Tornadoes are white, not brown. When a tornado touches down, it does pick up and throw about dirt and debris, yes. But due to centrifugal force (or just the tendency of objects to try to travel in a straight line, the debris makes its way to the outside of of a tornado. Once the tornado is no longer on the ground, it turns back to white because the debris falls out of the vortex.

Okay, so suggestion.
Right now, Tornado Flight already kicks up debris when on the ground, but the vortex is also dirty. Myself and other players would like it to have a white effect, like an actual tornado. This could be a 0 point Advantage for a "white tornado". But, regardless, the vortex of the tornado shouldn't be dirty when the bottom of the tornado is no longer touching the ground.
Right now, the appearance of the tornado does turn white, but only when the player is above building rooftop level. And, as the video shows, the core of a tornado stays white for most tornadoes (because debris works its way out of the vortex).
Thanks.
PS - how do I change my avatar!?
Comments
Not sure if Tornado Flight takes on an earthy/red appearance in the desert or if it is a consistent coloring no matter where activated - earth flight for example changes depends on the surface activated from
Edit: actually looking at pics in cstore - depending on starting surface Tornado flight also changes color/appearance.
Ps. when speaking for other players list them. otherwise you are just speaking for yourself.

Because of this, it will never ever happen....
0 Point Advs are scourge of the Cryptic Engine.
And Sharkanado was blue and red.....
How about change the bloody flight position 1st.....

2) While tornadoes CAN take on different colorations, they actually rarely do. It depends on the convection within the tornado, the type (and looseness) of soil beneath them, and the height of the clouds, and how much water is in the air.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eeyou7BL_0g
Once again, the vast majority of the tornadoes in this video are... white (or, at least, the same color as the clouds). In very VERY few instances (such as when the tornado goes over very loose soil, such as over a dry and freshly plowed field) the tornado will pick up the soil into it. But take a similar tornado just a few weeks after the fields have been rained on, are wet, and otherwise no longer loose soil, and the tornado will remain white.
Once again, once the tornado is off the ground, however, this all become moot, because the soil is solid, and solid wants to travel in a straight line, and said straight line carries it out of the tornado. Tornadoes are white. The junk that is in the tornado is not white. And that junk will work its way out of a tornado much sooner than you think it will.
Regardless, I can take my character ABOVE the base of the old UNITY building, and the tornado remains "dirty", and the bottom of the tornado is no longer even vaguely close to the ground at that point. And that's what myself and some other people dislike.
0 Point Advantage is the best solution for people who like looking like Pig Pen when they are flying around.
Sharknado was a movie, not reality.
0 Points Advantages are already in the game and already changed the appearance of different powers and even the character. It's obviously totally within the ability of the engine.
And I don't necessarily mind the posture of flight in the Tornado. Maybe something in the middle ground, though. When the character is leaning, but not fully horizontal would look good. I don't think either of our points is a priority, however, as far as important, but these are the things that they are most likely to mess with.
Instead of, you know, fixing West Side and nerfing the Alert System.
You should find out what making a 0 Point Adv actually requieres, since it's not just you make a thing and put it as 0 Point Adv to a Power.
You make Rank 1 Power.
You make Rank 2 Power.
You make Rank 3 Power.
You make 0 Point Adv Rank 1.
You make 0 Point Adv Rank 2.
You make 0 Point Adv Rank 3.
You make Rank 1 Power with 0 Point Adv.
You make Rank 2 Power with 0 Point Adv.
You make Rank 3 Power with 0 Point Adv.
You make Rank 1 Power with 0 point Adv #2.
You make Rank 2 Power with 0 point Adv #2.
You make Rank 3 Power with 0 point Adv #2.
And all the earlier 0 Point Advs were all ready imput in the powers....
But then again, maybe CN devs feel different about making 0 point Advs. Or not.
Since we've seen so many new Powers lately.
And they can't make different flight positions that what we allready have. They don't have resources.
They broke West Side and made Alerts System OP?

I don't know what a 0 Point Advantage requires. I don't know their engine workings. Maybe you do. Maybe you're right. I don't know. Either or, I don't care. If they can't, then just make the tornado white, and let the ground effects be the extent of the dirty effects.
Now, as far as what is or isn't in the game? I am not asking for anything new to be put into the game. Use what's already in the game.
1) the white effect for tornado flight already is in the game. If you don't have a character with Tornado Flight, then you wouldn't know this. Fly up to about 20 stories high off the ground, and your tornado turns white and cloudy. That's how I want Tornado Flight to look like basically all the time, or, at least, as soon as the bottom of the tornado is off the ground.
2) the first point of flight animation, where the character is leaning over, is already in the game. That would be a good animation for all points of the power. That said, I don't really mind the flight animation for Tornado Flight, though, honestly, I was sort of disappointed by the horizontal position originally.
And as far as West Side. Yes, it's cleaner, but the mission orders are a mess. You literally get linked to a level 10 mission after completing level 16 missions. It's a mess.
And the Alert System has destroyed the game, overall.
You log in. You select a character. You go to your Alert Box while idling in RenCen. You log out. Why have anything other than RenCen accessible? But, honestly, that's a topic for a different thread.
However I agree that the tornado power in game is a little disappointing but come on, are you seriously going to complain about something being unrealistic in a game where people fly through the air and jump tall buildings in a single leap? Or swing through the air on chains that seem to attach themselves to...well.....nothing at all? I mean let's set all travel powers to a more realistic form, which basically means we would all be running everywhere or hailing a cab!
And I'm not talking about it because it's unrealistic. I'm complaining about it because it's ugly. And, worse, it's ugly for no good reason.
And as far as hailing a cab... tell me you wouldn't love to have a motorcycle or car for a travel power... Really. Tell me.
So is my wife, but if I have to live with that then you can live with with this
I would, I would rather have a more mundane travel power for some of my toons. And if anyone mentions the ingame vehicles at this point I will scream. They're the biggest pile of pants ever added to this game as far as I am concerned
Oh ho ho ho. You're a jerk!
But, no, plastic surgery would be a lot more expensive than it would to fix even BOTH of these issues.
My complaint is caused by code that is obviously already in the game... Literally, all they would have to do is change a number on the height attribute where the tornado turns white.
And the call to what model the tornado flight references is likely as easy to fix... It's simply a matter of will.
Sorry about your wife... but maybe she only puts as much effort as she thinks you're worth... Whoops!
I know, right. They really made the travel powers look really gimpy, honestly. I would LOVE to have a motorcycle for my character... or a car... Now, they would have to do something about the ridiculous traffic around the city for it to work, though.
Traffic is no problem, you just pick it up and throw it out of the way.
It's not that the powers are gimpy or anything to me. It's just that one or two of my characters I wanted to be a little more conventional and .... err..... human I guess. I didn't want them to have superhuman abilities, I wanted them to be normal but with skills rather than powers, if you get me. Trained martial artist for instance, or a champion fencer, who use their skills to fight crime. So I usually just go with cape-glide for those (if they wear one) as it's sort of feasible. I guess I'm just a little fussy with my character creation........fussier than I was in marriage anyway
