And I didnt say the game is folding this instant. It is likely to happen in this highly competitive F2P market sooner than later however if they try to charge 4x+ what other MMOs charge.

And an insane 1616 shard average grind for those who dont pay, per epic toon.

Completely neglecting two facts:

1. There are more ways of getting the top end enchantment than just grinding shards.
2. "Epic toon" is a ridiculous goal anyway. There's nothing in game that requires even one of these enchantments.

WHen I subject the justification of "it can be had free" to reductio ad absurdum analysis, we find that the grind level is completely absurd to merrit that justification.

Your "analysis" neglects, well, every other way that these enchantments could be achieved. Strawman much?

Combine that with the way economics work, it isnt hard to see how this game will be priced out of the market soon after the shiny new game smell wears off.

If you actually understood how economics work, you wouldn't be so quick to draw such absurd conclusions. It's like you've decided that people will abandon cars for bicycles because of how much Ferrari's cost.
