Ah yes sorry, that was bad maths it increases the amount you can cast it by that percentage rather than reduce your spell cooldowns by said percentage, i re-edited it.

    Great work !
After some time of casting spells on dummies while being nude (no feats, no recovery, total ap gain = +3% due to 13 wisdom), I got the base ap gain values of these powers :
    AP gain %	Notes
    Entangling force	4.8	/ target
    Conduit of Ice	7.36
Shield	4.78	/ target, unaffected by recovery, stats and feats
    Steal Time	8.83
    Icy Terrain	"
"	Capped at 8% (rank 1 is capped at 10%)
    Chill strike	2.43
    Repel	2.22	/ target
    Ray of enfeeblement	4.75
Icy rays	8.03	AP gained on second shot
    Magic missile (1st shot)	0.81
    Magic missile (full shots)	2.39
    Chilling cloud (1st shot)	0.5
    Chilling cloud (full shots)	2.4
    Storm pillar (uncharged)	0.87
    Storm pillar (with ctrl)	0.45

The 3% from wisdom is already deduced. Note that Controlling action is not bugged, shield is just unaffected by anything.

PS : shard is not considered a control power by Archmage set

    Thanks copticone.

Wanted to add here, though i havent tested it thoroughly yet, I believe Repel is currently bugged and is not effected by arcane stacks since this patch

Thanks for more data, hmm is shard isnt considered a control by archmage, then i wonder what it is considered a control power. I swear i read it somewhere, guess ill make an edit.

Entangling Force, Icy Rays, Steal Time, and Chill Strike.
How Cryptic trolls the entire NWO playerbase: 9200 GS listed for CN, implying anyone who needs more has no skill.

Oddly there isnt some universal list of control powers.
Archmage works with : Entangling force, Icy terrain, Shield, Steal time (6 sec), Repel, Chill strike.
But Focal magi does consider shard as a control power, for example...

our sets are strange indeed. Also i just tested that conduit of ice now applies high vizier. on tab and normal. 2x application and then another after the first tick on the primary and additional targets. keeping 3 stacks up shouldnt be a problem now, and a great addition for thaum specced (for pvp too)

Thank you for making such an excellent guide.

    Question:
    Wizard's Wrath + Focused Wizardy + Evocation
    Do their bonuses stack?

Currently, I am using the Archmage set with WW + FW + Evoc + Storm spell
powers are chill strike (tab) + steal time + icy terrain (or entangling force) + shield + ice knife + arcane singularity.
My unbufffed critical strike is 1125 (chance = 27.9%)

Should I use Evocation and storm spell or something else?

Evocation +15% dmg from chill strike on tab, shield and steal time. Chilling presence up to +18% dmg from all spells. Learned spellcaster +5% dmg from all spells.
    Make your choise.

what he said, its really depends on your playstyle, if you can get stacks of chills up on things you are hitting then chilling presence is great, personally i only use chilling if im using the conduit mastery and icy terrain combo. As for those feats, they do stack.

My CW is a dps Thaumaturge build.
Since I started using Evocation + Storm spell, my action points fill up slowly.
I changed to Eye of the Storm + Storm spell and now my action points seem to fill up sooner.

for anyone with AP problems, i suggest getting critical power, the tier 1 renegade feat.

when trying to generate AP, you only really use entangle, shield, steal time + some other, if your other one is an aoe spell, like icy terrain (doesnt crit anyway) or shard, you can generate alot of extra power with this feat, as it will always active at 5+ strength

Not sure how many follow this but Shadow weaver is currently bugged. my guild has tested it extensively and when you first start using it (the buffs) you have 1:36 mins to apply the buff, after that you will not be able to activate it again for 1:38 seconds (cooldown)

Its a strange bug and worth a note, if you currently use shadow weaver.

Hi Grimah, visiting your thread again

would like to add, Ray of enfeeblement also has benefit from Arcane Stacks by having increased debuff duration. You may want to add it in the Arcane Stacks section of your guide:)

How long does the defence buff/debuff from the High Vizier set last on targets/self, and is the list of applicable control skills more accurate than that on the Wiki? Thanks

each set seems to class different spells as control. ive noted it below the sets (missing focal)

when it says x1 buff it means it will stack up to 3 times for yourself. and it lasts for 6 seconds, ive edited the description a bit more to be more useful.

It is also important to note that adding a stack refreshes the timer.

Thank you for this, This is my first Wizard ever for any game and the information helps a lot. It also explains why I'm so slow and my recharging is so slow. I can almost never get more than 2 dailies even in dungeons with bosses. It really helps a lot. I also lie that you don't say use only this or this but you say this usually works best but use what you are most comfortable with. Especially since I hate pvp and now I can set up my character for monster fighting
