Flare's Final Contest

My 4yr anniversary of hosting is coming up and I think I'm going to "retire". RL is getting too busy and I have no intention of slowing it down.

As always, I'm accepting any and all donations. So if you'd like to, contact me (@Lectrohm) or one of the Contests-Central admins to donate. As with all my CCs, switching will be allowed for the Multi-category CCs. I'll update this post with more details as I get a more definitive schedule.

Your channel? Contests-Central is no more yours than Off-Topic is mine. We're the creators, but it's the people in the channel generating the content that make it work. Not to mention the fact that it's a recreation of a pre-existing channel that existed for years, but that's neither here or there. I'da pmed you about this, because personally I find it a bit insulting to your admins, but I never see you in game. I don't mean any offense, I wouldn't even say it and I'd have just quit the channel without a word, but we've been friends for a long time and I hope that affords me a bit of latitude for speaking my mind. This just leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.

Minor issues aside, it's been great knowing you, and I wish you a ton of luck in your future endeavors.

Flare used to be around a crazy amount, I saw him everywhere, all the time, when he wasn't silenced.

He's the only person I ever saw spam the Contests-Central link in zone, everyone else on that channel is a waste of space as far as promoting the contest community.Afraid of being silence? What do you think the original reason for an Alt account was, way back in the day of the first annoying chat troll?
Think...Ok another reason beside's ERPing as the opposite sex...keep thinking.

That channel name is too damn long anyway.

A bit harsh for a slip of the mind tbh. I of course meant "our" channel. In any case, I've changed this.

That's all folks! I am done with CCs, here is my full and final speech:

In the background, feel free to play Obadiah Parker's "Hey Ya"... Brett Dennan's "Ain't No Reason", Peter Gabriel's "Book of Love", Finger Eleven's "One Thing", Five for Fighting's "100 Years"... etc

If you know those songs then you know the feeling already... I played them when writing this so apologies in advance if it's a little sappy. There is a lot of you here. haha. My first contest had an earth shattering total of 0. In fact, no one showed up for my first couple of contests so I decided to show up to Dark Enforcer's CC which had people stretched around the stairs of the Champions Building (we didn't have the theater back then you whippersnappers!) with the crappiest costume I've ever made.

I asked this god of a host how he was able to get such a big turnout, and Sammael@nealky72 said to me to just have some fun. I joined DE, he taught me how to run a CC, organize it, make it so we made as many people satisfied with it as possible and... most importantly he taught me how to be fair when judging. Taking into consideration effort, colors and their usage with certain pieces, pieces and their usage with one another, etc. And while he doesn't play the game anymore, I still would like to offer my biggest thanks to him for making me part of the family.

Fast forward a bit and my first CC with a turnout gave me 4 contestants. Needless to say, they all won something...namely because their outfits were better than mine. haha. But I learned, competed, lost a crap ton, learned some more. Other than Flare's main dragon, I've never once kept an outfit the same for more than a few weeks. Not trying to get it better makes me go crazy. I've met some extraordinary people hosting and judging. Straxus@p0t3mk1n was always there to support me in DE and afterward. I've trained a few people to run a contest but Strax was the first and to this day I trust no one more with providing contests to this awesome community than him.

Bonding with people through the web is damn hard. The anonymity makes trust a much harder thing to earn. I'm proud to have Pirate Vixen@Ms.Pivi's trust. Her support during the beginning of my hosting as well as her bubbly attitude made coming online to play exciting and enjoyable. No one knows the troubles of RL more than The Mad Banana@Black_Cobra and Kurbee@Kurbee of A.R.C. I thank them for providing the best CC competition I've ever had. W/o their amazing contests, mine would still be second rate. Bunni B.O.T.@Aleatha1011, thank you for judging and hosting. More importantly, thank you for caring. Yes, these are just silly contests on a silly video game. But there's a sense of camaraderie here that I wish I saw more of in RL. I've seen few people provide this sense as than Bunni and I hope her up-beat positivity continues to spread to everyone in all of her future contests.

Many others I wish to thank include Bluhman for writing guides to creating costumes, and supporting my own contests by providing such tough competition for everyone else. I'd like to thank Slapperfish for his intense creativity and help in the game. Sister Silicon Prime for supporting practically every event I've done. GrimmwoodBlack, Arti, Doobz, and Devilyn for keeping me sane with SPEAR. And everyone who has worked with me in creating fun contests or just chatted me up for fun.

I would like to apologize to everyone who thought I was being egocentric. I never meant to irritate you or act like a jerk at times. I used Flare to help the real me be more, outgoing? I guess is the best word? In any case, my only goal was to provide fun contests for you all and to have fun just as Sammel taught me to do. I joined this game because I freakin' love superheroes. Being mightier than normal, beating the bad guys and doing good. I'm old fashioned that way. I also translate that to real life more than I probably should. Be fair. Be honest. Be good. It's not easy, if it was anyone could do it. Take all the morals and the lessons and the seemingly impossible to reach integrity of these fictional characters we've created and make them real inside ourselves. Not just by thinking or talking, but through actions.

My time on this game is going to be significantly less than it has been and I wish everyone luck and safety in their on and offline futures. As some of you know, I'm a huge Superman fan--not because he's the strongest, he isn't. But because he is the hero everyone wants to be. Dreams save us. Dreams lift us up and transform us. And on my soul, I swear... until my dream of a world where dignity, honor and justice becomes the reality we all share. I'll never stop fighting. Ever."

Thanks Flare, for helping and guiding so many of us into the wonderful world of competitive costuming. Despite my use of competitive the CC community is supportive and helpful, always there with a kind word for a costume well done, or with constructive criticism on how to go that extra mile. That the CC Community in CO is like a family has a lot to do with the effort put in by yourself and others in organising these events and keeping them light and friendly.

So, Thanks for the fun CCs and thanks for the hide & seeks (i still dont know where you were hiding some days). Don't be too much of a stranger, the PHT wouldnt be the same without that towering dragon putting us all in the shade.
