Hey heroes, due to popular demand, we're going to be bringing back the Steel Crusade giveaway in two weeks, for the anniversary finale weekend.
We know Friday was a bit hectic, and a few of you guys weren't able to claim your shuttle(s) and costume sets. Plus... heck, people were having fun, and we want to give new players that opportunity, too! The criteria and rewards will be the same in Giveaway Weekend 2: Electric Boogaloo, so if you've already claimed a shuttle on one character, you won't be able to claim another on that character.
Though for future reference, can there be a way to be gotten rid of unwanted vehicles? A great deal of people were surprised that these were bound on pickup instead of just giving one to use on the whole account. The big reason is that they might take up unwanted space on the assumption that that you would only get one and it would Bind on Account.
...I had to "pay" in game currency to get the shuttle and the costume parts.
Filed a ticket. Lot of good that's gonna do.
Nice try though.

Jeebus cripes. You "paid" a grand total of 1 National 10 Local!
Can anyone remind me how much Resources your character has on creation? 'Cause I'm pretty sure it's more than that.
You're not getting a refund. Get over it.

Logging into the powerhouse after skipping the tutorial I had around 5N. If you use free currency to buy something does that mean you got the item for free?
Okay, went into my emergency backup Silver account, created a throwaway toon. It had 1N 80L. It could have purchased a Shuttle and the costume set (had I not done so already last weekend), and still had 70L left to reconsider costume choices without even doing any missions.

You just don't get it.....
We have this free game that gives us free currency to buy a free vehicle.... ... ... .. I had a point.
I couldn't create my RA AT until Monday evening. So she didn't get her shuttle nor the xp boost. Now she'll be able to get her shuttle, at least.
And I did got thru my 4 pages of alts to get them their free shuttle. Hey, it's faster than the free Anti-grav boots they all got. And some of these characters don't have ANY flight, making a few perks impossible (cowboy hat on gigantic statue at Stronghold, comes to mind).
If there's no double xp at this new time, meh, I won't mind. I still have many unused XP boost stuff just waiting to be used.
.
-=-=-=-=-=-(CO in-game handle: @WarCan )-=-=-=-=-=- "Okay, you're DEAD, what do you do NEXT?"
Awesome, given that I have three pages of characters going around to get a shuttle for each one was becoming a burden, so I gave up eventually.
Having another chance is awesome!
You just have to make an assembly line-like method and knuckle down and do it. My three pages plus takes about 40 minutes to an hour to run through for events like this (then it's out of the way and I can play!).
55L isn't a lot to pay, no, but the items were advertised as free. Free means not paying anything, period. Free means talking to an NPC and getting the items the same way you get the anniversary gifts. I don't think people are complaining that 55L is too much (could be wrong), they are just stating that what was advertised as being free is not actually free; and don't give me that crap about 'you make that much or more on creation' because that still is not free like it was advertised. Spending in-game currency does not equal free.
The problem is, it's not of any significance whatsoever, so what's the actual complaint? It's griping just for the sake of griping. It's utterly meaningless.

Jon...I get your passion for the game.
But the information for the GIVEAWAY is that the costume parts and shuttle were FREE.
Ie, you show up and it is GIVEN to you. I forget the text in the box at that particular NPC and it even indicated that it was to be given away FREE. Ah yes, the word was PROMOTIONAL (I get no real world $$ exchanged hands, but please note the following.)

Champions, were proud to say that part 1 of our Steel Crusade update is almost here! Its launching on 9/10, and were going to be celebrating with a massive costume and vehicle giveaway.
Log in the weekend after it launches for a free Cyborg Beast costume set and new UNTIL Shuttle vehicle!
Starting on Friday 9/12, youll be able to talk with an NPC in Renaissance Center to claim your gifts. Hell only be available for the weekend, though, so make sure to log in over the weekend!
The Cyborg Beast costume set is perfect for your new Reawakened Automaton character, combining the best bestial draconian design with the sharp angulation of a robotic superhero. With reverse-jointed knees and sweeping wings, this costume set can also be worked into non-robotic characters for a more alien appearance.
The UNTIL Shuttle is a brand-new vehicle, similar to the Mammoth in design but with a dark grey UNTIL color scheme. Its core power is Light Armor Piercing Rounds, and it also comes with a MOD for the Heavy Cannon Mk1. (As with all MODs, if you want to try it out on a different vehicle, you can un-slot the MOD and slot it into a different vehicle.)
The Shuttle has a total of 5 MOD slots available: 2 Weapons, 2 Defensive, and 1 Support. This is a Tier 1 vehicle, so you can upgrade it with a Vehicle Tune-Up Kit. (Look for the Shuttle to make an explosive appearance in Part 2 of the Steel Crusade update!)
These items will be free to claim, and the shuttle will be character-bound and available once per character (not account), but it'll only be available for a limited time. Make sure to log in and get yours in the time frames below, Champions, and get ready for part 1 of Steel Crusade on 9/10!

