Power Points should be awarded after EVERY Level.
rng on gaining power points is rather inane after the xp changes. imo.

I can see why it could be kept in (to pressure alts and newer players to respec more often, due to not being able to spread around all power points as easily), but it is a rather scummy thing to subject players to as is.

Power Points should be awarded after EVERY OTHER Level.
Interesting... I was told by my guild mates it was 50/50 when over leveling to be awarded an additional Power Point. I haven't been playing long enough to have personally noticed a trend. I've got 2 power points for the 4 times I've over leveled. Sounds like I've been fortunate. :o

I don't actually mind it taking a while. But I do mind that you don't get a power point every time. It is a bit like opening lock boxes. Everything in there should give you a feeling that it is something nice, even if not the best thing. At present you can get. 1.7 Million XP and get a few rank 5 enchants. That's pathetic. So you go from "great - XP reward" to "oh damn". Giving you a negative view of the game. And there's really no good reason given that one has so many skills to spend them on!

I would suggest a fresh 70 gets 5 power points right of the bat as a reward.

I agree - you have a complete imbalance between people that have been fortunate to have played for the past year+, versus the new players/toons. This would at least balance their capabilities in line with 'older' toons. Easy to implement now with new mod - if you are level 70 and you do not have 75 PP, you get what is missing - straight up. Good reward for the elemental grind between 60 and 70 :)

As well, I would have opted for a decrease in exp (say 1M), with a PP every 2nd level, RNG for the alternate levels. Leave RNG for stuff that is 'Ahh, OK, but not critical...'. PP ARE critical, and should be treated as such, and I see advancing your toon as critical. Another poster mentioned about a choice between AD and PP, so after 10 PP, that system could also be introduced. I am fortunate on one toon I would be taking that route - on my others, I sweat to see if I get the PP...

The point is Cryptic want you to spend money on a respec, but by making PP RNG, it is a joke. Lucky players are OK, others not - no incentive to pay. Lower the cost of respec, make PP a set item - it will get people experimenting again. VIP proves we will spend money for value.

Might is not always right - the powerful sometimes forget that.

What are you talking about? Respecs are free in the test server. That's where people usually go to experiment.
No amount of respec is going to change the fact that you don't have enough power points to max everything you want.

The random overflow level power point gain problem is more like an content XP/character progression/bonus XP calculation experiment gone horribly wrong.
You there. New to the game? Feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you think getting to end-game is impossible for a casual player like yourself, or maybe you just need to be around a community that helps each other stay sane and competitive with the latest news, current trends, random chitchat and most of all LEGIT (that is, we try to keep things fair) gameplay. If you don't mind being around quirky people and the rare occasional drama (one of our prominent TR members is apparently a mafia godfather) join nw_legit_community at http://www.nwlegitcommunity.shivtr.com/forum_threads/2330542.

Extra Power Points were dropping like candy when mod 6 first came out. Then it changed. I have no incentive to level an alt right now to be honest, and this Power Point issue one of the main reasons.

That is money they are leaving on the table, because I would have spent real money to invest in the alt, but the game is VERY alt unfriendly.

I honestly don't see this problem.

The game allows you to freely trade enchants between characters, from which you get the bulk of your stats. Artifacts are very easy to upgrade considering how cheap rank 5+ stacks currently are and how often we get X2 RP events. There are now dozens of ways your main can equip your alt with good gear, ranging from armor sets from the campaign storse, account-wide sigils, ardent coin weapon rewards that scale with your level and account bound drops from skirmishes and dungeons. If you support the game and use your RL money wisely, your alts should have good mounts and and should be enjoying the benefits of the VIP system.
That basically only leaves artifact equipment and boons.
Playable content is no longer gatelocked by campaign progress, so as long as your alt has the level/gear he could be doing T2s the moment he hits 70. Stronghold boons/benefits are apparently extremely powerful and to get them you mostly just need to join a good guild. Content difficulty has been scaled down so that even ~2k iLvL characters can do T2s, and worst case scenario you could simply hire a good perma-bubble OP or AP gain DC to carry you. Hell, some people are practically soloing T2s these days.

So what exactly makes Neverwinter so alt-unfriendly? The only way I see this happening is if you are trying to turn your alt into a main, and OBVIOUSLY that's not supposed to be easy.
You want a perfect char, good luck with that. But making a good character is easy.

The amount of Overflow EXP needed needs to be reduced; Power Points should be awarded after EVERY Level.
First, it was very easy to get power points in the past, i hit 60, took a break, then played a bit on the way to 70, when the XP required was much lower, and i'm at 83 power points at the moment... and that is a really low number.
Even with those points i can rank the powers i use up to 4.

Now imagine someone really active in that time, that player might have around 90-100 power points, and with that more then enough to rank up several powers to 4.
So much for your "fact" of having not enough power points.

If you're a vet. player, you have enough power points.
    If you're a new player, you're screwed.

Second, the reward from the overflow is just a cruel joke, nothing else.
My last "reward", a couple of rank 5 enchantments, that drop at nearly any corner in the level 70+ content...
That is not a real reward for 1.7m XP gathered.

Third, power points should be rewarded regulary, so that new players can actually catch up at some point to a vet. players.
The equipment advantage is allready bad enough, it's not necessary to make it even worse with power points...
