Greetings Adventurers!
We want to know your thoughts on the
updated version of Day of the Dungeon Master! This can include the conversion to an Appointment Event, the rewards, the mechanics, etc. Please use this thread only for constructive and topical feedback - unrelated comments will be removed - and remember to remain civil.
Examples of feedback include incentives to run the content and frequency, the use of scrying stones to view outside the board, reward drops vs. store rewards, etc.

but the second thing i noticed was that their rewards were (understandibly) removed.
that day i got multiple remarks from guild mates and friends that the event was bugged for them (cause they did not see any rewards in the lil quest menus) and i had to explain to them that those were just for vanity now.
It would be nice for there to get at least a few silver as rewards for it, so it doesn't confuse peeps too much when they see an empty space where the rewards should be.
(and seeing those quests i used to run be reduced to decoration hurt a bit as well )
Simaler to how the master of coin gives tasks in certain areas, you could have flabergast give a daily task in an area like complete 3 heroic encounters in avernus or complete one big encounter in icewind dale. then give currency as a reward for doing the tasks. A vendor would then distribute the items. The currency could also be obtained by reaching a chest at the end of the event dungeons.
This event has become very bland and there is little motivation for people to even participate.

Right now I just do the quests with the toon doing that coin thing and that is it.
Although, I probably would have put my bard toon through it at least once but as she cannot even enter the event area that will never happen.
1) there is no incentive to run this, if you do not care about collecting tokens. Unlike other events of this kind, this reform is not alt-friendly. There is no reason to run this on another character. At least with nightmare or seige etc theres an rng chance to collect an extra token.
2) changing water on the fly was uncalled for. And while you are "quickly" turning it around after the shadow-nerf was called out. It doesn't leave a good taste in the players mouths.
3) throwing rewards into the wondrous bizarre is an iffy situation. I don't know if that sets a good or bad precedence.
4) having the dailies within the burrow inn, have no value, undermines all of the work previous developers did, and takes a lot of fun out of the event, especially with it having been absent for so long.
5) I get the whole press for time, let's condense everything into 2.5-3 weeks concept but in so doing and making there just be a random option to queue for the token feels disorganized.
You seem to think farming tokens to progress a toon to be able to run 1 single piece of content (at each release once a year or so) ad nauseam is some sort of reward system that is motivating but really it is not. Why is your CONTENT not feeling rewarding? If you put the same boring idea of a reward system on the same events every year fine, but why take what used to be great fun and push this idea on it? You forgot what it feels like to grind for the sake of grinding... I said it before I will say it 100x it's boring
Putting items on the WB is the same as putting recipes for MW (you previously got already) up for a hefty price of AD - a sad idea to strip "wealthy" players of their AD. You are not reaching those people that farmed hundreds of millions in M14-M17 cause they mostly not playing anymore anyway... and/or are making more waiting on zax listings on several accounts.
I don't think they will make Jubilee worthwhile again because it was way too easy to make big AD for players - which was the FUN part, because it actually got people to participate, right. They seem to think its more important to fix the economy by letting players pay for content in a store that they should get for free for having fun with content that they forgot people will stop playing if they don't have fun ultimately. Some may take long to stop, but - a WILD idea - you can actually have active players if they enjoy running and rerunning content ??? Because its fun, entertaining, encouraging?
However, there is little reason to do anything else that running just the one dungeon you need each day, which takes 10 minutes.
So in its current form it lacks any good reason to keep playing and repeat.
I was also expecting a chest with some small rewards at the end of each dungeon. My personal wish would be insignia points in some form. Insignia points is the hardest commodity to get in the game at the moment, with 1 insignia point = 1k AD.
All over I think the Appointment rewards are OK.
This event is missing some repeatability though. So much nice content and no reason to play it.
1. The event itself, the area it takes place in and all the mini-challanges it has... all of those seems a bit lacking. Not sure what's missing really, maybe some small rewards for doing the challanges, maybe the food that the event was known for, maybe something else. It just feels... empty.
