In hindsight it would've been better to just post it in here since im looking for thoughts and suggestions on it, so please fire away if you get a chance.
Oh, kind of a belated question, but who is Viper and why is he doing experiments?
In the Champions Universe, VIPER is a world-wide super-criminal/ terrorist organization with the ultimate goal of world domination. Think HYDRA from Marvel Comics or COBRA from G.I. Joe, only bigger, more competent, and more insidious. VIPER pursues the accumulation of power in all its forms -- military, political, financial, and technological. Its research branch and many of its individual cells (called "Nests") are constantly conducting diverse experiments in weapons development, superhuman creation, and the like.
Yea what Lord Liaden said. Sorry I didn't get back in time to post sooner.
Viper has a long history as LL hinted. They started off as sorta the whipping boys, ie the heroes trashed them until they got some experience under their belts and then went off to bigger villains. But they always had schemes going, even franchised out Nests. So bug areas might even have 2 or more Nests working completely independent of each other. And they were big on making new villains thru whatever means they could come up with. IE grab some guy off the street, shoot up full of mutagenic drugs and then toss him into a nuclear reactor to see what happens. Usually wind up with fried guy off the street but hey one day it might work!!!
Now once they came out with the 5 Teams, they were serious business. Think villain SWAT teams complete with special equipment. Like a heavy weapons guy with a HUGE Blaster, or Net guns etc.
Thing to remember is make the hero you want and that you think you will have fun trying to RP. Also remember it's completely normal, especially when you are first starting out, for you to change your mind midstream. And characters evolve. As you mentioned being arrogant to start, maybe have him keep a bit of that and lose it as he sees more of the world.
The biggest thing is never take someone's advice if it doesn't feel right. Not that I think anyone here is pushy, just stating it as a rhetorical piece of advice.
In hindsight it would've been better to just post it in here since im looking for thoughts and suggestions on it, so please fire away if you get a chance.
Nice setup, especially for something you just "tossed off"
I like the idea for his origin. Fits nicely with a Munitions/Gadgets character and explains why he is able to handle super level threats.
Not to sure on the part about UNTIL recruiting him as a agent who then roams around free. Especially just giving him custom equipment etc. I know you said he was still subject orders etc. I think a better idea (just my opinion mind you) would be for him to have spent some time as a agent in the field, maybe a promotion to squad leader etc. Then when his tour of duty was up, he decided to go solo if you will, and thus is a free agent with good contacts at UNTIL and always willing to help them out. This way he could still get info from them and maybe even acquire new equipment from them. Free lance field tester maybe
Right yeah, i wasn't sure about the UNTIL thing either, thanks for the feedback. I think i'll incorporate the "was an agent, but is now solo with good contacts" idea, thanks for that...works a lot better:)...and i think i'm going to go with the name Warrant, just because i dont think he carries enough munitions to really carry a codename of Arsenal, lol

Glad to be of some help Always a help to bounce things off of other people....
As to the name, it could have been a codename he had on a mission that stuck, and now he uses it as a "super" name. Arsenal that is, but Warrant works too
I think I could use some help trying to tie all my characters together in a more comprehensible way. As it is, it is all kind of vague, and I'm not sure how well they fit as a story whole.
Devil Squid: I've already gone over this character on this thread. Vague mysterious lab accident grants Larry Talbin cephalopod powers. He decides to play hero for a night as a joke, ends up learning a few things and decides to become a real hero.
Tendril and Devil Medusa: About a year later Larry's cousin (still working on 'real name' for him, villain name is Tendril) and the cousin's adoptive sister Harriet get in their own science/lab accident (possibly accident, not 100% sure) that grants them the powers of jellyfish (stinging/venomous tendrils, enhanced balance, regeneration). Also, they lose their parents to crime somehow (possibly related to the whole lab thing). Tendril becomes a vengeance seeking vigilante. His heart gone cold, he doesn't care if innocent lives get lost in his search for revenge. He is ultimately killed by Larry in a final battle to save the town. Shortly after, Harriet becomes Devil Medusa to make up for the sins of her departed adoptive brother.
Steel Nautilus: The son of Doc (Larry's medical ally/doctor), Albert (a mechanic) decides to become an armored hero.
That's pretty much it. I try to stick with the whole lab/genetic/tech based angle because mystic/magic/alien origins don't really fit the whole story world I'm trying to create. I also tend to steer away from the mutant and super soldier origins since I think they're overused (and just 'being born with it' always seemed like cheating to me).
Advice on how to polish it up a little would be welcomed.

Hmm my first thought was that Medusa (unless you are attached to the Devil part) could be a great Nemesis for Devil Squid. IE after the accident she decides to go home and try to make a real life for herself, and after her brother gets killed she starts hunting DS for revenge. Just a thought...
