With bugs like this and reporting on the forums, if your query goes without an answer and you want to contact a dev what do you do since you can no longer pm anyone?
In regards to a completely different issue, I needed help so I posted a new thread asking a question. I really intended for the community to feed back to me possible reasons on why my issue was happening, instead I got a dev reply saying "In the future, please contact a Moderator instead. Thanks!"
But how? XD

20% success rate for these new combines is insane. Please fix the new purple tools to actually impart quality - I'd like to see it add up to 100% given getting the items requires another gate through guild marks and time to farm. This is so broken- please talk to us about the state of SH weapons.
Once you've completed the second quest you'll receive a masterwork tool that can be used interchangeably in any recipe where the first tool can be used, and provides as much quality as any other epic asset (+40%.)
So Asterdahl,
Can you confirm this is a bug and that you will be fixing this in the future? Would be really helpful to know, although even more helpful if you actually fixed it.

As indicated by the post you are quoting, the masterwork tool you receive from the second quest provides as much quality as other epic assets (+40%) and can be used in any of the recipes unlocked by the first quest. The first tool you gain intentionally provides no bonus. Completing the recipes you obtained in the first recipe book will become easier once you've completed the second quest and unlocked the masterwork tool.
For example, after completing "The Artifact of the Matter (Artificing)," you'll receive an "Artificer's Picatrix." With this tool you'll be able to craft recipes from the first book, such as dark lacquer. However, the recipes will be difficult to complete as this picatrix provides no quality bonus but is required to complete the recipe.
After completing the second quest "A Picatrix's Worth a Thousand Words (Artificing)," you will receive a "Masterwork Artificer's Picatrix" which will be required to craft finished product recipes unlocked along with it. In addition, it can be used interchangeably with the Artificer's Picatrix in earlier material quests.

Thx that did clear things up. For an example it cleared up that masterwork is a big waste of time and effort with little gain. Thx! Now I know I wont do that.
One big question. Is the tenacity rings BOUND in anyway or not? If players is putting millions of AD and countless hours into this, they need to know if they get bound or unbound stuff.
none of the masterwork items are bound according to their tooltips in the collections page. The devs have also stated before that all the masterwork created gear will be BoE

Seems like whole huge steps are being overlooked, there's just not enough staff and the budget is tight. It's excruciatingly obvious, we have to endure these numeroussssssssssssssssss oversights.
And again? When a dev says to "contact a dev" in what manner are they suggesting we do this? In game bug report? Arc support ticket? idk but I'd love to know

I stand corrected then that this isn't so much an oversight, more so a total communication failure. We have been given no way to obtain this information in your game. Why don't you explain these very important details in the game??

this is an image of the 2nd alchemy quest and the asset it rewards. the 40% quality boost is not applied to this item
Thanks for reporting this, I was able to confirm fortunately that this is a UI bug, the bonus is applied when the item is slotted, though it does not appear in the tooltip. A fix for the tooltip should be incoming soon. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.

Wait, so the first round of craft 12 of these and then use those to craft 6 of these things is still a 20% success rate? At the huge cost of the resources (whether Guildmarks where the resources you get are random and not an even split of the three), or insane prices off the auction house, I need to sit and hope that this works?
This is beyond a joke - no one wants to sit through this mess. First you gate it behind Strongholds. Then you make us jump through flaming hoops of fire. That move. What idiotic moron thought this would be exciting at all?
Also - when you refer to "2nd quest" to most of us, that would be the 2nd task we have to do for the Artisan. Which is the quest that gives you the FIRST masterwork tool. I'm not sure how people count quests at Cryptic, but to me the tool that gives the bonus would be the reward of the THIRD quest.