2. The rewards from the appointment store. Adding the Beholder Tank and Staldorf there is nice, but have you thought about making all of the stuff there mythic? I mean, Golden Warhorse was the first long-term reward for collecting tokens from Hell Pit/Harvester and at the time it was legendary quality (which was still good). There is no reason not to upgrade them now, right?
If making them all mythic is not possible, someone in other thread pointed out the prices should be adjusted. Currently it's 5 tokens for legendary mount and 5 tokens for mythic companion. They do not have the same value for us, players. Mythic is just better, adds more bolster, does not need to be upgraded etc. Lower the cost of the legendary stuff there to 3 tokens instead of 5. It's more accessible this way and I think it would make them more desireable if they were cheaper.
While at the topic, can you please explain one thing that's been bothering me for quite some time? What is the point of adding Enchanting stone, rank 6 (not the rank 5) to the store? It was added when this type of appointment event started with Hell Pit if I remember right, but since Enchantment rework, those stones serve NO PURPOSE. Why are they still there? For RP we already have blood rubies.
3. Wonderous Bazaar items. I get why you decided to put old items from the event to the store, but don't you think the prices you put there are a bit... well, too high? I mean, 100k AD for a vanity pet? If it would be 10k then some people might consider getting this, but the current prices are just too high. Same goes for Walter. 750k AD for blue, non-account-wide unlock. I don't see many tanks utilizing the deflect that much (might be wrong here), and the price just add more reason not to get this companion from the store.
4. Queues and empty chests at the end of them. I get it, you decided to remove the rewards from the end since the campaigns were vaulted. It was not that much to get there anyway, but honestly, I'm sure something could be put there in it's place. Maybe a little gold, some rp, anything? It is not motivating to run skirmish just to get nothing in return for compliting the content.
Other than that, I like the idea of the appointment events themselves. Just wish there was more to do with them then just 1 skirmish per day.
Why was Day of the Dungeon Master created in the first place. You created a unique event, offering unique rewards. Why? To excite players! To encourage them to explore, to reward them for playing and hope they liked it enough to support it financially!
The unique areas of play still exist. It's fun to play through those. But everything else is gone. I was struck by all the empty completion screens. Finish an event, screen comes up--nothing. Do another--nothing. Run Respens--no boss drops. Chest at the end, yay!--can't open it--nothing. Run other event queues--no chest at all--nothing. The rewards we do get...same as all the other events now. Boring. One area of possible improvement is to have a screen showing what rewards you receive upon quest turn-in. I missed things going into my inventory and didn't know we got AD until I saw a video on it.
I understand you all are doing your jobs, and the event works--press lever, receive pellet. But whomever on high is making the decision to revamp the game in this way seems a tad out of touch. It doesn't seem like they play games, or know what makes games fun. Until that changes, it's unlikely any of these revamps will be satisfying for players.
I am hoping that they possibly left the beholder tank though as a rare drop in the artificer workshop.
other than that, I sort of agree with others the conversion into an appointment event seems to have relegated the other challenges (aside from the daily dungeon) to not worthwhile to run.
I've been playing for about 17 months now, so I missed the original Day of the Dungeon Master. I did, however, look back at the old campaign pages often and think, "Man, I hope that comes back."
And now that it's here, it feels...gutted.
I love that you didn't just excise all the old games, the way you did Charthraxis, and Vartilingorix, and...Helms Hold and Skyhold...but it's really disappointing to see that the old content was kept without even an attempt at a reward. I mean, not even silver pieces. There has to have been something that could be provided as an incentive. Even gemstones that some people would complain about would be better than absolutely nothing that everybody will complain about...
When I got to Burrow Dawn, I honestly feel like I'm going to a place that was built by a large team of highly motivated people who were working with a considerable budget, and now it's been renovated by a much smaller team of disillusioned people whose budget is basically "what's left over from last year."
