Respen's Event - Beholder Tank becomes non-Interactable

If you can't interact with the beholder tank then you can't get a drop. I don't know if this is a bug or just bad programming, but I can't interact with the beholder tank in about 1 in 5 runs,

Working as intended, just like last year. No doubt.
    Definitely not an Arc User.

Still 4 out of 5 where you can interact and get a tank. Others have got one. So the chance is higher than 0%.

I understand frustration, but exaggerated posts won't do anything for you, except other people not taking you serious, even when there is a justified complaint.

Send a ticket. Give detailed information (screenshots usually helps the support to understand the problem and see, that it is not just exaggeration. Try to find a solution (just complaining is not trying).

I had success with this strategy so far. Most tickets did not take more than a day and it produces more often helpful feedback from Devs, Community Managers, and Admins, than your approach.

i gave up, did 20 times last year, and 6 times this year, i doubt i get that tank mound, let stick with pitchfork and torches, it better that way.
i even look around on whole floor to see if something i can click on in every corners, thinking it might decayed faster before getting there, so i just went to chest to claim and leave, devs get an angry fat bird's droppings on thier cars.

i keep getting miters, not one kilt yet, got 2 robes, decided to throw 1 robe away since i dont have much bag inventory slots. AH are full of 1 gold value Miters. lol.

exactly, low drop rates kill the fun, and it is limited time.

Why does the Beholder Tank become unsearchable at the end of the Artificer event at random? It happens 3 out 5 times that I've run the event. It is bad enough that I don't want to participate in the event anymore

Just don't move to the beholder before the cut screen to it starts. If you run to the beholder instead of staying near the mindflayers dead body, your greed becomes your downfall.

LOL. There is no exaggeration. If you cannot interact with the beholder tank then you have 0% chance of a drop from that tank.

This happens to many people. They complain in chat, and you can see them move away from the tank and back again trying to get an interaction.

I am not sure what a screen should would show since there is nothing to see when you get no interaction.

A person in my party just complained that it has happened 3 times in a row, so I guess I am lucky it does not happen more often.

Incorrect statement. The problem being referred to is that when you walk up to the Beholder Tank you should get an on-screen message inviting you to press 'F' to intereact with the tank. When you get this message, after pressing 'F' you normally get some campaign junk and once in a Blue Moon you get a Beholder Mount. However, some people are simply not getting that initial message when they approach the Beholder, so they have zero chance of getting any kind of drop. This is a bug and really needed to be addressed by now. But it is probably too late for any kind of fix to be implemented now. For the record, I have had this happen several times myself. So I know it is a genuine problem and it is very frustrating.

Oops - in that case then, I'll simply say that we had the same issue last year, nothing was apparently fixed, so in essence - it's still WAI. If they had wanted it fixed, it would have been fixed.

I heard rumors that if someone interacts with the beholder tank before the final cut scene, the "no interaction' bug will occur. Well there must be some other reason because I just had a case where no one touched the tank before the cut scene and I still got the bug.
  • silverkeltsilverkelt Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 4,235 Arc User
I no longer care.. you could run it once and get it.. or you could run it 1000 times and not get it.

RNG of that nature is exclusive to no fun zone to me... so I simply wont bother.

The entire game seems to be turning into this.

devs owe us apologies for not ever fixing that bug, same issue last year, do i look forward next year Port's party, i am afraid not as long they ever dont fix, and then no one want to run it.
i guess that i wait beside that gift vendor,

Ran it 41 times today. My sanity is in tatters. Out of 41 runs, I was able to interact with Beholder only 23 times. 7 times in a row I couldn't interact with it at all, after that I just quit. Chance of drop is like 0,000001%, on top of that about 50% of runs go dry (in my experience). Getting Beholder would be very nice for me, but I'm not sure it even drops. During 40 runs not a single person from 5 man party ever mentioned getting Beholder. I dread to think what the chances really are...
  • spainchaud#6210 spainchaud Member Posts: 55 Arc User
The devs could have fixed this by removing the tank interaction and assign the drop chance to opening the chest. This would make for a much simpler UI.
  • beckylunaticbeckylunatic Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 14,231 Arc User
They could have also put it as a possible chest drop in ANY of the 4 Portobello skirmishes so that the event didn't degenerate into nothing but players farming the %$^&^* Workshop.

I hate the Workshop. Liked every other skirmish better. Or I assume I'd have liked the 4th one better but never was able to get the queue for it to pop before I got bored and left the event location, since you're not allowed to be in queue for it from anywhere else.

I really like the spirit of this event but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired, and I feel like none of the feedback from last year was acted on, nor were the reported bugs fixed (some of them are worse).

This morning I did 6 workshops so I could get the dice I need for today. I could only interact with the beholder tank 3 times.

Our QA team has attempted to replicate the beholder issue many times since it was originally reported but have not been successful. I'll continue to flag it but if we can't get the error to pop up on our end, we can't figure out how to resolve it :(

There is always an honest attempt at ensuring seasonal/rotating event issues are resolved before the next time they are due to start but it often gets de-prioritized when larger live issues come up. We've been working on addressing issues as quickly as possible during the event, but we know it's far from ideal :-/
  • wylonuswylonus Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 2,376 Arc User
Noto, thanks for reponding, as long that bug still there, most of us feel burnout and may not want to do next year event(s) again, not looking forward if still buggy next year.

i may offer idea to either move Beholder or place in new dungeon floor, i would like to see hexagon/octagon floor plan if the bugs effecting that existing floor, keep that floor plan for something else for newer quest lines, like shutting down corrupted portal gates.

    see if that would work?

I wonder if it's a race condition. On live, players tend to race to the beholder before the cutscene. I have no idea why; perhaps it's some sort of need to compete to be the first one there. Could that be having an effect?

Another thing I noticed -- maybe it's related, maybe it isn't: sometimes, when you go up to the beholder at the end, there is a poison DoT still on you. If you interact when it is still active, no items pop up when it gives you the text that you found some random items lying around. When the DoT is on you, this is always the case.

I'm pretty sure that this bug never occurred on the first instance run after logging in. My educated guess would be a "sometimes not properly reset" type of bug that starts to occur only after multiple runs. (Had a similar issue with River District lair grinding for both Nostura and Gryphon, where eventually lair gets stuck in "completed" state.)

So, even though I'm sure that they don't want to, have your QA play the game the way the rest of us are expected to - grind the instance a dozen times back to back. I'm confident that they'll have some useful info for devs after that.

I have friends that are paid testers...
They have a guy standing behind them with a yard stick, and if they stop playing for a second he wacks them on the shoulder. Trust me they play the same map over aND over and over....

The cynic in me says this is working as intended(coded) - a way to lower even further the remote chance of gaining the Beholder.
    Definitely not an Arc User.
