I wish I could have scarves with everything... unfortunately that's not possible. Or having boots over pants. Or the Talisman over any chest wear The list goes on...
I could really use the scarf on a few armor pieces for that cool anime swords man. There are many other combos that not only myself, but other players could benefit from.

I would love to have the scarf available for chest wear.
My character, Rider 00, is a tribute to the Kamen Rider series and yet he lacks the classic scarf worn by most older Kamen Riders. Makes me a sad panda.
Please please please do this I've been doing a good few costume revamps this weather and I keep running into issues where a costume piece X cant be had because I have option Y selected .
A prime example the stitched tights pattern can't be used with medium or long skirts. I can for the life of me thing of no reason why that should be the case.
Also for the love of god just combine the hand/short gloves options with the long glove options it would open up so much more choice.
I really can't see the reason for the headwear limitations on "Collars & Short Hair" category. Collars do not clip with helmets nor face masks or anything else except for long hair, which is notably excluded. Can we get the full range of face masks, hats, and helmets to go with collars?
EDIT: The Army Helmets and maybe a few more with significantly wide and low side flaps (such as Crown Tribal) might clip, but most don't. The Traffic Cone, Witch Hat, Brain Dome, Crown of Edom, and all the Cowboy Hats don't seem they would have an issue.
Agreed that most the headwear options won't clip or be very prominent if we're allowed to have them as options with all hairstyles.
I also believe we should have access to more patterns on various costume pieces, and females should be able to wear tattoos without having to choose between hideous bikini top #2, or a full tank top. I realize there's a difference between barechested men and women that might get us in trouble with ratings or what have you, but there's GOT to be a way to let us layer tattoos with whatever shirt, etc. we want while still keeping the not-M rating.
Also, give us more pattern options for currently solid-colored costume pieces, to help us better match them to existing patterns on other pieces (for example the new Tubetop, which doesn't allow for patterns to carry over should we want to use it for a bodysuit).
Signed signed signed signed. I love the creative license you get from exploring the entire costume space - a check box to remove conflicting costume pieces, right down at the bottom next to the "remove unavailable costume pieces" check box would be perfect. Leave it checked by default, and have it persist so we don't have to keep unchecking it. While you're in there, store our preference for showing or hiding unpurchased pieces, too.
I agree with the suggestion of a checkbox we can click to acknowledge that we might see clipping with some combinations to unlock all items so we can try out sets for ourselves. There's just so many ideas left out by the current setup just because some items clip. And really at the moment all capes seem determined to clip through the legs whenever possible anyway.
Too many times, I've been foiled in a costume concept by the limitations of the builder...
And on that note, why can't we have separate sliders for left and right limb proportions? I'd love to be able to have costumes with a giant robot arm on one side, and a normal arm on the other, or one limb looking wasted and thin.
I absolutely agree.
Some combinations produce clipping errors even now, so the restriction doesn't even do anything at the moment but restrict creativity.
I wanted to build a "Voodoo using guy" build around the LOA NPC costume in Vibora Bay.
They use the skeleton bodypaint with a Jacket, a Trenchcoat precisely. I absolutely loved the idea, only to find out it doesn't work with my charakter -.-
Tired of Integrated shoulders removing nearly every possible shoulder armor options except for things that DO CLIP, just let me have the choice as to what to put on my hero
Hoods on Bestial Heads, Skirts and pants on Bestial Legs, ALL Arm accessories chest pieces on Mechanical Arms... The list goes on... There are a lot of things that we are restricted from for no good reason.
I think the excuse that someone might make a horribly clipped costume and then point to it as an example of poor design on the part of the game is ridiculous. I work with 3d graphics programs where I can make all manner of poorly scaled clipping nightmares, and post them all over the net, and while they provide tools to help an artist avoid clipping, they don't restrict the possibilities of the program just to avoid it nor do they care that some users pictures aren't necessarily the best examples of the capabilities of the program.
I figure it'd be simple enough to make it a hidden option, perhaps a command line thing that would keep the majority of players from bothering but allow those of us who are a bit more daring to create more interesting combinations
I think this is an amazing idea, with no restrictions on what can go with what, it'll give us all much more customization on our characters, so we can have a wolf with a helmet if we want

