I know. And like i'm ever going to play any of PW titles anyway.
...
I've played a few. They're not that bad, actually, though very indicative of the Asian MMO market set. The fact a few of them are interlinked with Steam as of late helps.

The really best thing was the facial editor in the original Perfect World game for me. I never understood why
they didn't used that one in later games, and instead put in just some generic faces

Oddly, PW is the only one I haven't tried out. Torchlight (have II preordered already and I'm just waiting for them to tell me 'Go'), Jade Dynasty (OH MY GOD SO LONG AGO), and Forsaken World are the only ones I've gotten experience with so far.
They were all pretty good in their own rights. I suppose I should go through at some point and play some of the other ones (if just to try and cure my current gaming apathy - nothing makes your current roster of games look better then time apart for a bit).
If you preorder Torchlight II thru PWE you get guaranteed access to the Neverwinter beta, so I opted for that as opposed to ordering it thru Steam. This is the closest I've ever come to playing a PWE game. And I don't see that changing anytime soon. This company rubs me the wrong way so badly I have brush burn.
I heard from a friend but that they had previouly had a sub in CO, cancelled it went back to silver then several months later after linking accounts went in and got a sub in STO and now they can access their gold toons in CO where they don't have a sub. I was just wondering if anybody knew of any changes like this for both games since linking them with PWE and if someone gets a lifetime in one, would that mean they have the lifetime in the other game as well
wow. This is so, so sad. Watching you guys "fix" things is like watching dominoes fall. I'm just trying to make sense of this: You just do not have the money to spend on providing decent security, so you block all those costing you money. Assuming you're not all idiots, you calculated that the amount of money you lose would be less then the amount you'd gain over time.
Discrimination of entire regions due to the actions of a few, in order to save money through a perverse method of justice exemplifying greed, pride, and wrath.
I hear Dr. Destroyer is looking for allies,-- PWE should hit him up sometime. As for Cryptic, I'd love to hear them stand up for what's right by standing up against this move.

THIS
I still can't convert my account to PWE, and I honestly don't feel like I care about STO or CO anymore. All I care about doing now is logging in to get my character bios copied. I'll play CO till it gets PWnd, but after that, I guess I'll go back to Baldur's Gate and finally get around to investing in a PS3.
Welp, website integration is happening this Thursday. Guess this will solve all the complaints about this screwing over banned region customers because WE'LL BE BANNED FROM POSTING..
I begging you, Cryptic, give us answer! Can we have PWE acc somehow?!
i don't wanna be banned after year in this game!
please. please, oh god, please....

I've attempted PWE integration only to have it conk out at the last step. Not really interested in putting up with their ******** any more. I'll continue playing in-game for as long as feasibly possible.
Strange stuffy what happend with your stuf and such if i may ask?
I tried linking about a week ago, and the registration went through alright, but I did not receive the confirmation and (presumably) the activation e-mail. I've checked all the whitelists on my mail server and they all seem alright. A second attempt earlier today has basically forced me to use a different e-mail address, different user handle etc. I'm now waiting for that confirmation e-mail, but judging from last time I don't hold much hope of it working correctly. We'll see.

I did the linking today and it worked, but there was no confirmation mail or anything on the web page that said "linking successful" or something similar.

We should not allow Cryptic/PWE to think that this is acceptable.
Honestly I don't necessarily expect anything to come of it, but I am forwarding as much information on this blatant example of internet fraud (sell lifetime product on Wednesday, cancel access on Thursday) to the Santa Clara County (where Cryptic is located) District Attorney's office, "Internet Fraud Complaint Center," which is in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
I highly suggest that others make an effort to do so as well. Tel your friends. Send in as many complaints as possible. Remember that though PWE may be behind this, "scam," Cryptic is implementing it and is headquartered in one of the most consumer friendly areas of the United States.
Edit: Just found out that PWE is headquartered less than 50 miles from Cryptic. Both are in the South San Francisco Bay Area.

Best of luck, everyone that can get behind this. I'm not a resident of the U.S., so it's not much use for me to participate, but you have my support anyway.
Why? Because what they're doing isn't RIGHT. I don't especially care about the legality of the matter, but ethically it's reprehensible and I hope they do get slapped with a big fraud lawsuit - or better yet, are forced to remove their silly region blocks.
(Man, what has this game become when I - I! - feel the need to write such a thing?).

