I haven't had them up simultaneously, but I've come **** close. but not in PVP.
this thread isn't about PVP anyway though. it's about PVE tanking.

Ok OP, what is the thread about? You wanted REAL tanking? Any GWF can tank a pve encounter. Tanking is NOT threat generation. I'm guessing that GFs can only do threat generation. Everything else is better with a GWF.

I've stacked my dailies a few times here and there when I wasn't even really trying. Maybe once you learn2play, the impossible will become possible for you.
Just because someone else can see your point doesn't mean it isn't a stupid one. So what, it just means you both fail at playing the class...big whoop.
Silly kid, no one with any sense plays GG anyway. No surprise it's full of GWF.

Yep, no one PvPs anyways, silly girl. Five seconds and your block meter is gone. There is no daily that can replenish that.

Tell me who is on top of the PvP boards again? GFs are only good 1v1. Even though GFs can get 2 or 3 big hits, they have nothing after that. They cannot run away, block can be easily disabled, and they have no dailies to save them. GWFs were recently buffed and have Unstoppable + temp hp + superspeed. They can regen their full health bar + tank 5-10 people at once. Fighter's recovery is a crappy skill compared to what a GWF can accomplish.

Many of the posts here made me laugh a lot. Seriously. Just one tip: Don't speak about clases, speak about players :). Most of the people hyping or understimating clases are just wannabes that aren't able to master anything. Online games are like most other things, not everyone is suitable to play at high level, same as most of us cannot play piano or paint a Mona Lisa.

Here are your two big mistakes........First and foremost Tanking IS THREAT GENERATION!!! if you do not generate enough threat for the mobs to attack you, then you are not tanking HAMSTER. 2nd mistake YOU GUESS! you have no clue how a GF plays at all. I can generate threat and hold agro on every mob in the room if i wanted to. Keep my self alive via fighters recovery and Villian menace. And still come out on top damage over the CW and the TR and ofc the GWF. You summed it up right there in this post that you know nothing about GFs, this game, and pve at all.

Ill believe you the sec a gwf pulls a mob off me.

Also, fighters recovery > unstoppable. One aoe ability while under fr almost always fills me to full health. Last i checked, unstoppable cant do that. Considering the crazy ap gen gfs have fr can be used a lot. Of course, not as much as unstoppable, but still several times a boss fight.

Funny the complaints about GF really look uninformed. If you play a GF wrong, it will stink. Yes tanking is drawing aggro and being able to hold it without dying. Guard won't break if your playing the class correctly. GF has plenty of quick-movement and aoe damage abilities. GF, DC, and some random sufficient dps and you are good to go anywhere. GF is an anchor class. Th same can't really be said for GWF.

Yes, GWF lacks snap agro abilities. Tanking as GWF is very fun until you start to lose monsters no matter what you do, and eventually you will lose them. Fighting loads of adds and new adds spawn near CW/DC? You will not be there on time. The point I try to make is GWF if party ASSISTANT, helping with all things except healing, poor DCs, no assist for you.

Ok, i can tell without even thinking very hard that the OP is new to MMOs, so let the education begins:

The tank role on ANY MMO is not to just absorb dmg, but to hold the agro from mobs as well. If you can take a hit but every mob just decide to circle around you and chew on your DC/CW/TR then it means nothing that you can survive the attacks.

I have a friend with a really outstanding Sentinel GWF. And I mean REALLY outstanding. He's the only GWF with whom I dare to go to T2 instances without a GF and it's still harder, but on a manageable level. The way I see it the best sentinel GWFs are on par with mediocre GFs, so I don't see your problem. It is one of the rare things Cryptic balanced out right in my opinion.

In PvP I fear going up against GFs way more than I do GWFs, in PvE I'd still much rather have GFs on my side.

the promise to take ads off of DC's in exchange for nerfing DC's has been an absolute joke

Where in the class description are GWF described as defenders? They're tanky DPS, AoE DPS, not tanks.

Who tested this HAMSTER before they put it on the servers? When can GWFs tank better in PvE & PvP?

GFs get what? A block meter than renders them useless when its gone? If I understand this new meta, then we need to dump GF as a class...

GWF has: Unstoppable, Temp HP, Great Defense, Movement Speed, Healing.

GF has: Shield that breaks in 5 seconds, Threat generation. Threat generation is the only thing making GFs usable. GWFs are superior in every other way.

GF are very necessary for final boss on Epic Frozen Heart. Plus, they're fun as all get-out in PVP. They're not going anywhere.

Not necessary at all actually. Helpful yes, but not necessary.

The OP is just trolling on a "nerf GWF" agenda... he's obnoxious as hell and this topic is ridiculous...
