  • Hahahahahahahahahahaha...No. Sorry, but the game just isnt getting enough development to justify spending $200 for a LT sub. I mean, new costumes and a temporary event every now and then just doesnt cut it.
  • 1) source? 2) they are probably working on more than just Champs
  • https://www.dcuniverseonline.com/shop/dlc-packs Unfortunately there is nothing comparable to point to with this game.
  • And thats the big difference: DCUO is actually getting regular updates. This game isnt. Except the writer DIDNT hate on this game. She admitted she doesnt like it AS MUCH as COX, but she still LIKES it more than DCUO or Marvel. Not liking something AS MUCH as you like something else does not mean you HATE it. At least, not…
  • Tell that to STO. All you have to do is look at their dev tracker to see there is plenty of interaction. By your logic this should mean there is little actual development going on. However, they just released a big update, and their second expansion is coming later this year.
  • The fact that you keep putting words in the writers mouth to try to make your point proves you have no valid point in the first place. The writer NEVER said they didnt like CO. Not one single time. What she did say is that she enjoyed COX more than she enjoys CO. And regardless of that fact, she is still interested in…
  • Um, no. You see, just because you may not like one game AS MUCH as you like another does not necessarily mean that you dont like it AT ALL. I play several games, and some I enjoy more than others. But I still LIKE them all. So no, not liking Champs AS MUCH as COX does not mean you cant still LIKE Champs or that you are…
  • Looks like you missed this part: Highlight mine of course. She has obviously played this game before, and is thinking of coming back. But she has also obviously kept up with the game's development, and can see its stagnating. Thats not some uniformed person who has never played the game because of word of mouth, its…
  • Except none of that is really the point. What is stopping him from playing CO is NOT that it isnt "as good" as COX. What is stopping him is the sad state of development the game is in right now.
  • It seems like a lot of people missed/forgot/didnt comprehend this part of the OP: I never said or even implied that Steam represented the majority of people playing. Of course not everyone plays through Steam, but that is also true of those other games. The point was to make a comparison with those other games using a…
  • You'll be really happy when the game shuts down then
  • http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?p=14501981#post14501981 Highlights mine. Unfortunately this game isnt doing well enough to have more than a small dev team. And unfortunately we have nothing more to look forward to than a new event every now and then, or a new costume, or a bug fix. This game will not be…
  • Are these all going to be qued/instanced missions? Because I'm personally getting sick of that. It's starting to feel like this isnt really an open MMO world, but just a hub for teleporting to missions.
  • Just another example of the stark contrast between STO and Champs: http://www.startrek.com/article/first-look-tim-russ-joins-the-star-trek-online-cast Of course, Champs isnt based on a TV series so it cant get actors from its IP, but the fact that STO has a budget large enough to pay celebs to do VO work in addition to…
  • Judging from the development the 2 games are getting, they arent even comparable. STO gets lots of new playable/mission type content on a regular basis. Champs gets mainly fluff, with a new alert every now and then. As someone who plays both games, they are worlds apart in the development they are getting.
  • IDK if I'd say STO was *always* "highly profitable", but I think it has always been *more* profitable than Champs. That said, STO did go through a time period where nothing was happening(similar to Champs now), but it came out of it and has been on the rise ever since.
  • Yeah, "exact same"...except for the fact that I asked if you were surprised rather than stating it. Whats cute is how you think different things can be "the exact same". First not understanding punctuation, now not even understanding words. Yeah, thats real cute
  • I never said you were surprised, I ASKED. Or did you not see the 3 question marks in my last post? They look like this "?" for future reference. Learning what punctuation marks mean will be helpful in the future. But since you didnt answer my questions, I'll ask you again: were you surprised? If not, what was the "Good…
  • "Good lord"? Are you surprised by this? Are you new to the internet or MMO forums if you are surprised by ridiculous things being said?
  • Personal attacks only mean you no longer have a valid counter argument. If you disagree with something someone says, explain why. But attacking the person just makes you look foolish, it doesnt somehow make your point more valid.