"Welcome" to reality.
I wish your optimism had paid... but sadly us doomsayers are (too) often right.
(I don't thank Crypt-PWE for it, I so wish I had been wrong)

Actually you can. If you have a grievance with a US based company (or one that works in the US) you can file a suit or complaint in the state where the company is located, and, I'm pretty sure, Federal Court, so you can totally be of use.
Hah, you know what the funny thing is? I wasn't going to go to the IFCC to this (BBB was more likely), but once this merge goes through, all of the posts will be by "Archived Post".
Can't really prove Cryptic knew about this issue when everything prior to today is posted by some guy named "Archived Post" who doesn't even have an official title.

Screenshot the crap out of everything before the change.
Don't go through the BBB. They're a voluntary mediation group at the best of times and just a racket at worst. The IFCC (now IC3, apparently) is a joint venture with the FBI so there's actual legal authority involved.
And linked, which doesn't seem to be that much of a hassle, though i have been playing perfect world for a short while so it was easy to integrate both accounts into one. So far so good, just going to see after the game patches on how that works if everything is all good. I was able to get back to this website with my pwe credentials for my account here so i guess things will be ok. If they allow the purchasing of zen via store, wondering if we should be allowed to keep subs then or use them as a prepay cards and they take the balance from zen then? i'm just wondering how that will work with the full merge.
Edit: Here's a thought too, now that we have it merged, what will happen to the stipend for LTS and golds? Will we still be getting that in zen now?
Just a little note, STO devs have enabled custom avatars again over there. I can only assume that means that the same will be available to Champions after the switchover. (80x80 for those planning ahead).

DISCLAIMER: Not a complaint!
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, if we get to keep custom avatars, why bother to change their size?
Conformation to current PWI formats?

The whole contention over this switchover seems to be about "conformity" versus "individual expression". PW wants the former, and we want the latter.
From what I've heard and seen, all of PW's game forums seems to be running identical setups of the same forum software. They all seem to be running the same "theme", but with different graphics and colors that all fit in the same layout. Since all these forums run on the same server, using the same back-ground tech, same scripted processes, etc, making one forum different "just because the users want it" is difficult to justify at the corporate level.
Brandon's explanation over at STO for the icon size, is that changing the size made the site layout "get pushed around".. meaning that for whatever reason, some parts of the html/css are hardcoded with the expectation that the icons will always be the size of the default icons. (I'm guessing that box up top that says "Edit your avatar" or "log in" next to the ever-present banner ad advertizing "ZEN" might be the culprit.)
Screwing up the appearance of the site design is something I'm sure that corporate is not willing to allow. At the same time, I'm fairly sure that IT is unwilling to let the site have it's own customized CSS framework. So basically it's "between a rock and a hard place".
In my opinion the bone of contention was the loss of forum individuality. If a slightly smaller avatar is teh compromise needed to achieve both the users' and the owners' needs in this matter, I cannot complain.
I avoided issues on STO but looks like I'm set to 0 Days played on CO after their merger here... God help them if I log in today and have no C-Points after amassing nearly 4000+ over the last couple months of Questonite grinding and stipends...

 holy crap. If that kind of quality gets moved to CO, then we might be forgiving of them after all...

Fear not I will ***** for you. Because.....
Just noticed: PWE is blocked by the proxy, so no more Forums for me...

Good show Ashen.
Will be looking into this.

Well, if you believe that you're defrauded by PWE, maybe you can also try the IC3 (Internet Crime Complaint Center): http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

The combat just sucks so bad......
I'm gonna give it another day's playthrough and see if I change my mind, because I'm torn between lifetime and cancelation.

LOL, I havent heard that joke (or its punchline) in ages.

....Personally I would prefer the sizes be bumped up to 150x150, but hey, that's just me.

That we get custom avatars at all is a wonderful thing. 80x80 really isn't that much smaller. http://i50.tinypic.com/zj6t0j.png
I ersonally like 120 x 100 .. so a little more height than width .. but however .. 80 x 80 is at least much better
than just having generic avatars
Wow, i can't believe you went through all that effort to explain what i was trying to do with one sentence
Seriously, TY
I knew the answer, i was just being a smart ****
I do believe that's MY job...