The quests have 2 parts...
1quest 1st part: "Bring me 500 load of c****" 1quest 2nd part: "bring Me those 3 rare Tier 3 craft" => give 0% tool
2quest 1st part: "Bring me 3 shiny gold thing" 2quest 2nd part: "Bring me again 3 gold thing and larger gold thing" => give 40% tool
Confusion level maximum, notice that between 2quest 1st part and 2quest 2nd part, you will have to use a second profession to craft .... but as the npc already took your 3 gold thing, you can't cancel quest to up the other profession and stay stuck....
No "normal/average" player will touch this HAMSTER with a 10 foot pole.
Only those with oceans full of AD and resources will toy with Masterwork Proffesion, or those who has the previous + a LOT of time, thus crazy bored with the game already.
We have a crazy AD/resources sink called Strongholds, now we have another one called Masterwork. At the moment, SH gives us really nice boons, on the other hand Masterwork gives close to nothing with stupid amount of things needed.
My thought?
I would be really surprised if 0,5% of game population will even bother to take the 1st Masterwork quest. I know I took it only by mistake mashing buttons.
On a final note. I see some good amount of work put in the thing. I would rather scrap the idea and move these resources to make the game better? now who's with me?!

I stopped after finishing both portion of 1st quest. Fortunately, the 1st quest did not cost me an arm and a leg. I used gathering resource to level jewelcrafting. Hence, I had ton of those. I spend 3000 Guild Mark to get a map to get 4 gold ore. Then, I saw that 20% chance. I stopped. No, thank you.
*** The game can read your mind. If you want it, you won't get it. If you don't expect to get it, you will. ***
I'm almost done with 3rd quest and I've only spent 20k AD, I didn't even have to spend it I was just being impatient. As far as everyone saying that this is a huge AD sink, you're just impatient is all. If you're able to Master the profession then you are able to craft the mats. Costs 0 ad to do that, just in case you forgot or something because no ones talking about that. xD

Thats not even possible. I think you mixing the quests count up somehow.
Without rushing it, you cant possible crafted everything needed for almost the 3rd quest. This would take weeks since it has 20% chance.
What quest are you actually doing right now? What is it that you need?
As there seems to be a bit of confusion over what constitutes a quest, here's a brief rundown.
A quest is a unique entry in your journal or quest tracker with its own unique name. For instance "Looming Large (Tailoring)" is a quest. Generally, although not always, when you complete a quest you'll be provided with rewards. A quest may be made up of any number of tasks. These appear below the quest in white text in your quest tracker. Tasks are objectives you must complete in order to progress your quest, for instance: "Deliver 10 ingots" or "Kill 10 enemies." Finishing a task does not usually provide immediate rewards unless it is the last task in a quest, in addition, the name of the quest in your log does not change.
When I refer to the tools rewarded from quests, I am referring to the unique quests that show up in your journal and must be accepted individually, not the series of tasks within the first quest. Hopefully this helps to clarify.

I started jewelcrafting Mastercraft and was so excited - I mean I am looking for a way to grind my way to some nice new rings etc. I decide not to buy anything from the auction house except blue beezels which I made Purple.
Even with a 60% chance on getting past the second task from the artisan, I have to wait for the Rare Event to show up. Of course, it finally showed up and then it failed.
Now I read here that it goes down to 20% later on, and im about to give up.
The rng in this game destroys the joy of grinding to make things. Even making enchantments is not worth it, its just cheaper to buy on the auction house. Thats no fun at all.
The game made some progress on costing, but has a long way to go. You know, with VIP membership, Cryptic will have a steady source of income, so maybe give VIP members and easier route on making stuff?
actually it is cheaper to make your own enchantments in nearly all cases. Probably making your own r7s isn't worth it anymore, but making your own high ranked enchants is definitely worth it. And with VIP people who are making stuff get cheaper ingredients (marks) in the wondrous bazzar

Im gonna take you up on that....I think your are right BTW. Im going to try and make a Brutal 12. I think they go for around 1.7 mill on the AH. I am full VIP and have enough for pres wards and bars for Coal wards....just grind CTA a bit.
What % rng should I not use pres wards and go to coal wards? thx

This is going to come down to rng....with the pres wards....it may end up costing more for me to make than the AH....we shall see
I'm told as long as the cost of a coal ward is below the cost of 33 pres wards you are better off using pres wards to upgrade from r11 to r12. Personally i have spent as few as 2 pres wards from r11-r12 and as many as 156. Your milage will vary and it comes down to how much you are willing to click. That 33 pres wards is an average cost. you may or may not beat it.

"beckylunatic" Gateway AH should have column headers to sort by buyout, bid, end time, quantity, etc. These disappeared iirc with the module launch. It's obnoxious.