As to tying them all in, except for the adoptive sister, I was thinking that maybe they discover Grandpa was a aquatic hero back in WW2 or some such. Or even just a "normal" hero, thinking Golden Age heroes who weren't as flashy or powerful as today's heroes. Early mutations not as developed etc. So when they are exposed to lab accidents etc, the latent mutations spring forth and adapt themselves to the DNA etc. If you make adopted sister a distant relative (assuming you want to work the adoption angle some how) that would still work as long as she was a blood relation to the ancestor with the powers....
As to the armored guy, he could be inspired to do more than just fix the Squid Mobile I see him as an alt. A character who isn't as high level as the main. Would also provide a angle to get him an invite to your main's SG since your main could vouch for him in a RP session or it could be assumed to have happened. You know what I mean
Soooo I'm working on Sky Ranger's origin story (shameless plug: check my sig), and part 2 is focused mainly on his Nemesis... I've got a solid concept of what I want him to be like, just not too sure how to get there.
How plausible is it that, looking for a new ally, some of M City's local mid-power villains (not talking a mastermind, but someone with resources), would restore a stranger to health and equip them with some sci-fi gear (i.e: a jetpack and some guns)?
Failing that, how dumb are the street-level cops in M City? Do they have a policy of pursuing vigilante or rogue style heroes? What sort of resources would they have access to?
And if all else fails, a remarkably resilient individual drops out of the sky and gets hurt pretty bad. Somehow he survives, but realizes he needs to be better equipped before he can go after his nemesis. How might said individual acquire some high-tech gear?

IMO that's a distinct possibility. What I'm thinking is that Kevin Poe, youthful genius leader of the up-and-coming street gang known as the New Purple Gang, might welcome a new ally with useful skills in his war with the powerful organization of mentalists called PSI.

According to the Millennium City sourcebook from the PnP game, the current MCPD chief is a by-the-book type who doesn't cut unsanctioned independent "heroes" much slack (although the average cop on the street may have a more respectful attitude toward them), and would treat violent vigilantes as criminals and pursue them as such. The MCPD includes a specially trained and equipped Metahuman Activities Response Squad (MARS) for dealing with super-powered criminals.
And if all else fails, a remarkably resilient individual drops out of the sky and gets hurt pretty bad. Somehow he survives, but realizes he needs to be better equipped before he can go after his nemesis. How might said individual acquire some high-tech gear?
Please help! Thanks in advance!
Millennium City is home to one of the underworld's premiere high-tech armorers, Wayland Talos. Talos hates superheroes, and gladly sells his services to anyone likely to fight them. If a prospective villain gets in good with the New Purple Gang as described above, Kevin Poe might very well bankroll some "upgrades" for him via Wayland Talos.
I hope that helps. If you need some more details about any of these elements, I'll offer what I can without infringing on Cryptic Studios' IP; but Millennium City is still the best source for these elements of the setting.

Now that it has penetrated that you are talking about your nemesis needing equipment, I am tracking. For a minute there I was trying to reconcile your hero with the villain angle.
That said, I don't think a villain would just hand equipment over to a stranger, even if they guy was villainous in nature, he might just run off with it. That said, nothing stopping him from recruiting a stranger into his gang and one thing leads to another. The sheriff sounds like a guy who adapts to his situation, and has flexible morals as well, so he could easily become an enforcer for a local gang and thus get eq upgrades as LL said. While he's doing this, SR is off getting established and making a name for himself. Perhaps he was thought to be dead, and it isn't till much later that his nemesis realizes he is alive and starts hunting him.
Remember your hero may have a long history behind him, but he is not equipped for the modern era, so he would need time to update his equipment etc. During this time his Nemesis to be could be making a gang of his own. This would give him a way to fund his own armory purchases as well as have minions.
Hope that is coherent and at least somewhat thought provoking
This is my first attempt at a background story. Any help or comments is appreciated. Thanks
So this is my story. My name is Venson Monroe. Im a crack baby from the slums of New York. Maybe thats why all this happened to me. Most crack babies get disabilities I got superpowers. Imagine that. But thats for later in this story.
My mom died giving birth to me. No one I can find knew anything about her. All Roger knows about her is her name, Trinity. Roger is my father but he was never my dad. It always ticked him off that I refused to call him that. But that was his fault. Before I killed him that is. Sorry Im ahead of my story once again. Im not very good at this story telling business, but UNTIL wants my story for record so whatever.
Anyway, I was always in trouble at school. I never got good grades. I was in fights a lot and suspended quite a bit. Its not that I was stupid in the slightest. On the contrary, everything in school was always incredibly simple for me. Back before Roger started drinking and my life was on a better path he had me take a placement test. I placed well above any college level intellect. Oh and I was six. For one reason or another Roger never applied or encouraged my learning career in any direction. Maybe that was when he started shooting up and getting drunk. And when he stopped caring about anything at all. Either way I continued on in regular school but never caring about schoolwork. It was all too simple and boring.
