Yesssssss. The restrictions that exist are inconsistent and frustrating, and honestly I didn't even know some of the pieces even existed because they're disabled so often.

Big fat approval for this. I see people with costumes that look like a dog's dinner all of the time even with these restrictions. Nothing's gained by having them.

I want my long hair and witches hat god damnit.

Maybe we could have a SUGGESTION FEEDBACK of some sort. I know that these message boards say "No-No-No" to Dev's replying to any suggestion thread- But WE, the players give a frack about this game. and maybe it would be nice to know that IDEA number 137 is "Yes-Yes-Yes".

it would also be nice to know if this game has plans to implement X, Y, Z, suggestions that we all have been asking for. I don't know how many of us have asked for shields, for example. if it isn't possible- I would like to know. If it is then I would stay even if you don't do it right away. as it is, I am going to unsub after heavy weapons...
    WHY?
based on the rate and length of time it takes for something really solid to hit the gold side of this game, I might not be back for a *REALLY, LONG, TIME* if at all. I may be one person and that is no big loss., but how many more quit for similar reasons, "Game is dead, Game isn't growing, Game isn't changing"...

on the other hand, More updates that aren't simply making a gold item availiable for purchase on the silver side, would actually interest me, a gold player in staying.

I'm currently playing a voodoo themed character, and so it's natural for him to wear tons of stuff like pouches for reagents, magical amulets, tattoos and other stuff like that. The current restrictions are limiting me a bit more than i would like. The character still looks awesome, but I know of so many things I could do to make him look even more awesome, I've looked at the pieces I have in mind and while some of them would clip a tiny bit, most of them won't clip at all.

I don't do magic based characters often, but when i do I like to add all kinds of stuff to them, to make them seem as if they've travelled the world for some time, collecting various artifacts to boost their powers. I spend maybe 50% or more of my playtime in the costume editor, now imagine if I could do all these costume ideas I have, think of the costume slots I would buy. Would you not want me to pay you more money and enjoy the game more as an added bonus?

Completely agreed. Let us police our own clipping. I don't want my costumes to look horrible because of some clipping effect that causes that, so I'll fix it and not complain. On the other hand, the creative release that I would have from getting unlimited mix and match in the CC would be incredibly worth filtering through the bad clipping pieces here and there.

    Do it already!!

On top of all that... One of my biggest complaints is that I can't use my waist cape with a LOT of costume options because of the way the menus are constructed. Say I want Beast Legs, and I want to drape the cape...oh wait, it's a SKIRT.

Though that is one of those things that may be harder to fix than simply blanket removing restrictions. Still, it seems to me that there's a more elegant solution particularly to the Legs menus in general.

So I like the partial werewolf head you get for the Death Dealer perk. Issue?

It only works in the Heads and Hairs section. How hats, collars, half-helmets, or hoods clip with it, I haven't the foggiest. This lil fix would solve a multitude of issues, like the one I just stated, that seriously makes little to no sense.

I'll bring an example of needless costume restrictions as well.

For some reason we can't use the vine bracers with integrated shoulder chest pieces. Its kind of ridiculous seeing how almost every other bracer is available with integrated shoulder chest pieces.

Definately would like less restrictions on combos! So frustrating when you change a piece and something disappears, or a particluar item is mysteriously not available !

I like to think we're smart enough to figure out if something doesn't look good. Besides, many already available pieces clip as it is, and other people have made horrendous costumes despite the limits in the editor. Why not just remove them and let the rest of us benefit? Don't let a few jerks ruin everyone else's design potential.

    Ditto, and Ditto.

    Side note:

Has anyone ever asked why the tech for...

"You need to buy <INSERT COSTUME PACK HERE> to use this piece."

    ...hasn't been applied to...

"Warning!: Using this costume piece may produce 'clipping' on other costume pieces!"

...So that we can access ALL costume pieces with full knowledge that it will produce clipping?

You mean like this that I can do right now?

    http://s999.photobucket.com/albums/af113/Destructor646/CO/?action=view&current=CostumeBug1.jpg

Not only does the Urban Shirt allow you to use loads of Arm options that poke through (like the Arcane pieces shown in the picture), but the shirt itself is poorly designed showing your skin (or whatever is underneath the shirt) all the time.

The devs may hate seeing glitches like this, but they're all over the place. Why we, the player, should have control over this.

That is true. Costumes can be clipped and bugged in any number of ways. And don't even let me start with how outright silly you look when you have all 4 possible capes on flapping in the wind at once.

Why can't I wear a wrestling championship belt with robotic arms? It makes no sense, and makes part of the reason for pve kind of pointless if you have a robotic-type character, doesn't it? Please, please, please make this change, it will make all players happier and can only improve the game.

Yes! There's LOTS of leg accessories that should work well and without any clipping with waist capes, or even most of the other medium skirts. In fact, I don't think ANY of the current ones would clip with the waist cape.

I have a couple of costumes that work quite well because of "clipping issues."

The Devs should let us decide what does and doesn't work for our costumes. As long as they are upfront about the decision, making a well-reasoned argument why the restrictions are being removed, I believe most players of CO will embrace the change. And for that will complain I'll just quote Buffy: "The rest is just noise."

Diddent read all of the thing here but if someone allready suggested it thats why.

If they dont wanna do it because of not wanting bug reports.
they could add a check box in the bottom of the Tailor - "check here if you wanna ignore clipping"

What I don't quite get is that the devs are apparently perfectly happy with severe glitches such as this 'underboob' on a PURCHASED costume set:

    http://i999.photobucket.com/albums/af113/Destructor646/CO/CostumeBug1.jpg

(sliders shown to show that there's nothing absurd selected - look and see the skin showing where the arm meets the chest, and ignore the armbands clipping into the shirt)

and yet they won't do something that would increase our costume options drastically further.

    {kicks the thread up to the top and wishes that we still had ACTION LINES!}

    Ahem. That, is sideboob.

    5. Sometimes clipping produces an effect we like, and sometimes we think a tiny bit of clipping is acceptable to get the look we want.

"Oh, whoa, that necklace clips right through that armor piece... wait... now it looks like the jewel is directly embedded in the plate mail. Awesome!"

"This armor kind of clips with the back rifle a bit, but it still looks okay."

Sometimes clipping is a happy surprise for us instead of a mild disappointment. Let us find more of those! Other times it just really doesn't look THAT bad or it doesn't bother us that much compared to getting the look we want. Let us do that if we want to, it's our character, we have to stare at it all the time, not you.

Thats exactly what i do with my Dark Knight armor and Helm!

    screenshot2011052021034.jpg

The arcane necklace give a large gemme on the forehead of my skull chest armor, while the arcane jewel and another top headt accesory forms like a little dragon with glowing eyes!!!

main reason is some of the combinations that cant be used together are just plain absurd, and proven absurd by changing certain variables, suddenly allow them to work together.

Example: Belts option get removed If you also set Hip wear option.... Yet if you choose Robotic Legs, which comes with the hip wear option, suddenly you can also choose a belt!!!

    or

Integrated shoulders, has only a few options to choose from to add shoulder pieces... Yet most of those shoulder options don't even fit the integrated shoulders properly..

I don't understand why City of Heroes/Villains allows for more detailed character customization then Champs does, when both games have practically the same exact costume pieces..

Example... City of Heroes/Villains, you can select Jacket, and then have the option to customize sleeves... (none, torn, full, rolled, left and right) Yet in champs you choose a jacket and are stuck with the full version of it
