Current it takes 1.7M EXP to get a low "chance" at a power point to further upgrade skills. I've personally heard horror stories of people going through 17 overflow levels with no power points granted.
These power points are huge when it comes to squeezing out damage or utility, and the grind to obtain them is ridiculous and not even guaranteed.
So here are some suggestions on the current system, and I wan't the communities answer.
[QoL] Power Points & Overflow Leveling 112 votes
The amount of Overflow EXP needed needs to be reduced; Power Points should be awarded after EVERY Level.
Power Points should be awarded after EVERY Level.
Power Points should be awarded after EVERY OTHER Level.
The current system for Power Points is fine, Does not need adjustment.
Power Points need to be more rare.
The amount of Overflow EXP needs to be increased in order to Level; Power Points need to be more rare.

Get this.
20million XP.
1 Powerpoint.
Ridiculous.
I understand its an RNG chance and I had bad bad luck, but because powerpoint are of core/critical progression importance coupled with the huge amount of XP required for a *chance* at them, obtaining them should NOT be luck. Period. 3million XP from level 1 to 70. More than have that for just a CHANCE at a powerpoint. Nope. Not even wrong.

a)Leave XP requirements as is and award every level
--OR--
b)Reduce XP requirements (lets say 1 mil) and keep as a random chance.
My last reward was (3) rank 5 enchants! THANKS!!!!
While I enjoy a long standing character progression it shouldnt be based on an RNG chance for my efforts!!!
I'm actually shocked there isnt a $50 "Unlock all PP" in the ZEN Market yet.
I've said it once I'll say it again... when you add up the benefits of all (9) 4th PP unlocks active in your hotbar it far outweighs gear bonuses.
You are talking nice consistent bonuses on avg per power that you unlock across your character etc... it really amounts to a lot.
Furthermore new players are scrooed while pre-MOD6 players like my GWF have them all unlocked with far less effort.
How often are you people hitting overflow rewards that you'd want it increased? O_o
98 power points here
.Suicide Squad.
The only thing we want is powerpoints! You can remove the rest of the garbage.. if you want to be totally Santa Clause, leave them , but ALWAYS reward the power point..
It takes quite long enough to get to one.. it should be a happy dance reward.. not a ... IM logging now reward, screw it.
If your char does not need power point, you don't care about power point. Getting power point is a waste.
In that case, I want the 30K AD.
I would like them to give me a choice to select what I want.
No, they are not going to give that to me.
I choose none of the above.
Completing quests in SH, running content, you get a very small amount of exp if compared to that amount. 6k-12k from quests, some small amounts from mobs when running dungeons... basically:
17.000exp= 1% of overflow
Bigger repeatable gives 12.000=0,7% of overflow
Normal repeatable gives 6.000= 0,35% of overflow
Mixing them up, we can say 0.5% of overflow each quest
These quests, done in speed and picking them up in a smart way (choosing the ones in the same area), still require a few minutes to complete, we can say at least 5 minutes average, being optimistic, taking into account the time to pick up quests and move to the quest area. 5 minutes for 0,5% of overflow. Means that doing only repeatable quests for 2 hours a day you earn 0,5x12=6% of exp overflow.
if you are geared enough to basically breeze through them, doing only those quests for 2 hours a day. Add scaps from mobs killed.
So if you only do repeatable quests for exp 2 hours every day, you cap the overflow in about 2 weeks.
30 hours of PvE quests, 1,7M exp, to get 3x rank 5s. Or an opal.
We're not talking about a "extra bonus" you get like the tarmalune bars from lockboxes, cause running normal end-game dungeons or PvP you get far less experience. You must FOCUS on exp to cap overflow in 2 weeks. It's not a bonus "extra".
I think the effort you make to collect 1,7M exp is well worth a 100% sure power point till the day you cap the power points amount, and after that it should grant either 50k AD (not RAD) or rank7 enchants, with a chance to drop a rank8 enchant or something better with a very low chance.
Now that is a reasonable reward for such a big amount of exp (1,7M) at such a slow rate (0,X% each quest) in end game gameplay.
The dev team needs to add more awards to the common player, and stop adding incredible incentives to the hands of the minor elite. The gear gap now is essentially insurpassable with skill (I'm not saying gear alone is all thats needed, a Geared player with skill still 100 - 0's a non skilled player) but if someone has the bear minmum pvp gear, they should have a chance to win with skill.
A change like this is only logical and adds to more damage %'s that can close the gap between the new players and elitist crowds. This change would also allow for some worth to be put into the fact that it's your "main class" when talking about using multiple toons.
Knowledge = Power.
Can't they just copy that? Sigh...
Anyways, our current system here is just an afterthought, just pretend it's not there and you won't get as mad when you'll get your 3 rank 5 enchants.
Just some examples
TR - ITC for 1 more second (Lol you don't know how big that is)
CW - Shield gets more passive Defense
GWF - Hidden Daggers / Weapon Master/ Destroyer gets more damage stacks
GF - ITF gets 25% more damage boost... LOL
SW - Borrowed gets more Inc heal per soul spark
the list goes on... these power points are huge for min/maxing.
My preferred choice now would be that "The amount of Overflow EXP needed needs to be reduced; Power Points should be awarded after EVERY Level." Yet, at the very least I feel "Power Points should be awarded after EVERY OTHER Level." Regardless, it should be a consistent reward, not RNG.

That being said, waiting for rnGods to shine kindly on you is a slap in the face.
Again, increase xp needed and 100% success gaining power pt.
Dude... it takes 7200000 Exp to get to level 70, 1.7m is almost a third of the total expirence needed for level 70... don't you think thats overkill?
Why Cryptic insists on pissing its customers off as opposed to rewarding them with something to feel good about is beyond me.
I would suggest a fresh 70 gets 5 power points right of the bat as a reward. But im just some dork playing an mmo. Or whatever...