My biggest problem came from being quite hot headed. Anytime a classmate would say something that ticked me off theyd get quite the beat down. My powers never manifested themselves until later but I was always more athletic and stronger then the average teenager.
It wasnt until I was seventeen that my powers showed up. Roger was off on a drunken rage again and I was sick of it. Hed beaten me before but I think he must have had more to drink tonight or something. Anyway somewhere between the punching and kicking and slapping I had an epiphany. I was sick of this and I didnt have to take it anymore. I turned on Roger and decked him with everything I had. Well it was a lot more then I knew I had. When I hit him my hand sparked like the lightning that is so common where I live. Roger flew across the room and through the wall of our trailer house. I was in shock. I just discovered I had superpowers and had just killed my father.
I wasnt sorry though. No I blamed Roger for everything that was wrong in my life. I had endless rage stored up inside towards that man. I even blamed him for my mothers death. When I saw he was still barely alive I picked him up over my head, let loose all my rage, screamed, and shot him to oblivion above the clouds in a huge lightning bolt.
After this I was terrified at what I had done. Not that I had killed Roger, but that I had killed period. I didnt care a lick about Roger. I was glad he was gone. But now I was lost at what to do. I made my way to a desolate and remote part of Canada where I practiced and controlled my powers. Once I had a good grip on my abilities I adopted the name (undecided) and headed back down to NY where I could practice my powers in combat.
My reasons for fighting crime are not born out of a desire for Justice. More so they make for a good excuse to release my anger and hone my powers while staying on the right side of the law. For now anyway.
When I heard that Defender was recruiting heroes, I flew (yes thats another part of my powers that I discovered) down to Millennium City to use my power however I could and hopefully become more powerful in the meantime.
There is a powerful scocer that was cutting threw evil like a knife threw butter. One boss fight he attempted a new enchantation to make his summons more stronger just 3 words "Tar na lock" this did make his summon stronger but it did other things. first it gave the summoned humanoid a mind. second it broke the bonds of being tied down to his masters bidding. It finished the battle for the Scorcer but after that it ran away. The scorcer was stunned. The huminoid began putting the peices of the puzzle together. He knew he had to get back at this person who ripped him from his home and made him captured in this small planet with small little creatures everywhere. He only wants one thing to kill the man who took away his home and trapped him in a world he does not know.
Uh....hi. I'm kinda new here, and this is really my first post. But since this is a sounding board for new heroes, I could really use the feedback....
*ahem*
Name's Raphael. Raphael Angelo. Folks in the city call him Streetwise.
He was born to a no-account club dancer, from a liason with her cheap hood agent. Of course, not really giving a damn, she pitched him out as soon as the doc said "It's a boy.". Nice mom, huh? The kid grew up on the streets, hard and slightly bitter. Matter of fact, if it wasn't for Mike, he'd probably have ended up more than a little bit dead.
Michael Angelo, owner of Lazarus Repairs. A self-proclaimed automobile arteest (apparently it's spelled wrong without the two ee's), he took in Raph when he found him scrounging out of his workshop. He gave the kid a job, and surprisingly enough, the back alley scavenger found he had a knack for tinkering and repairs. Life was pretty good then, tinkering and fixing things in the shop every day, then munching on pasta and spicy sausage in the evenings, while debating the merits of different tools for different jobs.
Then, something funny happened. Raph was scavving in an old dumpster for some spare parts outside a weird old warehouse, when he found a pair of rusty, creaky old gloves. Big ones, too, stuffed with mechanical parts and computer gadgetry. Taking it back to Mike, the two tinkered, poked, and prodded it until they discovered what it was capable of.
Unfortunatley, that discovery involved an energy bolt blasting a hole in poor Mike's workshop wall. And the Chinese laundry beside it. And the nightclub beside that. And....you get the idea. Needless to say, there was a leetle bit of hostility towards the two for a bit. Mike and Raph hid the gloves for a while, blaming a gas leak. (Right.) Then, the next big thing happened.
Unsurprisingly, some low-down street gang decided that the street Lazarus Repairs was on would make a great place to call their turf. And they decided to do so by beating the crap out of anyone who complained. Raph and Mike quietly went about repairing things, usually stuff broken up by the gang.
Then, one fine day, a little grandmother, a harmless old lady who ran a fruit stand at the end of the street, walked in holding an old gramophone that had been thoroughly trashed. That little gramophone had blared music up and down that little street for years, and nobody ever complained. Most folks even liked it. Mike took it without a word and started working on it, skipping lunch and dinner too. Raph tried to help, but Mike refused. He wanted to do it himself. He finished working at midnight, falling asleep in his chair. Raph carried him upstairs.
