Im crashing all the time like the others. I don't know much about computers, so I wanna ask a couple questions.
How do I get on the Preview Shard?
How can I check what DirectX version I am running and then, How do I update/upgrade it if it's not above 9?
Is there anything else I can do to make the game playable like it was before the Shroud update?
Thank you in advance.
In your launcher once you log in you'll see 3 different servers. Neverwinter Preview is the one you want to download if you haven't. That way we can test anything that they try to fix before they push it to live.
You want to run a program on your computer called 'Dxdiag'. It's a DirectX diagnostic tool. It will give information about your Video card and it's drivers. It might help the devs figure out the problem.
As for your 3rd question I don't think that's up to us.

Thank you for your response. Your DirectX info was very helpful. I believe i am using DirectX 11. Very Helpful.
The picture you show on the Launcher isn't the same as mine. I have the Patching bar but no Shard options above it. There is nothing there to click.
Your diagnostic tool gave me some system info I want to share. Since I'm very naive on these matters, can you look and see if my system has what it needs to play well please? Thanks again in advance.

I could of easily missed it but I haven't seen mentioned: the
[ERROR] You do not meet the requirements for this item
message you seem to get when opening the rewards for either resistance or security tasks
I have 3 now completed shroud of souls and they all still get that message from those rewards, unless its for something you get after you have got the campaign to 100% (which I haven't done yet) I can't imagine what that requirement is as most of the requirements in this quest line have been done.
This happens if you have an active stone for each wizard, because the box contains no valid drops until you clear at least one portal stone out of your inventory. It's only a display error. You still get your box.
To enable NeverwinterPreview access, I'd recommend following the guide @zebular posted here!
And yeah @faredawg1 , a GTX460 with up-to-date drivers, 6 GB RAM, and a 2.8 GHz processor should be working fine, so if you're running into issues that's a surprise to me. (EDIT: There's always a chance I'm wrong, but I believe that setup exceeds our minimum requirements. There are other factors that may cause issues with the game, like how many other programs are running, how much memory they take up, etc.)
@beckylunatic - Thanks for the clarification on that one!
EDIT: Regarding the Device Removed crashes: We're still looking, and unfortunately don't have an update yet. There are some less prevalent crash fixes in testing, and we have people working hard on finding a solution.

I really want to play the game again but.. I also really don't want to spend money on another computer that may or may not actually even play the game. Have you been able to narrow down which systems are affected at all?

@terramak first, you is so amazing interact with ppl, WE LOVE your feedback.
Second: My PC is I3, 4gb ram, windows 7 64, AMD Radeon R7 260X. i Run the game in full graphics, BUT, if i enable Shadows, the game crash. I run any content without shadows enable and theres no problem, but if i enable shadows, my game crash.
A friend my have a notebook, WITHOUT VGA, and after mod 11.B, she's cant play, she log, catch the VIP keys and the game crash "device removed". Theres some ETA for fix this ? maybe this thursday ? Again, thanks for the interaction with us, poor mortals, you is amazing. (Sorry my bad english, i'm Brazilian).
Any intention to tinker a bit with Arcane Magical Writings droprate? 7-8000 AD for one at AH, shows is the new bottleneck. Maybe add 10 or so to the weekly and a couple to the daily?
You can farm them using the campaign's Security task (1 Writing/100 Security), so I really don't think they're likely to view the drop rate as problematic. You need a LOT of Reclaimed Weapons, which you can buy from the Travelling Merchant if you haven't looted enough. You need the other items too, but mostly Weapons. Then upgrade guardposts. Boring, but effective.
Tip: Don't kill hostiles at the guard posts unless you have to in order to drop aggro. Mercilessly allow them to murder the guards, over and over again.