  • STO and NW are solid MMOs, but it has nothing to do with the fact that they've "mastered the engine". The reason those games are solid MMOs is because they havent been all but given up on, and receive new quality updates on a regular basis. Champ's combat is actually a lot better than STO's ground combat, but I'm not…
  • Yes, I can see that. And I'm not disagreeing that STO and Champs are getting much better development, so we have no disagreement on that issue. But since STO and Champs are not the only games on that list, then any other game on that list is a valid comparison to this one, if the question is why those games made the list…
  • No, I got your point; I just think your'e wrong. The engine is not the "problem" with Champs; it is the lack of any substantial development at this point. LOTRO is older than this game and the combat is not as fun(IMO), but the fact that it has received constant high quality updates is the reason that game is on the list…
  • I honestly dont think anybody expected that. But this is just another(of many) examples showing how far Champs falls behind Cryptic's other 2 games in development. The only slight glimmer of hope this game has, IMO, is this: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/12/29/mmo-publisher-perfect-world-entertainment-bringing-current-and/
  • The engine has nothing to do with it. Look how old LOTRO is, and it made the list. No, it is the development the game gets that matters, not how old the engine is. Unfortunately this game isnt really getting anything noteworthy at this point, but I do hope that will change.
  • I never said anything about being surprised, thats just you ASSuming
  • On ARC only? Um, who cares. Well, I guess the OP does, obviously. But its also pretty obvious from painfully small amount of development this game gets that it falls FAR behind STO, NW, and probably most of PWE's other games. I mean, its simple economics: your top games get the most re-investment, and this is obviously not…
  • No, there probably wont be any new veteran rewards, but not for the reason you mentioned. They could still add more rewards in the future, and people who sub monthly would have to reach them, while people who have LT subs would get them right away. You know, kind of like how it works right now if "new guy A" subs up for a…
  • I'm not a console gamer, and probably never will be. However, more exposure means more players, and that means more revenue and development for the game. So for that reason alone I hope this happens.
  • LOL! Yeah, that game is "so bad" that they get actual expansions, VOs from actual celebrities, and are about to start a beta for an official mac client. Wow, they are really doing bad arent they? By that logic, why would any business ever have a sale? The answer is, even if some people would pay full price, far more will…
  • STO's biggest problems with foundry exploitation have been resolved. Sure people can make grind missions, but the real currency that matters is not xp, but dilithium. And now the amount of dilithium you get is based on the average mission play time(not your own). That means there is nothing you can personally do to game…
  • Not saying you are wrong, because that certainly *could* have happened. But I doubt it. I think it would have been like DCU in the fact that you create your own hero, then interract with the "famous" characters much like you already do in this game with the Champions.
  • I never said it was simple, but I think it is one of the most significant things they could do at this point to prolong the life of this game.
  • If I could decide specifically what type of content the money would develop, yes. But if I didnt have any control over it, no way.
  • Lockboxes are how they pay for new mission content. I dont have a problem with that, because I dont have to buy them, but I still get to play the new content.
  • The foundry would completely change my view of this game. At the moment, its pretty bleak, because the only thing we really have to look forward to is temporary events. But if I knew I had a completely new mission I could play every time I logged in, I would be much more motivated to actually...log in.
  • While this certainly seems like good news, I dont really like the word "polish" because it doesnt seem to suggest adding new content, but rather fixing bugs and the like. Not that bugs dont need fixing, but games also need to keep getting new content to keep people playing them.
  • Your post that I quoted didnt say anything about moderation, you said there were "too many people over there". And my response is there is no such thing as "too many people", for the reasons I mentioned in my previous post. Champions is currently suffering because it has too few people. I'll happily take the alternative.…
  • Lots of people = lots of money = real development. Id say a crowded forum is worth a game getting actual content.
  • Its pretty simple. If you are simply giving your opinion, there is nothing to prove so no source is needed. But if you are quoting statistics, then you should be able to provide a link to your source. If you cant do that then your comments are meaningless.
  • There is no doubt that the majority of players dont post on the forum. Therefore, they are the silent majority. What IS in doubt is what they believe about the game. The OP seems to think they all agree with him, which is extremely naive. By posting on the forums the OP is proving he isnt silent, therefore isnt part of the…
  • The burden of proof lies with the person who makes the claim, not the person who questions it. If you cant support your own claims, then they are meaningless and should not be factored in to the overall conversation of the thread.
  • On the contrary. I think some people simply disagree with the design philosophy of temporary content in a game that is starved for new content. If you are going to put the manpower and hours into making something, leave it in the game. That way by the end of the year lots of new things have been added, rather than simply…
  • Trek fans alone arent responsible for making STO Perfect World's best performing game: http://massively.joystiq.com/2013/02/21/stahl-star-trek-online-is-perfect-worlds-best-performing-game/ Believe it or not, there are a lot of Trek fans who dont even know about STO. Certain devs have attended Trek conventions and…
  • Regardless of how devs for other game companies may behave in general, the simple fact of the matter is the devs from Cryptics other 2 games(STO and NW) are actively having discussions with their communities on the forums. Champs is the only Cryptic game where that isnt happening. So, what makes Champs different? Lets…
  • So Alerts are the only thing to get questionite?