Holy ...poop.
Dingdongs, alot of you.
Ok, the company has an agenda to empty our valuable, ingame Resources by throwing at us apparently free stuff.
First they reel us in by false promises, and once they got us hooked in, it's *BAM!!* your resources are gone.
Good thing there are vigilant people that keep this agenda spreading around. By telling over and over and over again what is FREE and "FREE".
Well, atleat you keep the forum alive.

But you are given the Resources necessary to make this "transaction", merely by creating your character. No effort on your part is necessary at all.
If you're offered, say, a free Happy Meal at McDonald's, do you complain that it's not really "free" because you had to cut a coupon out of the newspaper and give it to the cashier? (Which, incidentally, is more effort than is required to redeem your Shuttle and costume pack.)
Also, what I have isn't so much a passion for the game, as a passionate dislike for deliberate obfuscation, particularly when its only purpose is to prolong an otherwise purposeless argument.
"Science teaches us to expect -- demand -- more than just eerie mysteries. What use is a puzzle that can't be solved? Patience is fine, but I'm not going to stop asking the universe to make sense!"
I got a coupon for a free hamburger the other day.
The restaurant sent a towncar to my house to pick me up, knowing that it would cease to be a free hamburger if I had to pay for costly gasoline and have my car suffer depreciation expenses by traveling. Since you have to wear clothes at their establishment, and since it isn't a free hamburger if you have to pay for your own damn clothes to get it, they bathed and clothed me before taking me to the restaurant. After carrying me to the table via stretcher, they pried my jaws open, chewed my free hamburger for me, and regurgitated it into my mouth. Considerate, since making me do any of these things for my 'free' burger would be akin to manual labor. They then wrapped me up in a diaper, and sent me home with a nurse, in order to make sure that the final passage of their free burger would not be something I'd have to bother with myself--otherwise what's the point of free things? I was pleased that they also left $50 cash on my dining room table, realizing that the opportunity cost of spending time enjoying my burger would've disqualified it from being 'free'.
PWE has a lot of nerve trying to pass this off as free. They will be hearing from my attorney.
Not that the cost was a big enough deal for me to really say anything... more like grumbling acceptance, but I get that people are more upset at the principal of the matter.
I'd been building my library of toons and using the handy "all" button in my shared bank to collect and buy some auction house items. To find out that free meant I had to take every damn toon to my hideout to get 55L (I already had the costume set) on each character...well that was a hassle for 5 pages. I was a bit miffed that there was a cost associated, even if it was a small token price.
So yeah, wasn't a huge thing...but if someone is upset I get it. Free implies nothing and thus was my expectation. Given what happened, I'm not using the "all" button ever again just to save on hassle.
Glad there's another weekend coming up for people that missed out. Having all the extra players in game was fun.

I think a good real-world analogy would be a free sample, that you have to pay postage to get.
I'm not using the "all" button ever again just to save on hassle.
I took a level 40 out near the big fountain just west of city center, there are 4 purple gang members that hang out there...I tapped my AoE attack and for my trouble I received exactly 55 locals.
That's probably easier than taking all your characters to your bank one at a time...it certainly is more fun.
On a completely different note, I'd say it'd be better if you made the Retro Sci Fi free for this weekend. The first one came out alongside (well... close enough) to the RA AT coming out, and was a set for Robots. Now we're going into space, and what better costume set to unlock than the 'Spaceman' costume set? Because it basically is, it's the only set that unlocks Huge Helmets (except for the 'buggy' newer ones).
Also, I already have this set, so I wouldn't be benefiting from this myself, per se. However, it's probably my all-time favorite set (I use some of the pieces for almost every tech suit I've ever made) and would love to see more people in bubble-helmets careening through zero-gravity.
It makes sense, if you don't think about it.

Depends. Is someone giving me the stamp? Because all my character had to do in order to have that much Resources was be "born". Didn't even have to talk to anyone, much less fight anyone.

..on that character. You can however claim the shuttle on any character which you didnt previously claim for.
A lot of people were confused why it was character bound not account bound like other vehicles.
Additionally the NPC is located on the plinth on the powerhouse.
But a very nice surprise. Thanks for the update TT

Actually, if you upgrade your shuttle to the Mark II it becomes a more standard account-wide vehicle.
Too bad you are still stuck with impossible to discard Mark I copies on the rest of your characters.
Also, Mk II shuttle is a pretty standard Mk II upgraded Z-Store tank with a rather strange setup, 4 weapon,2 Defense and 1 Support slot.
Filed a ticket. Lot of good that's gonna do.