The next day, everyone woke up to a lovely sight. All the gang members were lying around on the ground in pain, their vehicles trashed and blasted, and their hideout a smoking crater. No fatalities, but a lot of broken limbs.
Since then, whenever there's been a problem down street-level, Raph hauls out those old gloves, sticks them on his hands, grabs a pair of welding goggles for his eyes, and proceeds to lay some serious smack. As Streetwise!
Streetwise is slightly unique in that he isn't a big-time save-the-world hero, but the small-time kind, the kind who keeps the streets clean of all the thugs and nasty sewer monsters that the big-time heroes overlook during their save-the-world campaigns. He's a hard kid too, with a very sarcastic and jaded outlook. But, deep inside, there is a slight glimmer of optimism, kept alive by his friends, the residents of Meeker Street.
The gloves themselves are standard mechanical fare, but with some really odd attachments, doodads, and gizmos that often make absolutely no sense until a situation crops up that they'd be perfect for. Street himself has very little idea on the intracacies of their creation, and for the most part is happy just when he can get them doing something close to what he wants them to do. Rest assured, however, Mike and Raph spend a lot of time each evening trying to tinker with them. And patching holes in Mike's walls....
For the record, the gloves work something similar to a kinetic accelerator, as long as Street is wearing the gloves and moving, kinetic power is stored in them. The gloves can then tap into that store whenever he needs either a power boost (the energy translating into strength via the gloves) or as kinetic waves (think, really big air push). Other than that, he's still working on how to operate them without them blowing up in his face.
Appearance wise, he's not the nicest-looking hero in the book. Slightly emanciated, with hard eyes and angular features, he looks every inch the street kid (he's also only around 16-17). Regarding costume, he wears a red sweatshirt and black sweatpants, with a pair of black welding goggles around his forehead (a gift from Mike when he started working full-time and legit at Lazarus), the power gloves, and old busted-up sneakers.
Since my thread for Annihilator seems be getting ignored, I'll post this here:
Jason, a brilliant scientist who was now struggling with finances to keep a roof over his wife and son's head because the company that he worked for was shut down, applied for a job as an bio chemist. VIPER hired him and set him to work on a serum. He wasn't sure what he was working on, but they assured him it would benifet all of mankind. He eventually completed the serum. But he soon found out what it was really for, and what VIPER's intentions were. He stole the serum, intent on keeping it out of their hands.
But he was eventually captured, and taken prisoner by VIPER. They set him up as a test subject for the serum that he created. They injected it into him. They kept him prisoner for 3 days after he was injected, but nothing happened. They deemed the project a failure and dumped him onto the streets.
He woke up in a hospital 1 day later. When the nurses left him after he recovered, he started changing. He became a monsterous beast with a massive hunger. The animal side of him took over, and he slaughtered and consumed all in his path. He eventually reached his family, whom he then killed and eaten.
He eventually escaped the hospital and was confronted by the police. He quickly dispatched of them and went into hiding. He collapsed near a dumpster after an hour of running from the army and a few super heroes. It was there at the dumpster, in the cold and dark alley that Jason took back control. He had control of the beast now, but it was too late. He remembered every single bit of it. And his guilt and grief consumed him.
He eventually turned himself in. Defender personally had a talk with him. After hearing his side of the story, Defender offered him a chance to redeem himself as a hero of Millenium City. Jason accepted. And now as an unofficial super hero, he fights to redeem himself, both in the eyes of the public who still fear him, and to himself, to forgive what he's done. When he's not fighting, he goes through therapy to help recooperate from the trauma.
But VIPER took notice of this. They realized they succeeded in making the ultimate bio weapon. But an attack on their base of operations destroyed all records and left overs of the serum, and now they hunt Annihilator, hoping to collect his DNA and remake the serum.

I need to know if this fits into Champions lore or not. Did I not present VIPER correctly? (Stuff like that.) Corrections, advice, and constructive criticism needed.
Sledgehammer1: Well i'm a little confused.. first you said the sorcerer summoned this creature and his incantation gave him a mind.. And later you said he ripped him from his home. So then did he have a mind or not? The two don't really seem to go together. But other then that it's a solid overview with a lot of room to expand. I really like the fact that you're coming at your story from a different perspective that i haven't heard before.
