I'm going to be the greatest Guardian Fighter Halfling ever! Because a wee folk tanking a fire giant while the big humans and demonic tieflings standing far away slinging their silly spells show how awesome halflings are.
I will probably play as a half-elf guardian fighter just because i like the feel/look of those shields. And i think that the half-folks are the most intriguing characters to play out of an RP point of view due to the fact that the heritages and the upbringing/look might clash, gives for some interesting moments.

I'll be Resurrecting Bendel, the HAMSTER son of Graz'zt. As such he's a Teifling, and since Warlock will not be out at that point I'll be making him a control wizard, as specced toward Fire as I can make him. I will also have my human rogue, Artagon Ry'Lostrom, master of daggers and deception. I like the idea that humans build the daily powers a little faster than the other races, and human has always been a go-to race for me.

Mad Dwarf with an axe fetish. You can never have too many axes.
Drow and/or Half-Elf depending on what classes are available.

I almost always start with a Dwarf character in these games. Flint Fireforge in the Dragonlance Chronicles was probably my first introduction to the fantasy Dwarf race (yeah I read Dragonlance before LotR) and in every game, book, or movie I compare them to how I perceived Flint.
