Link Your Cryptic and PWE Accounts

Archived PostArchived Post Posts: 1,156,071 Arc User
edited March 2013 in Champions Online Discussion
We've just launched the new Star Trek Online website, so now's a great chance to link your account to access both PWE and Cryptic options. Linking your accounts will make it faster to log into all your favorite games, and easier to link up with your friends in other games.

Read on below for an overview of how to link accounts and what the benefits are.

How do I link my accounts?

Navigate to https://my.perfectworld.com/sto, and login. This will take you through the linking flow. Be sure to select the correct radio button for your account type.

Why are we linking accounts?

By linking your Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic accounts, you will enjoy a more streamlined process in accessing your information and logging into your favorite games. Doing so will also allow the friends you play with to find you more easily in other titles.

How do I purchase ZEN?

Navigate to our billing page https://billing.perfectworld.com/charge. You'll be able to purchase ZEN in a number of ways, including prepaid ZEN cards, credit cards and PayPal.

How do I transfer ZEN to a server?
When you buy ZEN, it gets added to your wallet, which you can view at https://billing.perfectworld.com/mywallet. From there, you'll be able to select which game, then which server you want to transfer ZEN to.

What if I don't want to link?

Account linking will soon be non-optional. If you have a Cryptic account and link now, you can claim a special item in Star Trek Online. Also, the sooner you link, the better chance you have of getting your preferred account name and display name.

What about my Cryptic Points?

Cryptic points currently on your account will remain on your account - you won't lose them, but you can only use them in Star Trek Online or Champions Online. Once you've linked your account, you can take advantage of the many payment options to purchase Zen.

What if I don't have a PWE account?

The linking flow will walk you through creating one. Chances are, we've even reserved your account name and @handle.

What if I don't have a Cryptic account?

That's okay. When you login to the Star Trek Online or Champions Online website with your PWE account, we'll grant your account the proper credentials to play all Cryptic games. You won't have to do anything except maybe choose an @handle.

Why are the boxes red? It won't let me have my account name/@handle!

Couple things to check:

1. You can't have the same acount name and display name in the PWE system. If yours are the same, decide if you'd rather it be your login or your public name, and pick something else for the one you care less about.

2. If they're not the same, it's possible that one or the other is already taken in the PWE system, and you'll need to select something else.

It won't let me have my email address!

If it says your email address is already in the system, try recovering your PW login name and password here: https://register.perfectworld.com/account/forgotid

What are the Privacy and Data Protection Policies?

The protection of your privacy and personal information is very important to us. Please visit our Privacy Policy page to learn more about how we safeguard your account information.

But I only get 80 CP for every 100 Zen!

The Zen to CP conversion rate is the the same as the cash to CP conversion rate. Zen is $1 : 100 Zen. CP is $1 : 80 CP. You'll receive the same number of CP you always did for the same dollar price.

So, do we get new website and forum also?
And will the change be smooth as in STO?

I've read in the past about a several users, including my guildmates, losing data (i.e. their characters) when they attempted to link accounts. This makes me rather reluctant to try it before I absolutely have to. Can you guarantee that there there will be no such account data losses now?

That is very troubling. I would have a fit if I lost any of my high level toons.

And considering all the problems I am heaeing about the new sto site, Im already hesitant to link until necessary.

You must be confused about the definition of the word "Great" or greatly underestimate our collective IQ, which while I admit, is not very good, isn't quite at the "drooling on ourselves" level of absolute mental failure.

Also, we know. We've kind of been talking about it all day.

Finally, "all [our] favorite games" are not PWI, they are CO, and maybe STO. Maybe. But currently, that's tentative, thanks to this GREAT TIME TO ********.

I know it's not your fault. You're just the poor ******* they threw out to the forums to give the news.

Side note, does anybody else realize how utterly ****tarded that is?

The forum dwellers aren't exactly the uninformed masses, it's usually the same 20 or so of us being bitter at each other every day all day long. We've already been, just ****ed the **** off about this all day, then finally "address" the issue and what do they do?

They toss the schmoe at the lions. Where's all the names? Wheres Robo or Brad? Stormshade? If it's not really going to be "officialized," why even ****ing bother "announcing" some **** we already know.

    Good job Cryptic.

