I can't really speak to the Coalescent Ward rate as I have always been unlucky with the Coffer from Invoking. I believe I have only gotten 2 or 3 since Beta with my 2 characters. What I have noticed is that the RNG most certainly needs work. The Profession Nodes are the most obvious symptom. I can open "X" number without a failure, but once I fail, I must fail 3 times in a row before being successful again. It doesn't matter if it is the same node or three different ones. It also doesn't matter if I was successful once or ten times since the last failure. Enchantment fusion and other actions that use the RNG show similar patterns.
It's definitely lower than it used to be it changed around Fey IMO. I used to get 2 or 3 out of 10 characters now I'm lucky to get 1 out of 14 characters a week and I have been keeping track since i started the first week of beta. For me it was about 20% when I started playing and now it's under 10% probably under 5% but I would like to hear from someone running 50 or a hundred alts that has kept track just out of curiosity to see if they noticed the % drop like I have...
Yes a agree 'random' is 'random' but the sheer amount of players posting and comenting in game concerning the noticable lower drop rate of coal wards does lead to a obvious fact the drop rate is lower.
Not really. A couple things tend to affect our view of that. For one thing people tend to remember bad things more than good. Bad things just stick with them, it takes a pretty spectacular 'good' event to hang in our thoughts just as well. The other is that players having lucky streaks usually just aren't bothering to come to the forum and post about how they got a bunch of coal wards.
At first I felt the same, thought it was nerfed. Made a post about it even. But over time I see its just stupid random. And like others have said Cryptic's random generator is streaky beyond belief. For example: Failing a 40% fuse 10 times in a row just shouldn't happen often. But in this game I can see it happen a lot.
I have no idea what the actual % rate for the coal wards is. But its probably a tiny mega-lottery chance that I got 10 of them. And next time I will probably be like "ugh" as I only get 1 (or even none) out of 30 or something. That's what I mean though, its just super random.
Playing poker with the Card counter, could not describe it best. I'm sad to say I agree with this issue and been felling like that for some time now in the game. I love this game but its really killing me this low random rate drop thing, specially when u have to buy keys with the boxes only to get unwanted stuff is one of the most noticeable examples.

We aren't talking about the lockboxes and the optional keys, but the Coffer you get from the Celestial Coins after having Invoked for 7 days. Celestial Coin buys are not optional, you must buy something after 7 days. The complaint is about the low drop rate from these mandatory purchases.

The guy directly above me was talking about having to buy keys. And I reiterate that nobody HAS to buy keys.
As for celestial coin purchases... yes, you do need to spend them or you won't get any more, so it makes sense to spend them. Saying you HAVE to though? That's a choice. You could choose not to, and click through the warning because you only want ardents. You could choose to not bother invoking at all. But people earn them and then spend them because they want their stab at the best prize, for which your ticket was essentially free.

Invoking is in the game to get you to log in every day. Period. That is its sole purpose. If you miss you lose them all. I think they put the mandatory 7 limit on celestials to protect players somewhat when they miss. They MAKE you take these so the whole thing isn't just a waste of time if you fail. Ardent coins are pie in the sky. I'm sure that only a small percentage of players will ever get to the 'log in every day for a year' angel. but everyone is going to have SOMETHING to show for invoking even if they are not perfect. Between the two types its pretty hard to find an excuse to rage/quit instead of just logging in whenever you can and invoking.
Personally I take the Celestial Coins as they come, and whatever comes out of the Coffer is fine by me. I was merely reiterating the OPs comment about his perception that the drop rate had changed on the Coalescent Wards.

I gota disagree with you on this. Yes, it will only be a percentage of players. But I don't think it will be tiny. When the magic date comes around, and for weeks after. We will be awash in angels. It will be wings and halos for as far as the eye can see. It will look like the rapture came to Neverwinter.
Shortly after that will be page after page of unbridled forum rage about how poorly the angel actually preforms. Even, if it actually might preform very well. Only in a forum like this can Angles be turned into some kind of Harbinger of doom

I played for two months and never got a single coal ward. Today marks the third week in a row that I've gotten one - 5 characters invoking. On the other hand, I've started resorting to using preservation wards to make Dark 5's after four in a row failed.

Lol. I tend to believe you are 100% correct on this one. Hopefully anyone playing this game for a solid year would know not to expect a lot from a companion and the rage will be kept to a minimum.

So last week with 29 characters reaching 7 coins on one day I got 10 coal wards.
This week with 30 characters reaching 7 coins on one day I got 3 coal wards.
I thought it was going to be 31 characters, but I was off a bit on one of my characters invoking. Anyway, the interesting thing to me is the way that I got the wards. 20 characters in a row I got nothing. Then the next 3 characters I got a coal ward on each. Then the next 7, nothing.
Given that many seem to think the wards have a 5% to 20% chance to drop from the box... That scenario is certainly within the realm of possibility. But it is highly unlikely. And as I've said, its the yucky streakiness of Cryptic's RNG that makes people think stuff like this has been nerfed.

Only God can make a random number... but Cryptic's RNG is clear nothing like random... or even close to random.
