Dear lord, I just looked at the current asking prices for Dread and Vorpal enchants and I had to laugh. This game has become way too expensive (whether you grind or pay.. it is way too much).
I am struggling to stay interested in this game.. With a boring 4K TR, a boring 4K GWf and a few 3k toons I find that what seems to be the last part of enjoyment for me is leveling a new character. I have a DPS cleric that I have become fond of but unless I start salvaging some of the items off of one of my other toons, this guy is going to stay low IL. Used to be throwing $20 or $30 in the game you could do some nice damage on a build, but now it wont get you low level weapon enchant.
^ it's a steep hike for new players. Started in March.
- too long of que times between certain Lvl ranges - low cost / reward for playing the same dungeons on repeat - pvp is not viable as an ad source. It's impossible to compete without the right setup. You will literally be 1shot by twinks, lvl10-19. Won't see another que until Lvl 50. Repeat getting stomped. Not fun, low reward. - invoking. No.
I'm now comfortably just below 3k, I believe like 2.98k ( waiting for double refine ). I did not get there through any daily rewards, the sources they provide for AD would be an insanely small percent of my revenue.
Only viable AD is knowing the market. Once I figured that out, it became. Lot less frustrating but much more boring
Well I have been wanting to build me an airplane and I guess my money will go to that project now. Sorry pretty cool DPS cleric of mine, looks like you will be using a Bronzewood for quite some time.
Only viable AD is knowing the market. Once I figured that out, it became. Lot less frustrating but much more boring
How true this statement is! I've even given up on that stream of AD in sheer boredom.
Here's a fun fact, I decided to save ALL salvage I've picked up in the month of July. I have 8 toons that can run dungeons, 4 that run them on a regular basis. Since July 1st I've just finally broke 200k AD in salvagable gear. This is running 2-8 dungeons a day averaging 2.4 drops per DAY including the chests! I'm also averaging my math on 4k per salvage (3k-6k each). I use 4k as my average because everyone knows that the most common drop is +1 & +2 rings.

send the family on vacation . . . .
and then use that time to grind up enough AD to buy yourself a dread enchant
Problem solved

lol.. nah.. couldn't have them go and enjoy Universal Studios Orlando without me. I will probably just go ahead and buy me a dread or maybe try and trade/sell my Trans. Fey for one.
Thanks for all the posts.. I know we all get tired of people complaining about the game, but every now and then I feel the urge to vent a little.
The dread lost 2m ADs in price and went down from 8 to 6m ADs. That's half the price of what it was when it first came out. I do not understand this whole philosophy of people playing casually expecting to get the same gear, enchants, or whatsoever than people playing this game since beta? Its a grind. Its a marathon, not a race. People that joined 3 months ago expect to be par with players grinding since years? I guess its the wrong game you are playing.
Just post your Fey and run without an enchant until it sells, then buy a Dread. Worked for me, and quite honestly, did not have much trouble while running this insanely easy content without it. I did warn others that my DPS was going to be lacking, but surprisingly, it was not that bad.

Dread is not all that

I hate paying taxes! Why must I pay thousands of dollars in taxes when everything I buy is taxed anyways!

It's very good for classes that get most of their mileage from encounters. (Still, with the OP being a DC, you need to be aware that it won't work with Divine Glow.)
The high prices for everything is due to VIP removing posting fees.
It is not because of the missing fee. If they had a fee it would be higher to partly counter the fee for their own profit. It is normal that the prices rise.
Platypus wielding a giant hammer, your argument is invalild!

Well I must be doing it wrong, because I can run a throne(2 drops - 15 mins), prophecy(2 drops - 15 mins), demogorgon(2 drops - 15 mins), demons in DR(2 drops - 20 mins) and demons in ToD(2 drops - 20 mins) until I max out my daily refining which takes just over an hour. So 35k in a day times 21 days = 735,000 ad. I normally do three toons daily sometimes only two.
This doesn't count the Stronghold HE's for influence, Tiamat or any dungeon which can drop something salvageable. It just gets me to my daily limit that much sooner. I end up banking or mailing it to another toon to fill his/her daily quota without having to play them. On a weekend day I can fill 8 toons with daily limit. That is 280,000 ad in a day.

I think the point was that since VIP'ers pay no fee to post an item on AH, they can afford to throw it up for a huge cost. They don't have to eat a 5k - 10k AD posting fee if it doesn't sell.
I´ve been saving forever for a freakin´ perfect vorpal for my tr and cw to share (and yah, I realize a dread would be better for the cw but even the thought of acquiring a perf. vorpal AND a perf. Dread gives me an eye-twitchy). So while I was saving like Dagobert Duck the price kept climbing up and up and up...it started getting funny. Seriously, if anyone thinks prices right now are "ok" - I have to wonder wth you are smoking
I will say as much: Im not smoking anything, and if people don't understand that a processed pizza ready for microwave is 3 times more expensive than a pizza done by themselves, thats their problem.
Lots of sales/events happened lately that allowed people to make enchants for low cost/make enchants for profit. But hey,i'll go back to smoke whatever you think im smoking.
Bought the dread and it seems to work good. Borrowed 8 R12 azures from my GWF to get the crit up a bit.
Now on the topic of this game being expensive now. Since i already have two BIS characters with all the trimmings and several other 3K+ characters, i think i am going to start a character in which i ONLY get items for it from either the quest reward or from drops. No mulhorand cloak, main or off-hand to start with. Since i just want to play the game (quests, campaigns, dungeons and skirmishes) i will only buy items using the AD from this character only and not from multiple invoking characters or from my wallet. I will not borrow from other character and treat this as if i am brand new to the game.Lets see how long it will take me to get to 3K IL.
Character will have. Lesser Soulforged (Will make it PVE only) At least Perfect level weapon enchant At least R10 enchants Epic level Artifact Cloak and Belt Epic level main and off-hand Legendary Artifacts (I have all Sigils unlocked and will use them where i can) Will buy new epic mount for bonus (as if i am new to the game)
Not trying to prove anything here, just an experiment to see what a F2P person has to go through to get to an item level that would allow them to get into an upper tier guild or run with a upper tier zerg group.

A 50% off sale once a year for some hours isn´t solving the problem. And I must´ve missed those events. Also, for any one person to sell things for a nifty profit there have to be some poor buggers at the other end of that bargain? We can´t all make a profit that way/play the auction house for profit, it just isn´t possible (at this point an actually viable parallel to rl comes to mind...:P)
What would help though, is putting back the coal. wards in the tamarlune shop. The suggestion to reduce posting fees a little for VIPs instead of there being no fee at all also sounds reasonable to me. Raise the chance to get one from an invocation-coffer etc.
It was to be expected that prices went up as a direct consequence of what cryptic did, and no, obviously they haven´t acted sufficiently to counterbalance that otherwise prices would go down again. Which they don´t. Any new item starting off at an outlandish price and then going down isn´t proving anything btw.
Not that I -need- a perfect vorpal for any pve-content...that´s another problem...

somewhere, something you said here is wrong. 200k in salvage at 4k per item is 50 items, 50 dungeons if you did them and go no drops except for the chest. so over 21 days that is 2.4 dungeons per day.... you make yourself sound a lot more active than that so either you are salvaging stuff and forgetting about it, or you are only doing 2 dungeons per day on your whole account
