Well I can't access my PWE account and I can only log onto the CO account here. And its registered to an email that doesn't exist and refuses to change since it belongs to someone else, yet does not exist in the PWE database.

The fact of the matter is that there has been so little communication (yet again) we have nothing to go on but observing continued unwanted PWE mission-creep re: acquistion and consolidation of Cryptic assets and resources (I'm puttings devs in there as resources btw) to service their titles, and getting very little in return.
h2orat used to be here, Tumerboy used to be here, Poz used to be here, now Robobo has been assimilated by PWE. I'm getting pretty sick of the brain-drain.
A continued strategy I might add that in my opinion has yielded unwanted game-initiatives and done very little since PWE acquisition to expand and develop Champions-Online as a long-term Cryptic project.

Concidering the whole superhero genre is growing massively in pop-culture taking resources away from champions rather than giving it the resources needed to become the cash-cow it can be is just foolishness.

Apparently mine doesn't exist in the pwe database, yet there is a pwe account with my email address. They don't know what they are doing.

What if I don't have a PWE account?

The linking flow will walk you through creating one. Chances are, we've even reserved your account name and @handle.

Is this the reason why no one can get the names they want?

What if I don't want to link?

Account linking will soon be non-optional
. If you have a Cryptic account and link now, you can claim a special item in Star Trek Online. Also, the sooner you link, the better chance you have of getting your preferred account name and display name.

How about a little something for those people playing Champions?

You might want to rename the topic it just comes across a bit bossy . Barking out "Link Your Cryptic and PWE Accounts" aint gonna go down to well . Its a bit dictatorial.

    Try this.

"Can you please link your Cryptic and PWE accounts" <
also notice I removed the unneeded caps.

No it will not. Why are we not being provided with the real reason ? If you don't want to provide an answer to this question, don't. But please don't lie to us.

It probably is more streamlined on their end, even if the advantages aren't visible to us. One login code base to maintain, rather than two (or fourteen) means fewer things that can go wrong.

And things that go more wildly wrong when they do go wrong. One password database for hackers to steal...

Even though i have done this already. But I do agree Cryptic get a back bone don't have this be forced. This would be worst thing you could do without answering our questions first. So hurry for some people the clock is ticking and many are unhappy that they are forced that they have to buy zen to get CP.

So if they find a way to fix this with the Zen crap. I would be into buy CP agian but until then i won't be buying anything and just use my stipend and use the Quest store.

Idunno. I think that's probably the least issue-y part of this.

Honestly, I just wish they'd multiply all current CP values (costs, banked, stipend, etc) by 1.25 to bring the CP 1:1 with both the Zen and the US cent. The current system is clearly designed to obscure the actual cost of things, at least from people used to using US currency.

Congrats PWE. Way to burn every single bridge possible. It's almost as if you really don't want any of us playing anymore at all. And I'll gladly oblige. I'm really sick to death of this nonsense.

And i was stuck with my retarded Cryptic Name for years

so Congrats PWE for giving me back my real Name :p

Honestly .. the biggest dislike for me is to have no Custom Avatars, else i think we will adapt to the ne Forum
after a while. Heck people even post in Blizzard Forums and they are 10 times worse.

Loose all the old posts and guides .. yeah that is also really bad. On the other hand most of them are

Damage done there - I had an account through Steam linked to my e-mail and figured I'd save myself the headache. Though I'm curious why it went with /that/ as a display handle given the one Steam had been using for me since I went through that...

C'est la vie, I suppose. I'm more then willing to put up with it (though I have to admit, I much prefer my current Steam display name and would have found it awesome if it had kept that one), just a somewhat depressing inconvenience.

Ever thought about simply creating a new email account to link a new PWE account to? Use that, then once the account is stable and linked, go into your account settings and switch emails to the one you want?

This is why I have a personal email account, a business account, and a "throw-away" hotmail account.

Regarding people being unable to create new PWE accounts with their desired handle to link to their Cryptic accounts:

    From the FAQ
Q: What do you mean, you've reserved it?
A while back, in preparation for this account linking process, we took all the names in the Cryptic database, and if they were not already in the Perfect World database, we reserved them for use through the linking process. If you login using your Cryptic information and go through the linking flow, you'll be able access that reserved information.

Q: I already created a PWE account and linked it - does this mean I was blocking my own use of my Cryptic handle? Can I have it back?
If you created a PWE account without using hte linking flow, then yes, it's possible you were blocking your use of your own account name/handle. Unfortunately, no. We are not able to change account names or PWE display names.

See, and that's just it. I'm known everywhere as CaptainFabulous. All my games, my Steam profile, a dozen or more websites, Discus, etc. etc. etc. If you see someone by the name CaptainFabulous out there on the interwebs there's a 98% chance it's me. Except in STO, Neverwinter, and soon to be CO, where I have always been known as CaptainFabulous but due to PWE's incompetence or lack of giving a **** I will be known as something different. And that irritates me like poison sumac on my privates.

Doesn't bother me any. Mostly because I don't build much attachment to names. I wish this one had fallen more into my usual theme, but it was created explicitly to avoid that. I can work with and around the issue just fine. S'merely an inconvenience.

Well, to be fair it's in the OP. It just doesn't really stand out because it's one sentence in the middle of the mini FAQ.

Though, honestly, that kind of information should be the first thing in the list, followed by the linking flow, because that's kinda important to know given the consequences.

EXACTLY. The very first time they let us know about merging accounts we should have been told about the name reservation and that we had to follow very specific steps to ensure we'd get to keep our names.

But they didn't. And that's infuriating, especially now that we discover the CO and STO forums are getting dismantled. I could have lived with the other name if it only affected PWE games, cause, well, I don't play any and never intend to. I went a little apeshit when they trashed the Neverwinter forums (and regrettably took it out on a very kind, patient, and shockingly helpful Neverwinter CSR) but said meh, it's a new game, makes sense to start fresh there, and I guess I could learn to live with it.

But to have it also required for CO and STO, and then find out the whole naming problem was created due to their negligence, GRRRRR I'm really feeling constrained right now by forum protocol. I do not have the ability to fully express my anger, outrage, and extreme displeasure with Cryptic and PWE.