Sleepinin: I have to agree with TS, that was a great read. Some suggestions... You said at first that he has a knack for tinkering and gadgets and the like but he never really goes anywhere with that. I like the idea of the gloves and the small scale superhero and all that but where does Raph come in? He could like.. build off of the gloves technology and create a suit or become a gadgetier or something. Or maybe the something goes wrong with the gloves and they zap Raph instead, giving him their power. That's my two cents there i guess.. But great story so far.
hhswn: Yeah most of us are gettin ignored a bit here too cuz everyone just posts their own story and leaves waiting for someone to comment on it. But try commenting on other's and maybe they'll return the favor. Well i don't know anything of the Champion's lore but i can offer advice. So anyway in your story is the Annihilator kind of like a hulk creature? I like the emotion your story adds with his guilt. Kind of makes it more theatrical. And you said defender gives him a chance to redeem himself. He could go on a certain mission for Defender and there is where he attracts VIPER's attention again. As far as his nemesis goes you could go into like either an assassin from VIPER or someone who accidentally and unbeknown to him and maybe VIPER as well got a hold of his serum and he feel it's his fault as he created the serum. Anyway have funn with that!
Actually, the gloves were made by Streetwise's nemesis, Professor Wyrd (A gag on Professor Fate).
Wyrd's a pretty much nutso inventor, loves to tinker and make things, and he always wants them to do exactly what he wants them to do. Unfortunatley, after he uses them for what he had planned, he generally discards them. But he still considers them his.
So, when he chucked away the power gloves, and they ended up in the dumpster, and Streetwise found them, he didn't really care. But when he saw Streets stop a robbery on TV with his gloves, he went mad with rage. Those were his gloves, he didn't build them to do that, and he wants them back.
The trick here is, Wyrd isn't neccessarily a bad guy. He's just very eccentric. He'll make gadgets for heroes and villains, as long as they use them for what he's built them for. He did not build those gloves for Street, and not for heroics, so he wants to kick Street's **** (not kill him. That's not Wyrd's style) and take them back. Heck, Street and Wyrd have even teamed up a couple of times against big-time villains who have abused Wyrd's creations.
But, for the most part, Streets'll be tinkering in the garage, and Wyrd'll come bursting through the door in some newfangled suit he's just built with automatic gizmometers, and demand that Raph fight him for the gloves. Then he'll get blown out the window, slam into a nearby wall, and stagger away dragging the wreckage of his suit saying "Back to the drawing board...."
Been poking my character's backgroudn and realised that I have a wee problem - no name (!). I have a normal first name but... no superhero ID name or the like. And that sucks. And I suck with names, and that sucks more.
So I figured I'd post what I have here both to get some feedback/commetnary and also ideas for a name. History
Jill (lastname)s life was, for the most part, none to extraordinary. A bit of an achiever, during high school she served as a member of several of the schools sports teams when she wasnt studying. However, it was her studies that were her principle focus. She excelled in science, specifically chemistry and biology. Intending to pursue a career in the field, she enrolled in university, aiming at a degree.
As a part of her studies, she managed to land a job as a lab assistant at Origins Chemicals, a leading chemical research and manufacturing firm. While fully aware of her junior position, she regardless was glad to be working in such a well-known and large company and gladly took whatever duties were offered even if they did mean sitting in the lab overnight while experimental chemicals mixed and processed.
Unfortunately, it was during one of these late shifts that an accident occurred. An incorrectly mixed formula quietly bubbled away, reaching a critical mass under her nose and blowing up in her face. The lab was wrecked but, strangely, Jill was unharmed save for a few small cuts and some bruises. Even though she was cleared by the doctors, she was given a week off work just in case there were any unexpected side effects.
There were, but not ones she had expected. Over the course of the next month, Jill began to dramatically grow, gaining over a foot in height while her mass increased considerably. However, she also discovered that her strength had increased to superhuman levels when she began accidentally destroying household objects. After being nearly hit by a car she stopped it with her hands, crushing its front end in the process she reached the conclusion that she had developed superhuman strength and endurance.
Not outstandingly unusual (living in a city known as a centre for superhuman activities), Jill realised what she wanted to do. She had been given these powers, and, as such, it was her responsibility to use them to help others. At the same time, she felt rather growingly confident in herself and her abilities, and almost looked forward to the idea of using them.
Taking the name (heroname), she began spending her spare time prowling the streets of Millennium City, looking for a chance to use her powers. While her first few battles were low-key fights against muggers and other common criminals, it wasnt long before she had her first battle against a true supervillain. (this to be filled out as I get more idea of the early game >.>)
Powers/Abilities
The chemical accident that altered Jill gave her superhuman strength and endurance. Her upper limits are unknown, but she can lift and throw cars at the very least, and isnt afraid to try something heavier. (When she thinks nobody is looking, she will go to junkyards and industrial wastelands to find things to lift and throw to see what she can do). This has two other net side effects; (heroname) can hit hard; her blows hurt like hell and are enough to leave a mark on metal or concrete. She can also leap long distances, simply due to how strong her legs are.