It could open up a lot of possibilites...as long as it's available as some sort of checkbox, in order to see whether you want that option "on" over a particular section or not.
Upon redesigning my Grimiore's costume today I once again am reminded just how annoying these costume restrictions are. She's a Bestial hero so naturally I used the Bestial legs with her. Not only am I restricted from more than 90% of the hip wear, I am also restricted from Skirts, Pants, and at least half of the Tights patterns.
I wanted to give her the Waist Cape to complete her look but no... Waist Cape is a Medium Skirt and can't be worn with Bestial Legs... I could live with the normal legs if only I were permitted to use the Wolf Long feet with them but nope those are restricted to Bestial Only.
I honestly see no reason why we couldn't use short or medium skirts with Bestial Legs, absolutely none at all as to why we can't use the Waist Cape with them. I don't even see the reasoning behind restricting the hip wear on them. There's no clipping issues even possible with any of those combinations. Long Skirts I can understand to a point... that point being all but Fantasy Skirt, to be honest I don't know why it's under Long Skirts, it is more of a Medium Skirt. The rest of Long Skirts can remain restricted from Bestial and still work for Bestial heroes by simply increasing the feet/boots permitted to be used with them and include Wolf Long in that list. Long Skirts are typically loose enough to hide the digigrad design of Bestial Legs, however they all seem to stop above the ankles so a hero with Wolf feet has this hideous line along their ankles, something that inclusion of Wolf Long would solve.
I'd say the absurd costume part restrictions speak more for poor design than any clipping monstrosity ever could.
Also... why are so many Leg Accessories restricted with Skirts? I wanted to wear the Rock Leg Accessories with the Waist Cape on one of my other heroes but I can't... As removal of the rocks was more detrimental to her concept than losing the skirt was I'm forced to eighty-six the waist cape on her transformation... (to explain, I build my costumes with RP elements in mind, so generally they look the same just with certain elements changed based on the concept or situation. So going from one costume with the waist cape into another via a transformation and suddenly losing the skirt but keeping all other parts seems a bit lackluster. However her costume feels incomplete without the waist cape so this puts me in a major bind)
I'm shocked this hasn't happened yet honestly... The Dev post is dated back in March.... here it is August now... still no progress on this... What is the hold up?

Yeah, and the thing about it is... this isn't even the first time this has come up. This just happens to be the most popular thread on this issue, and the one with the best written, most detailed and complete OP. The issue itself (as far as I know) has been around since launch.
/sign this so hard the force and pressure causes a collapse creating a singularity so fierce it's pulled future and past Me's from all possible timelines to sign it again.

Holy Fluff!! I think I just fell into a black hole......
Ran across this again yesterday you can't use the bracers from daemon flame if you have robot arms also the number of accessories available under the bubble helmets seem a bit sparse.
Why is it that so many of the insect costume pieces can't be used when making a female character? Here's the list of ones I've found so far that can't be used on a female hero:
Chest Wear - Armor Heavy Carapace
Insect Head; Eye Accessory - Large Eyes, Goggles Insect, Goggles Insect 2
Top Accessory - Insect Antenna Backward
Also, why is there no "Alien 2 Fingers" option for "Hands & Short Gloves"? Currently this piece can't be used at the same time as the matching bracer piece "Deco". (The armor on the hand piece can't be given the metal texture separately from the hands, by the way.) It is also impossible to use the Chiton Crests back piece with the Armor Heavy Carapace chest wear, even though those are both used at the same time on various NPCs.
I can't make my renegade Qularr queen character unless this is changed, which makes me rather sad.
EDIT: Also, while I love the new range of Gadgeteering weapon skins you can use, I wish you could still also have the choice of using any of the munitions weapon skins for the corresponding weapon type like pistols. Why can't I make a character that uses Alien Organic Pistol, Pulson RF Pistol, or VIPER VL-S1 Redeye pistol rayguns? I fear this is barely on topic, however.
At the very least, I'd like to see the cases where there is no chance of clipping adressed. What springs to mind is emblems. You can use normal emblems (the flat ones) are available in every chest tab, except chest wear. Why? It makes no sense, the emblems can not clip with any of the chest pieces, it simply can not happen.
Why is it that emblems are avilable in every other tab but not chest wear? Robot arms allows you to mix emblems with chest pieces, why should I have to put on a robot arm for no reason just to have suspenders on my costume without losing the emblem?

cant tell you how many times I have been disappointed by a costume piece I couldnt use with a outfit I had made up.

There's so much clipping in there already, some of it on pieces I've paid for - I can't see why we shouldn't be allowed to get to the rest of it
Especially open up the long gloves with jackets. It's weird as heck that we can't wear some of those hands with jackets.
So much stuff I could do...

I totally agree with everything in the OP. We are the ones making the costumes, let us decide what to do about clipping.

Make the good costumes great and the bad ones hilarious.
