a random encounter out in the wilderness, IIRC.

A lot of NPC's say innuendos if you pay attention.

"What would Gruumsh do?" and the Courier in the Tower District who has an arrow in his knee just to name a couple off the top of my head.

In short I wouldn't doubt that it is intended. :)

Hello I am trying to just download this game but my ticket is not being answered.

    Yes, many online games uses famous movie and TV lines. Guild Wars (not 2) not only uses famous quotes but each character depending on the profession has a different dance. For example;

Warrior males is from "Saturday Night Fever" and females from "Pulp Fiction". Monk's dance is used by Zhang Ziyi in "House of the Flying Daggers". Female Necromancers do Michael Jackson's "Thriller" while the males headbang and hold up the sign of Satan. Mesmers do clogging like "River Dance" or "Lord of Dance". Male Elementalist do a weird dance from Seinfeld and Friends in the episode entitled "The Little Kicks". Dervish males dance like Christopher Walken in Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice". Ritualists do the dance from movie "Napoleon Dynamite".

It really is no surprise the devs slip in lines from their favorites. I just was hoping to get an answer today and support has been nothing for 2 days now.