Similarly, (heroname) is quite ridiculously tough, able to take hits that would flatten a normal person. While far from indestructible (Something she has found out the hard way), she is very resilient and hard to hurt. The end result is that she can be hit hard, and rarely suffer any serious injury as a result. Certainly getting thrown through walls, falling of buildings and hit with heavy objects will hurt like hell, but dont seem to slow her down much. Exactly how much punishment she can take, much like the limits of her strength, are unclear; understandably, shes been a lot less willing to experiment.
Personality
Jill is bold, outgoing and somewhat reckless. She likes to think that she is, indeed, the strongest woman nay person in the world, and wants to prove it to anyone who will listen. Certainly she seems driven by some desire to prove herself. This, in turn, combined with her resilience, has given her a somewhat reckless edge; she seems to have very little regard for her own safety, instead being somewhat confident in her ability to take whatever hit is coming her way. This is yet to get her seriously hurt, but it could just be a matter of time.
She likes to stand up and be noticed, and could be borderline obnoxious in some cases. Simple fact is that she does seem to like attention; while shes not the sort of person who demands to be the centre of everything, she likes to be in the loop and know whats going on. And, every now and then, read a good book.
(heroname)s powers are somewhat innate; they cant be switched on or off; in essence, shes always big, strong and tough. Shes lead her life being used to them being always there; she couldnt dream of being without them. In fact, shes somewhat afraid of what would happen if they were somehow removed; the thought of being normal is quietly terrifying. Her powers do have a few drawbacks; theres the ever present concern of losing control and accidentally breaking something or someone from just casually handling them.
Above all else, shes a fundamentally good person. While yes she wants to prove herself, she also figures that she can use the abilities she has been granted to help others. And probably get into a fight along the way.
Appearance
The first thing anyone would notice about Jill is just how freakishly tall she is. A hair under two meters, she has a solid, muscular build. Her body is clearly toned and athletic, and would suggest a high level of fitness and strength even for someone who wasnt superhuman. Despite this, she is still attractive. She has a nice face with long red hair, and blue eyes. Similarly, she still has something of a figure which can be a problem, as that puts her not inconsiderable chest at eye level to most people.
Normally, Jill wears what are politely called big mens fashions, simply because of how hard it is to get anything in her size. She prefers slacks or jeans and button-up shirts, sometimes with a jacket if the weather demands. When in her civilian identity, she usually wears her hair tied back and also sports small glasses theyre purely cosmetic. (She wore glasses before her accident, and keeps them as a form of disguise)
Her uniform as such consists of a form-fitting bodysuit that serves to enhance her figure and physique. Mostly shiny black, the costume sports vibrant purple designs. She does not wear a mask.
I was wondering if I could have some help with my backstory. My characters name is Crimson Steel, real name is William Pettycoat. He was a history major in college. After college, he joined the British Military and was picked out for the SAS, and became a master of unconventional/medieval weapons. After the SAS, he joined a historical reenactment troupe. Crimson Steel uses either 2 blades or 1 2h (not sure yet) and he looks like http://manarg.deviantart.com/art/Crimson-Colors-122888052
Occupation: VIPER Elite Nest Leader (tasked with capturing Annihilator in order to harvest his DNA)
Appearance: Long dark hair, athletic level fit body, brown eyes. Wears a light armor VIPER Nest leader body suit, with a combat visor over her eyes that give her real time tactical information. Suit also has experimental life support system to help user recover from medium injuries quickly.
Attributes: Very intelligent, able to push herself without rest for up to 14 hours, very athletic. Heavily trained in many forms of combat.
Powers: Control over Ice and Water, super speed and agility
Mastery over water allows her to either drain someone of hydration, or drown someone by directly flooding thier lungs. She can also summons large waves of water and strike with them.
Can freeze herself over, creating a suit of ice that protects her against most attacks. She can also utilize this ability to give her sharp ice blades. Can throw ice shards and freeze her enemies.
Weaknesses: She's really not that much stronger than a typical human (when not in "ice suit"), not much more resistant to damage either.
kk fixing up my story from the stuff the wasnt good he does have a mind the summoned creature just not enough to know general knowladge he knows where his home (realm) is and he likes it there im just saying it gave him more of a mind to figure out what happened
Hmm my first thought was that Medusa (unless you are attached to the Devil part) could be a great Nemesis for Devil Squid. IE after the accident she decides to go home and try to make a real life for herself, and after her brother gets killed she starts hunting DS for revenge. Just a thought...
Nah, I figured after doing the evil jellyfish villain approach with Tendril, I'd have Medusa go in a more heroic role. She actually becomes a hero in her own right and eventually develops her own supporting cast and rogues gallery. She continues searching for the same answers Tendril sought (why/how they were given their powers, why their parents were killed, etc.) but she doesn't go all evil and dark from it like he did.
