so i just remove my 15k equip to get matched with those low-GS-scrubs, put my stuff back on once it started and exnjoy my easy win, right?
gearscore restrictions can and will be played, it will solve nothing and only make it worse
easy to solve, just have the devs make GS work like in DC universe, where your gear score is measured by what you got on your bag, and not only your body.
a problem with this that I see, is that gs is rather meaningless. My 8k gs cw has no problems taking on a 15k gs gf.
my 10.4k gwf (will stay there forever for the most part) can take on most conquerer builds 12k+ 2 at a time, kill both and be fine afterwards.
gs does not replace skill nor ability. Also with how conquerers dress (mine is a conq too) they are wearing paper, and you will still one-shot them or two-shot them anyway. same with most cw's, and clerics.
tr's dependant on their deflection chance :P dang tr's.
bring your crit close to 50%, stack rest in power, perf vorpal, and your golden.

Dipping in to say that we are looking into PvP queue improvements. Can't give an ETA when they will be live, but will hopefully address much of the "Yay I'm level 60! Time for PvP!" ... "Oh god, the Omega 60s are crushing me." issues that are currently present.
I'm kind of tired of playing against low geared people who i can 1 or 2 shot them with my lashing blade. It is frustrating for them and is boring for me. I want a challenge.
I'm suggesting making a queue dependent on the Gear Score of the player, and this is why:
1- Low/High gear score players will have a chance to join a PvP match with players equivalent to their gear lvls.
2- Will limit the amount of bots we see in the lvl 60 PvP (since the bot owners will have to actually gear up his character in order to queue up).
How to make it?
Divide the queu'ing system into three categories : 8.5k+ , 9.5k+ , 10.5k+
There is no way for a bot user to spend effort on his character and gear them up to meet up with the limit of queue (unless he is really really persistent lol).
PS:
-Complaining about the OPness of a certain class is absolutely your problem and not in the area of discussion on this post. There are dozen more posts for that matter.
-This idea is suggested for the LvL 60 PvP ONLY.
- Make players get instantly kicked out of the PvP map if they change gears inside or while queue is up. (so no 11k+ players change his gear into weaker one to get queu'ed to the 8.5k category for example, then change it back when he is already in).
- Make players get instantly kicked out of the PvP map,if they change gears while que is poped already (since they will surpass the queue's requirements).
Update 2/7/2013 based on replies: GFs and GWFs have feats that allow them to get higher GS than other classes.
That will force them to queue up in high GS ques while they aren't properly geared for it.
Perhaps a fix to these feats that would make them not adding any additional score to the Gear Score, and make the Gear score only shows what your gear gives.
Update 3/7/2013: I've got caught by the grammar and spelling police. So i've corrected the word "que" into "queue" based on their feed back.
Thank you.
I'm a CW and personnaly i can beat any TR with green gear (although currently i got hold on the best gear for CW in-game).
If the person get's hit by a lashing blade, he's a total idiot // GWF maybe gf. GWF are OP, no problem. GF shouldnt die in 2 hits, no matter what.
As for other classes, I have them all level 60. If a TR get's caught by another TR's lashing blade... he just failed the 1v1, not much more complicated. A dc should always have astral shield on themselves and as soon as they spot a TR be ready with BTS (reduces their dmg by 40% ~ combined with the astral shield, My DC laughs at tr's.
CW's have 3 teleport and a repel if slotted, I've yet to see a problematic TR. It's so freaking obvious they always run straight for you and open with lashing blade/dazing strike. Then it's all about a little practice at timing your teleport. I havn't got hit by that //except while CC'd by some other class ~ for the past week and even more. Even that smoke bomb is easy to avoid, there's a small delay before you get dazed and slowed, which you can use to dash//teleport away.
It's about skills, not gear. Gear does help a lot, it is true, but that's mostly for classes like gwf a little // TR's and GF mostly.

You described the most generic TR, using all the wrong skills, so you gave a bad example.
What server are you on?

Mindflayer ~ I pvp a lot, in fact my Cw's build with pvp in mind. But no, no rogue skill is effective with 3 teleports and a repel. The only annoying one is shocking execution which cannot be dodged. Lurker's assault is better damage wise, but I dont get hit in the first place, it's not much of a problem.. is it.
And no, that's all TR's. Even the one that comes in your back are obvious, because once they are close you see them, and you can avoid. If they trow dagger, just teleport ever 4~ daggers or so. either towards them to try to pull **** them, either away to break their stacks. Impact shot was never a problem, deft strike lashing blade either. ItC is the only skill which can someone trow out f balance, but again, you can just avoid them while that's on.

Seems like you're a lucky guy, that you never met a proper rogue yet :]

Or maybe he is just more aware of his surroundings more than most of the CWs.
Impact shot and lashing blade are dodge able if you can see it coming, so the rogue has to make sure that he activated the stealth without being seen by the CW if he wants to land his LB.
This is a great idea! I'm all for it. But.. what about newbie lvl 60's gear score below 8.5k?? I just hit 60, and my guildie was nice enough to get me some pvp gear. My GS is now 7.9k.
Maybe add 3 new levels? 2.5k and below, 4.5k, 6.5k - 7.5k ??

He described the most generic rogues setups out there, all the scenarios include lashing blade as starters, that's not how proper rogues play.
People would just rig their gear scores, for BiS for that bracket. Bad pvp'ers are still bad and you get more glory for it. Not to mention Weapon and Armor enchantments do not affect GS at all. So someone with perfect Vorpal or Soulforged chants will still get in. Then there is the Divine Emissary set that artificially and erroneously lowers GS numbers by 500 pts too.
I use to get ripped up in PVP all the time, I got better and I got better gear (definitely not BiS though LOL), and I do a lot better. However, against good premades I get shredded like nothing, especially if their gear is better, but it made me much better at pvp getting curb stomped.
Besides if you start segregating pvp'ers, the queue's get a long longer and people will start BMC'ing how it takes hours to get in a match.
This idea flat out wont work because gear score means almost nothing. The best PVP GWFs in the game have a GS of ~10.4k and will roll anyone with equal GS. Also things like weapon enchants will throw this off as well...
The ONLY way this would work is if you split it between say two brackets <10k and >10k Even then id say it would be better to go with a different matchmaking solution... Like the post in my link...

I think you're right, gearscore's will be rigged. But if Cryptic would fix the gearscores, and make it so that you can't change gears when in a match, that would probably sort itself out.
I'm not too worried about queue-times. In the pre-60 brackets the waiting time isn't all that bad, and that's still the entire population roughly divided by 6. When there are 3 tiers for PvP, you'd get the huge lvl60 population divided by three. I really don't think this would impact the time all that much.
And personally I'd like three tiers, kinda like green, blue and purple. Fresh 60's, full T1 gear, full T2 gear... or something relating to that. (I know people match sets)
The idea kind of makes sense, but then where is your incentive to get better? Plus, nothing's more fun than entering a PvP pug match in your own pug team and finding everyone else but you has just started 60. Tell me that isn't worth it.

It was fun at beginning, fighting bunch of low geared beginners and 1/2 shooting them. But after a while it got boring i sometimes leave matches when they are too easy and try to queue again till i find some real fights.
About the incentive to get better, that can be sorted out with a better rewarding system. For example, the reward in the 10k+ category will be higher than the reward in the 9k + category. So players would have the motive to advance forward.
