Curious of those who roleplay

So, for those who wish to roleplay in this game, has anyone come up with a character(s) or are they waiting until it comes out? (I know, we still have 2 months) I'm just curious on the backstories and such that people might have come up with so far, and if so I'd be happy to friend you that way I have other people I know RP in game. Call it weird or pointless those of you who haven't played D&D, but this is my FAVORITE part of D&D.

That's fine. I'll keep the thread for those who want to talk abut their role-playing OOC.

If the thread doesn't pick up, will simply let it fade. Speaking of fade, think it's time my character's namesake post again on TSST.

I'm planning on doing a considerable amount of it, myself. I have a character I'd like to bring over in spirit from Neverwinter Nights that has copious amounts of backstory developed during the very activity you describe. My only setback might be if I some how can't make a blue-eyed dark elf.

I have planned a role-playing channel for the upcoming NW game client. Hopefully when we get the software it will save and work, but I will have to wait and see like the rest of you.

Star Trek Online and Champions Online have the "STORP" and "CORP" chat channels, respectively. They're out of character channels for people to organize roleplaying events or otherwise goof off when nobody's got something going.

I propose a "NWRP" for this game!

HAHA ! Let make it clear that all roleplaying is ooc and should be restricted to use the rp-ooc chanel only. (Buurp)

Okay, let's look at this description and see what's not right with it:

Role playing is playing a character IN CHARACTER, so we can't "role-play out of character or OOC." If somebody wants to amend something called a role playing discussion OOC channel, maybe I could wrap my head around it. If it's a joke, I might have failed my insight check :D (hey welcome back generic smileys!)

I have a character in mind that I intend to roleplay, two actually depending on my time. I haven't written about them yet simply because I don't want to lose the names I am planning on using. I know that sounds silly but until I can get into the game and get the names I want, I have been reluctant to post about them.

Truth, I would be interested in joining your RP channel when you develop it, keep me in mind.

Thanks,

I will also be interested in uh ... watching your channel, as long as there are no macabre programs of bear disembowelment on it.. :p

Bears, what bears? They all went extinct! Some wonder what happened to the last of them anyway?

Chocolate covered gummy bears anyone?

By the way...I learned polymorph recently, very useful....

I use to be a pretty big into roleplaying back in NWN 1 & 2 days. I was much bigger into NWN 1 as NWN 2 really struggled at its launch with persistent servers due to the complicated Toolset. I was a part of servers: Menzoberranzan, Myth Drannor and Acheron's Spawn. I had about 4 "persistent characters" that I developed throughout my years with NWN (2002-2007).

Characters:
Cyrus - Human Paladin of Torm
Magma - Duergar Fighter/Rogue (Exiled to surface)
Aelthas - Human Cleric of Talos
Rederick -Human Rogue/Shadowdancer of Kossuth

I would definitely be interested in joining a channel for role players. Its something I hoped would migrate its way to this game. The main challenge is just finding RPers and building a community. This is a great way to start that!

Is it time to make a sticky for players to write their character biographies?

I love roleplaying in MMOs but not in the "hard-core" sense that is often found in "designated" or popular areas. When I am playing a character with a written biography, I am always in character in game. That is how I roleplay in MMOs now-a-days.

When play PnP now, that is a different matter. I love to get in character and stay in character and when I DM, I love it even more because I get to play so many different personalities.

On the forums, most of the time here I am half-(beep) always in "character" as Zebular, which can seem kind-of-odd at times to people who may not be familiar with me.

truth, it was not my wish to counteract you in any way. i support any effort to promote rp because i love roleplaying.
my slightly humorous blurt seemed to emphasize my previous encounters with rp on other games:
1. rp needs to be protected from other (normal) chat because it is fragile.
2. rp tends to have too many rules.
any rp was made all but impossible by this in the past or it was restricted to guilds or other private spaces, but i am confident that we will see an atmosphere of convivial understanding and deep lore in nwo because it will be diff-er-ennt.
:) hi (:

It was humorous after all. I was unfortunately wrong then. My fault. You're fine.

RP is a delicate creature on most MMO's and should be protected as long as it doesn't interfere with other people's gaming. As long as everybody does stuff consensually I support it wherever. Just not mandated if need be.

Again, I slice my palm with the dagger my father gave to me. As the drops of blood swell into the ink blotter, I reach for my worn feather stylus to relate my story. I am young but very, very old. As a lad, I watched the raiders sweep into our fair countryside. Pillaging, HAMSTER, destroying everything that was my world. My dearest father and my beautiful mother were lost. I hid, desperately, shamefully.....I would not, could not help them. I called myself coward, unworthy of the love that I had always known. After the onslaught, I crept from my hiding place. My parents gone, perhaps they survived? My thought was that perishing might be better than stumbling down the long, hard road of slavery. On that day I took an oath. I swore upon the ground that gave life and the heavens that took it....I would NEVER speak until I learned my parents fate..... (As I take another bit of blood, life from the other palm) I write these words to all the gods and pretenders, all who walk the face of this dark and fallow land....I shall have justice....I shall have revenge....I shall look into the enemies eyes as I plunge this same dagger into their hearts. BEHOLD, I am my father's son, my mother's joy, and whomever Lord's upon the gates of hell, may they NOT have mercy on your soul.