I won't say that I would have rather kept the dream of what others got to play, but I have to admit that I wonder if that's the case each night when I log in for my fifteen minutes of almost-rewarding games in what looks like so much more.
I think this year's Day of the Dungeon Master is actually just a grand illusion put on by Lukan. Maybe the real one will come back some day, to set that illusionist straight.
What I'd like to see:
- Something, anything to reward us for playing the multiple little games.
- A chance to earn some of the things that we just tossed onto the Wondrous Bazaar for sale.
What I do like to see:Oh. No food or drinks either
-Like many I awaited the return of the event with anticipation.
-The event itself is great, however element in the event lead to disappointment. When you get to the end of a dungeon and find nothing once the boss is defeated, players are confused, frustrated, and disheartened. "Where is the chest", "Why wont the chest open", "Why did we do this", were some of the chat questions at the end of Respen's game.
-"The goal of appointment events isn't meant to farm drops it is to run the daily and be rewarded for it." What is the day of the dungeon master? It is a event with weird and wondrous items that are whimsical and dangerous. Apocalypse dagger, "Damage value not guaranteed--no refund" The great descriptions of the various dews ingredients. The event is useless items dropping but that is ok because they make you smile even if they are not really that practical. The day of the dungeon master is a fun event and by making it 10-15 minutes of do the task and get the reward it is more chore-like than it is an trip into a board game.
-The removal of the Adventuring Accreditation was understandable as the progression was removed as an event task. However, Adventuring Accreditation was worth silver so it was nice when it did drop. It would of made an excellent currency for a mini event store.
-The absent of item dropping after mob kills was very noticeable. You kill enemies and you get copper, refinement points items, or gear but in the day of the dungeon ques you now get nothing. You run the dungeons kill the mini boss and the boss and you exit with nothing. Yes you can then turn in your quest for maybe some AD and refinement stone but that is the end reward. The mob drops gear wasn't a reward it was a treat. Players like treats along the path.
-After watching the Driftwood Tavern day of the dungeon master some of the changes to the event was put into a new light. Why was lathander dew removed? To review it buff. Will the beholder tank drop? No, its didn't fit in the part of the game so it was place in the store. Is the green slime still available? Yes, it will not drop in the event but will still be available elsewhere. What is an appointment event? A schedule event. Where are the heckler boxes? The boxes do not include one for bard and the classes are referred by their old names so they were removed.
Questions...
"How does one collect the Portobello fashion set currently?" "Wondrous Bazaar, if you look through the tabs in the shop, the fashion set is there for AD!" The wonder bazaar has Intern tunic and Intern slacks. However it does not have the Portobello kilt or the Portobella hat? Why is the price of the bazaar novelty items so expensive if the daily quests only provided a few thousand raw AD. If a player had muti characters, they could grind and collect the items for multi toons. With the items moved to the bazaar and the cap on AD players with mutiple character cannot get the items. I have 5 toons new to the event and at 1 million AD for the wand of sight I doubt I will be able to farm it through the event
-How does one earn the achievement for collecting 250 crystal dice?
-Why are some toons unable to enter the event. My returning toons can enter the map. but my newer toons appear to be locked out. Portobellos gives his quest once and that allows the character to enter the map once the quest is given alternate characters cannot enter the map.
-Issues
-The door in dungeon get locked shut if two players go to open. open/shut locked.
-The footrace can get started but the 5-10-15 minutes pass and you are not in it. just sitting on bleachers waiting with others who have all waved there hand to signal a race to start
Conclusion.
Yes, I would like some form of drop returned to the event.
You accidentally removed the funniest part in the game by removing the princess and her treasure chest.
(Won’t spoil it in case it’s ever returned. Please save the audio files)
If you want to fix this, then bring back the food buff items - especially the dew drink, as the extra ap buff is a big help to players. Bring back the prizes for the side-events and queues - give us a reason to play more then just 'one chara, once a day' stuff.