    Good ****ing job.

    Lets discuss!! -

I just did my merge and everything went smooth... though I'll detail my process and some warnings just in case doing something different could get the system to go wonkers:

    1) I created a PWE account, with a completely different account name, display name and email.

    2) This one its important: DONT log into champions online with this account before linking. If you do, it might cause issues, as I've been reading on past forum posts.

    3) I linked my account by logging in into the website with the PWE account.

That's all I did. I just checked, no lost characters, no lost levels, no lost nada this far.

    Hope it helps.

You do realize that the account name and display name will supercede everything here once the migrate the forum and your handle will change in game.

It says someone else already has my display name. Since I participated in the STO beta, the only person that could possibly have my display name is me. What do I do now?

It has nothing to do with beta, since anything PWE is probably older than STO. You have to select something else. Most of us are going to be forced too.

For the record, I've had this account since 2008 and the Lohr over there has had it since only 2011. I think they should get wiped.

Likely, I am aware that could be the case... which for me its fine I don't mind at all. Its not like I was intending superkhandar to be my display name in the first place lol.... I thought that was going to be the name of my hero =p, noob mistake. hahaha.

All went relatively smoothly for me with no losses (characters, etc) other than someone took my original login name (the hidden one only I'm supposed to know...meh it happens) and here I'm SolarDynamo and with PWE I'm Solardynamo.

I can live with a login name change and the loss of a capital letter. Wasn't quite the dooooom I was expecting after reading the forums.

    Just my experience.

I expect a few bumps honestly because of heterogeneous systems involved in any IT structure. It's just a fact of life.

Errm hi there, I maybe a total minority but I absolutely despise Star Trek and am currently subbed to a game called Champions Online. Perhaps you have heard of it!
Is it possible you could make your comments just a teeny bit more relevant to the forum/fanbase that they get posted on.
How do I link my accounts?

    Navigate to https://my.perfectworld.com/sto,
One more time I don't have an STO account, I have a CO account sending me to a page containing only Star **** **** stuff is bound to cause aggro and confusion. Was it really beyond you to do a little thing for CO?

And it's now officially the beginning of the end. And I'll be stuck with my retarded PWE name and 3 years of posting here in CO will be wiped away in one fell swoop.

Congrats PWE. Way to burn every single bridge possible. It's almost as if you really don't want any of us playing anymore at all. And I'll gladly oblige. I'm really sick to death of this nonsense.

I linked my accounts but apparently my PWE account is banned for some unknown reason (I never received an e-mail). I've barely even played any PWE games and I've never been hacked on any other MMO I've played so I know I wasn't hacked. I tried to contact support over a week ago but I still haven't received a response. If this transition happens and my Champions account gets banned I am going to be royally ****ed off.

So I got ****ed and closed the window.

Now it's telling me that there is an account associated with the email I use. But I didn't actually make an account.

When I go to the section where says if you already have an associated email, it says nothing is associated with that email address.

And after 2 weeks of back and forth emails with a PWE Support-Class Hamster who could only respond to me in single sentences they finally wore me down with their inability/lack of desire to actually fix it and I gave up. I mean, why bothering actually having to do your job and fix problems, making your customer happy, when you can just give them the finger and tell them to pick another name? Since the customer has zero recourse (there is no elevation of tickets, no supervisors, no mailing address, no live chat, and no phone support) it's not like they can actually do anything to fight you or even report you, right?

Linking your accounts will make it faster to log into all your favorite games,

You're going to make it quicker for me to log into Guild Wars, Spiral Knights, Uncharted Waters Online, and Europa Universalis II? That's impressive. Especially considering that EU2 is a single player game and there's no need to log in. </sarcasm>

More seriously, did you really have to set up a page that makes you type in a password twice just to see if your name is already taken? And to have some infernal video playing the whole time? Fortunately, I was able to block the video using some browser options. But do you really want to harass people who are trying to register for your games?

    Dear Trailturtle,

Please read and reply to these specific enquiries which I must insist are answered before I accept said PWE account agreement pertaining to Cryptic-Studio's online game 'Champions-Online' and it's official forums.
    I would appreciate it if you would reply to them on this thread and not to either my forum / in-game mail or my registered email address which on disclosure of answers would have me technically violating;
    Posting Private Correspondence
You may not post messages that have been sent or received in private. This includes, but is not limited to:
•PMs received from other users and PWE Staff.
•Correspondence from our Customer Service Department or moderators.
•Discussing disciplinary actions taken against any forum, or game account.