Not quite what I meant by tying them up together. I was more asking how could I tie up the lab accidents/reasons for their origins. Having two different, albeit similar, scientific accidents/experiments happen to them in the same basic area and similar time seemed to stretch probability.
As for the family thing, Medusa isn't the adopted one. Tendril was adopted by Medusa's family, before Medusa was born. Squid is Tendril's biological cousin, but is raised by their grandmother, who could only take care of one, hence why Tendril was adopted. Make sense?
The ancestor bit could be cool, but I don't know. I figured the 'mad science' thing took care of the whole explanation of their powers. As for the similar result, I was thinking that a lab dealing with squids might deal with similar studies of other various sea creatures, or something. I'm really trying to iron out the whole lab accident/experiment thing, who they are, what they're doing, etc.
Yeah, he was inspired by the main, but he was sort of a late addition to the team. I'm not sure how much actual work he did before going super. He's the only hero without powers as such. I could use an explanation on how a young mechanic could craft low level tech armor, since I don't think he could have learned that in high school or community college. He's was a bit of a disappointment to his father, a medical doctor, but they patched that up.
Hey guys, this is my first time here. I just got into CoH then i heard of this game. I'm intending on doing the same characters I've always wished to see have their own movies. Well here it is, the story of my two characters, The Amazing Saint, and the Red X.
Amazing Saint Info- Real name: Saint Xavier Estidnt. Born: Planet Crylan, Unknown Date. City of Rayvgn.
Red X Info- Real name: Rook Xero Estidnt Born: Planet Crylan, Unknown Date. City of Rayvgn.
The Planet of Crylan has many problems. War, pollution, basically the same as Earth. Crylan though, has more than 20 races. Including 3 "Super" Races. Those three being the Saints, the X's, and the Shadows. For over 20,000 years a war between the Saints and the X's raged on. The Estidnt family were made up of Saints, and respected their culture greatly. They named their first son Saint after being confirmed that he was a Saint. One year later they had another boy, they named him Rook, after the grandfather. But Rook, was different. He, was not a confirmed Saint. Yet, an X. The thing was, Saints and X's both looked alike, so nobody could tell the difference unless the X's had their tattoos.
The parents lied to the city, claiming that they had another Saint Boy. As Rook turned 17 he began taking walks around the huge city, witch tripled New York in size. One day, Rook entered the X distract, where many X's lived, but the City was a Ceasefire zone, no fighting. Rook was confronted by an old man, an X. The man picked up Rook with force and slammed him into the pavement. The man looked at him and said, "Son, I am an Identifier. They call you a Saint, but you are no Saint. You are the proclaimed, yes. It is you! Everybody! He's here! The Savior is here!"
Rook was confused. The man said, "Have you ever heard of Red X?"
Rook thought, he remembered that name. Red X was the leader of the X's, an Overlord, the most powerful being in the galaxy.
"Y-y-y-yes," Rook said.
"The Red X, is you. You want proof don't you, just watch."
The man put his index finger onto Rooks forehead gently. Rook felt a burning sensation, then pain. His stomach began to burst with pain, then his back, then his hands, and then his face. He started screaming. He felt his stomach being ripped apart along with every other part of his body. After five minutes it was over. Rook lifted up his shirt, to see a huge, ******, X mark on his stomach.
He was covered in blood, and he hurt.
The man said, "You see, you are him, he is you. Hail, X. Now, if you will sir, please follow me.
Rook went down stairs, being supported by two younger men. He was put onto a table.
The man shouted, "This is X's sacred wearings. They are now yours."
Rook put them on.
"Now X. Lead us!"
Rage flew through his body. He knew his parents lied to him. That night, he went to his house, and murdered his family. But he could not find Saint, his brother.
Saint came home that evening to see both his parents dead. But Saint had his own secret. He was the Callen. the Chosen, the One. He was the Saint. The leader of the Saints. And Saints objective was much different then his brothers, it was to save the universe from Red X, who his Master had told him, was his brother.
Saint used his new powers to teleport himself the the Sacred Temple. The Great Saint Holy Land. There he saw his master. Infront of his master were golden boxes.
"Open the Left on first," Commanded the Master.
Saint lifted up the cover, and inside was a suite. It was Gold and Black, and on top the sacred Saint hood. Saint then proceeded to open the Right case. It again, was another suite. But this one, completely black.
The master screamed, "You only wear the Sacred Black Zero Suite if you DESPERATELY need it, for it contains power that the world has never seen!!"
"Yes Master."
"Now go, find your brother, and bring him to justice."
Saint used his new taught powers to spot his brother, and then teleported into his position. Saint found himself inside a X Starship, "Downed".