Edit - oh, and fix the race too - I waited half an hour to take part in it and... Nothing.
I've played Neverwinter for YEARS now, even when friends were leaving because of changes killing their builds my Dark-Elf Rogue stood strong and faced each challenge - but this feels like expecting gold and getting Lead, this time tbh.
My opinion is that the game should rethink the general purpose of events. They've become fairly meaningless because they offer boring grind for outdated rewards. Ideally events should only appear every six months or so in the calendar (which means you'll need a ton to cycle through) and offer specific unique rewards you can grind for. The most obvious example is event food, but there could be others (back in the day certain enchantment types only dropped from certain events etc.). Then there should be a seasonal reward that is only active for one year and is then replaced with something else. Could be a Transmute, Fashion, Dyes, or a Mount skin. Last but not least, let's do a bit more variety than just "kill monsters / do basic instance for loot crate or daily progress tokens".
This would add more significance to events and if you miss out, you might have to wait a couple months or a full year to get specific items. Or even buy them on the Auction House should they already have been replaced. I know this works because this is why the first installments of most events have been a blast. First Summer Festival, Winter Festival etc. Great rewards, always a nice change of scenery, and had stuff you could farm for (food, items to resell).
After 20 minutes I abandoned all the quests for it, accepted the quest again, went back in, same thing. Race never started.
Today it did the same thing. After waiting 10 full minutes for a race to start I abandoned, accepted the quest again, went back in, did an event dungeon que, went over to the bleachers and it said "event started" but it didn't spawn me to anywhere. So I abanonded again and restarted it all leaving and going back in.
This time a race finally started but I had zero idea where the heck I was supposed to go or what I was supposed to do. I floated around where it allowed me too until I figured out we're supposed to shoot the dummy targets to open the gates.
For events like this, and a lot of adventures and "mechanics" for a lot of this game, there really needs to be something that tells new players what the hell they're supposed to do. The quests are comparable to asking someone to harvest one strain of grass for you in a field of grass, when you want a specific one but you don't tell them what the one you want looks like or how to get it.
New players to the game have no idea what to do unless other players that somehow know what to do fill them in. Several people I've suggested this game to got way too frustrated over the lack of instruction for everything and uninstalled. I'm getting frustrated enough that I might do that too.
It's not any fun at all being frustrated not knowing what we're supposed to do to complete the tasks we're given.
Sure if you need AD or refinement points you can do the other parts of the event but the lack of unique rewards is really disappointing.
I think it's fine that old rewards are available for AD but the prices are pretty expensive for vanity stuff that you could previously farm for free.
With no rewards, other than the disappointment event progress ones, there's nothing there that makes it fun to play any more. Not even once a day. So congratulations, you managed to yet again remove fun from the game.

That said, I do not understand why other aspects of this event needed to be removed. I see no reason whatsoever to participate beyond running the daily 14 times to earn a "free" coal mote once I get that one token.
A couple of thoughts on rewards:
- Perhaps the "carnival games" could reward some other currency which could be traded for consumables or fashion items.
- Perhaps the queues could each have, at least, a "Skirmish" quality end chest to help incentivize replayability.
I thought making the instances more like skirmishes in not needing the T-H-Dpsx3 composition was a good idea. Even though they are short not having any chest at all does make them feel like a chore. A rare insignia and perhaps some event food would have ticked a lot boxes for players here.
The mini games are still fun but as others have said, beyond once per day to get the kobold caches there is nothing to motivate repeat participation. As these are slanted to be role specific these could have been a wonderful way to earn role specific buff foods, which would have the added benefit of offering an activity that helps players new to their role their practice vital skills in a fun way.
No need to repeat anything here about the Watler changes except I think it's fantastic that the dismay of the players was heard and responded to so quickly.
The entry by alts bug is disappointing as it seems very similar to something that happened at the last summer festival but I am also glad that is getting fixed. I hope that merits a hot fix rather than having to wait until the next maintenance.