I am requesting this because I believe others would also like clarification. I am also not interested in any potential " oh, but the rule's haven't changed" explanation. If I hadn't flagged this up for clarification by now I should have, irrespective of how long they have been in operation. Thankyou.

PWE may amend these Terms, the Rules of Conduct, and any EULA at any time in our sole discretion. Amendments and modifications will be effective immediately after publishing them on the Website or otherwise providing you a copy thereof, and you waive any right you may have to receive specific notice of such changes or modifications.. You agree to and are responsible for checking this Agreement, the Rules of Conduct and any EULA periodically so you will be familiar with their contents as they may be amended or modified from time to time. By continuing to use any portion of the Service, you are signifying your acceptance of any revised or updated terms. . If you do not agree to the amended terms, you must stop using the Service.

If you amend the terms, rules of conduct and/or EULA - I'm pretty sure you are legally bound to give us an opportunity before the amendment's enforcement to either accept or refuse the new terms.
Sneaking in such a universal waiver into the smallprint?... unacceptable!.
    Please clarify.

Your Account may be deactivated if you do not use your Account within twelve months after the date that it was created or for any continuous period of twelve months after creation. If you do not use your Account for twelve or more months, it may be removed and deleted by the Website administrator at their sole discretion. We will endeavor to use reasonable efforts to notify you by e-mail before we delete your Account, unless we are deleting your User ID for a violation of these terms or discontinuation of the Service. However, we will not be liable in any manner for any failure to give notice. If you advise us within five days of the notice that you want to keep your Account active, we will not delete it. If you do not so notify us, your Account may be permanently deleted, along with your User ID, records, ranks and service information. Please note that regardless of any notice, PWE reserves the right to discontinue the Service or to terminate or suspend your account at any time in its sole discretion for any reason, or for no reason.

And thats Illegal right there. I have paid for a lifetime account. You WILL be keeping my account open and available at all times and are in no way authorised to delete any of my data.
    Please explain.

You understand and agree that when you communicate with other players within a game or utilize any interactive features available on the Website, such as instant messaging, forums or chat rooms, such communications and postings are transmitted through our servers, and we may, but are not obligated to, monitor all such communications and postings, including those that are designated as "private." You acknowledge that you have no expectation of privacy with respect to any such communications or postings, and you expressly consent to such monitoring.

So essentially thats carte blanche to rifle through our personal email without consent. Nice! (but not entirely surprising).

PWE MAY SUSPEND, TERMINATE, MODIFY, BLOCK ACCESS TO OR DELETE THE SERVICE OR ANY ACCOUNT AT ANY TIME WITH OR WITHOUT REASON, WITH OR WITHOUT NOTICE.

PWE may at its option issue warnings and temporary suspensions and permanent terminations of Accounts for user violations. Can we get some official confirmation that this actually applies to Champions Online?
    What about my Cryptic Points?

Cryptic points currently on your account will remain on your account - you won't lose them, but you can only use them in Star Trek Online or Champions Online. Once you've linked your account, you can take advantage of the many payment options to purchase Zen.

Will subscribers (including LTS) continue to receive their stipends as usual?

I just heard back from support. (faster than the 3-4 days... Was actually just a few hours)

They can indeed not help me with my issue of having a rather bad forum handle so... I quit.
I wont be able to sustain myself on simply the in game community.

I actually think it's from me attempting to register, cause it was there right before I tried
    .

Yeah, I thought the same thing -- how could the name be used when it was free the first time. I wish I had an answer for you but the rep I had refused to answer any of my questions and just repeatedly told me I had to pick a new name.

Speaking of which, I just remembered I have another open ticket with PWE that has gone unanswered for a week. I dunno which is worse, completely ignoring a ticket or giving you one ******** response after another for 2 weeks? Hard to decide...

Soooooo. If I'm using a messenger to talk to people in game (like pidgin) how will merging affect me? What will I have to change around?

...will it even work? I've heard conflicting info on this.
