My favorite companions were the Familiars for my wizard in NWN1/2, especially with HotU expansion. I hope Familiars are a part of NWO.

That would be simply amazing HOTU was such a underrated expansion.

I remember when you could get a fey dragon as a familiar it had butterfly wings :)

Early on, the one character that eventually became a demigoddess rescued a Faerie Dragon who was also accompanied by a Faerie. His character befriended them and then one time, a wild-surge happened and the result was his character's new companion, Loreaganoe:

Cannot tell from my drawing, but she had very tiny scales for skin and a little dragon tail too, as well as a tad over-bite. IIRC that was an adaptation of an existing D&D image somewhere, redrawn to fit the campaign.

So I feel like when some people are talking about companions they are talking about familiars or pet like companions while I think others are talking about Bridge Office style companions or SWTOR type companions.

For myself, I want to see both, but I want them to have different functions.

Both of them are in game. The companions may even include "famous npcs" who accompany you in quest as one of the dev put it in previous interview.

So both pets and mercenary hireling companions should be available.

EDIT: but yeah lot has changed since that interview and not much new information is available on them.

    Not going to happen folks.

Anyone knows any plans for something similar to the duty officers in STO ? Like for example you could own an adventuring company and hire these adventurers and send them off on quests and they bring back spoils if they succeed or die if they fail.

I am hoping companions and soloing will be possible.... as it was the only concept that initially drew me to this game back before cryptic joined perfect world. I was fearful that feature would be removed.
