What's the point? It takes a weekend of serious play to get to 60, and another few days of serious play to get to 70. Even a few hours a day can get you to 70 in a couple weeks, especially if you are in a guild thanks to the various SH add-ons you can take.
If not a hoax - this is an unfortunate money grab. The big question is, does this mean they'll open the zone skirmishes up to all levels? If not, not players that bought a lvl 70 toon will b pissed when they find out that by doing so, they cannot ever play those skirms on their toons. Blacklake and Defend the Village have no CTAs for example....

It was bound to happen, every other mmo I know has something similar (if not a immediate end game level, a super fast way to get there, like one game I knew 4.99 got you a leveling package that basically made exp modified like 4 x itself, so every quest turn in and every kill was like doing 4. It took all of 5-6 hours to get to end game at that game and it was cheap. But like many have said here, heck you couldve done it in 12 hours there, here its like a solid 12 hours or so, especially if you know what you are doing and where to go. So your saving yourself like 12-14 hours of gameplay. Frankly I dont know how much new players learn anyways.. I mean seriously go pug randoms for awhile, you cant believe what you see, powers used and ect.
The only real downside is a new player wont know what to do with this fresh lvl 70.
The real surprise is they didnt do this back when they played around with experience originally.. Its far easier to level a 60-70 then it was back when they first played around with it.

I don't see what the issue is, I can easily farm a toon from 1-70 in under 1 day.
I don't see what the issue is, I can easily farm a toon from 1-70 in under 1 day.
The issue is knowledge. or rather, the severe lack of it. Both on the game as the character you wish to play. I don't see anything good coming from this for the PuG community. Not to mention we'll be teaching new lvl70s entering our guilds how to play their classes. You could argue that since I don't PuG it's none of my business or something to be concerned about. It's merely another money grab for Cryptic I'll never ever use, right? Yet.. for some reason I worry.
The thing is, levelling from 1-70 doesn't really teach you most of the games mechanics anyhow, which is why people end up queuing into a dungeon at 70 and then getting roflstomped. There isn't much along the way that teaches new players anything, so yeah, they can buy their way to 70 and be clueless if they like, or alternatively, they can grind to 70 and be clueless. In NWO, learning to play is about going to the effort to learn stuff that the game doesn't explain to you.

I agree leveling seems to be more story driven and does nothing to encourage group play. A new 70 will be just that, regardless of how they got it. They need to respec and relearn everything to play endgame dungeons. And since gear is now lottery drops and participation rewards what differance does it make anyway lol

It's fine. I never wanted to level that DC up for his sigil anyway....
I'll reiterate what I posted in the preview thread: I don't see any practical use for this beyond the preview server. It's hilariously easy to level as it is with azure enchants, guild/mount insignia EXP bonuses, and bonus EXP for invocation. Most likely it'll be in the preview ZEN store for a zero cost, so that players may test changes for classes that they may not have the patience to level to 70 and then copy to the preview server.

Seems more likely this will be a feature added to the game and not just preview. Most will have a 70 to test and move it over rather than buy a preview 70 char with no class gear; and doubt you're going to grind the gear on live just to copy it over unless you have that class. Level 70 with no gear is kinda useless to test anything.
oh great. eLoL will be overrun with 1600 iLvl toons. And CN with 2Ks. With the ITF nerf, seems I won't be running eLoL or CN on a regular basis much longer.
actually a good idea be 70 instant, it could bring some new players to NW or older players.
But it would definitely need a "New Advanced tutorial for 70 Players!,
after purchasing it, a player will automatically teleported to a new Tutorial Area, to learn Advance things like campaigns, 4th rank on skills, Mount / Pets and all that etc. basically an advanced crash course.

The leveling experience never was the problem. It's the post lvl 70 gameplay that has trouble keeping the players here. All the game seems to do are short-term solutions. They never tackle any problems completely.
Yes, let's program something minorly useful in to the preview server.....meanwhile, the VIP program I assume is still disabled (enabling this for all would be immensely more useful). Makes sense.
If you don't have a 70 to copy to preview, I don't think you should even be ON preview in the first place. What are you testing if you don't even know how the game works yet?
Auto-70 on preview for new classes it useful. It was a huge pain for both HR and SW when they were new on preview because they first had to be leveled to 60 to test them in end-game content. Transferring all those tomes of XP is a real pain...
I suppose in this context, it would be nice. I don't know - I'm curious about how they handle achievements and lvl specific content, but otherwise this is a meh addition to me. If it brings in money so they can have some space to do good QoL stuff that actually improves the game, then great.
I don't care either way many have said cant test new mods in preview so a level 70 is good there, and I personally would like to have a tr or gf to test out but forget the grind it will be bad enough to grind boons and gear this will just save so grinding for those who have played the story line already
also thinking about doing a HR and TR on ps4 will be level pvp field for a while and would be fun
If they implemented this in prod it wouldn't be too bad as long as you had a level 70 already. Make it so the feature only opens once you get the level 70 achievement.

I don't mind Cryptic earns money from this. A new player would not just come in and buy a level 70 without at least trying to figure out if he/she like the game or not. Even if they do, so be it. How many of us have already done similar thing by leveling a toon to level 70 through leadership without playing much? I know I do.
If they are not going to nerf invoke AD, this would be an immediate invoking AD army generator. Since they are going to do so, I guess, it is not bad.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***
I think this would only be possible if the financial guys at Cryptic signed off on it - meaning someone ran stats that showed the most real world money is spent after a player reaches level 70.
Then the probable thought process would be - why create barriers, and drive off potential whales, by making the grind from 1 - 70 too difficult/time consuming. Give them a short cut to get to the sweet spot where the biggest temptation to spend more $$$ is.
And I'll be honest - I've built all the toons to 70 I care to. If a new race/class comes out, I would be very, very, very tempted to leap frog out of grinder hell and jump straight to level 70. Please God, no more EE quests - ever. As it is - even jumping to 70 I'm going to have to do oodles of grinds in Sharandar, IWD and WoD anyway.

But you're the same guy that keeps harping that the only "new content" you care about is a new race or class, and the only "content" that is specifically tied to race or class is the special quests they (might) get while levelling.

This is more likely who it's aimed at. If they start releasing more new classes, there's probably a lot of existing players or former players who would rather pay to skip leveling to 70 (especially if you've done it a few times) to jump right into the end game.
If they released a druid or bard class, depending on the cost for a level 70 boost, I'd definitely consider buying level 70 and then starting from there.
For people totally new to Neverwinter? I can't imagine many people's first purchase would be a level 70 character, or at least not enough to make the game feel any different...I mean, heck, most of PUG-life is filled with people who already play like it's their first time with a character, I don't see how this would change that.

Leveling is so not the problem. During x2 XP it takes a few hours to get to 60 with some 12s and weapons transferred. The problem is all the boons you have to farm all over again. Like it was fun the first time around to repeat quests every single day for months.

Knowing the equipment packages that will come with these pregens, I have to say that myself and a lot of other 3+ year veterans are going to mock these toons mercilessly whenever we notice them...
As things are now, leveling a new character to 70 is actually the most fun to me so I would never buy an insta 70 token. However if someone wants to do it I dont see a problem - let them.