The Starship was all the way in a new galaxy, the Milkyway Galaxy. Saint approached his brother with his Gold and Black suite. Rook turned around.
"Their you are, Saint. I was looking forward to killing you."
Saint used his 18 years of training and buried his fist into his brothers face, launching his brother into a Life Pod. The Pod launched and plummeted towards an unknown planet, Earth. Saint proceeded to follow his brother, by teleportation. As soon as he tried to teleport, his power ripped through the Starship, exploding the five major engines, and lighting the Oil room. He jumped into another Pod and launched himself towards Earth.
Saint landed into the ocean next to Paragon City. He teleported to Galaxy City. He quickly relized the destress of the City and registered himself as a Hero, hopefully to find his brother as well. After 60 years in Paragon City, Saint still looked and fought like an 18 year old Saint. Same height, weight everything. Nothing changed but that number. Saint herd of another city in trouble, this one name Millennium City. He got himself there, and he sensed a very evil presence, the one of Red X.
Why doesn't Saint just find X, kill him, then leave?
Saint vowed himself to Earth, to protect it against evil. After he gets Rook, he shall still remain as a Hero.
To this day, Saint is still setting up in Millennium City, waiting, watching. Red X will not harm anyone.
Thats it! I hope everyone enjoyed it. More story to be on the way. If you want to ask questions about ANYTHING ( i really mean plain anything) regarding Saint and Red X just reply or PM me.
Ok so seeing as how my writing abilities are below average I thought i would come over here to ask for help on a character bio/backstory
Alright so I was throwing around ideas and I decided I liked the idea of a former communist soldier who has defected to america but still wears the communist colors.I was also thinking maybe just a Russian Hero. I was thinking he would have super strength and maybe a little electricity powers too, and of all the names I thought of my favorite was Iron Dynamo.
Please if anyone would care to elaborate on my poorly written down ideas it would be much appreciated.

Got ya on the family/lab thing. To tie them all together (unless i'm misunderstanding again) just find some common element that explains the similar result. Even something like a seafood buffet provides the DNA and a VIPER assault nearby releases chemicals into the air....
As to the tech guy, that could be his power. He can take junk and turn it into tech. Could be latent genius, or just a cosmic power so that anything he makes works, with or without the "right" parts. He could theoretically be the most powerful of them all, but he has no clue about his true potential, instead just uses it to make gear for the rest of the team.
@ everyone else When I get the chance to sit at my PC I will try to comment on other's work as well as post my own ideas...
can anybody make up a story for me? My guy has unarmed combat and teleporting. I have no imagination. HELP!!!!!!
Before we can Help theres a few Things that we need too know..... True Basics are...
Hero Name/Codename: (Pretty self Explanitaty) Actual Name: (unless one and the same as above...) Origin: (I.e. Mutant, Experiment, Super soldier, Normal Smoo with hi-tech Gear?) Birthplace: (sometimes Important.. and can Flavour Why/How he becomes a hero) Family: (Does he/she have any? What happened too them if not, or are they an Oprhan. If an orphan who motivated them) Power Definitions: (important for Understanding how the Character can Grow, Not something Essential at Generation. Bearing in mind that this is mostly for Your own Use and not what the Character understands of them) What If's: (Sometimes its useful too get an Idea of you Character if you go Though a set of "What If" it can help create a personality profile for you too Use. Once you have that it can be used too help create Defineing moments in there past/history as too Why they are like this.)
Hopefully with a little of the Above you can get a Guideline too help us and yourself with creating your Characters History.
and dont use defeatist statements like "I have no imagination"
you do, trust me.
your being here and wanting a character of your own, with its own story, proves that.
It isnt that you LACK some critical facet of character creation.... rather, you are a Novice.
you are inexperenced, not incapable.
no one's first character was terribly "good". the great characters came from flashes of inspiration to people who have made hundreds of "bad" characters, to find that one "great" one.
dont cut down your self confidence before you even begin.
its YOUR character.
think about what you want, in that character...
what do you like about other characters(not just comics, but books, TV, movies, anything), what do you identify with in those characters?
remember the goal is to make YOUR character.... not a character someone else will think is "cool". this isnt a class project, there are no "A's"
This thing is much easier than you think, all it takes is a different point of view.
Before we can Help theres a few Things that we need too know..... True Basics are...
Okay...
Name-Smoke (also if u have other suggestions i would appreciate it)
Actual Name- any plain american name (like joe)
Origin- Mutant
Why He Became Hero- was bad guy at first (ex robbing banks) but then became a hero for selfish reasons
Power- can teleport, and uses it to fight better by teleporting around opponents and hitting (punches and kicks, no swords, claws, or superstrength)
Not sure what to do for family or what ifs..... I came up with a story before but i want to what story you might come up with. Also if you have any suggestions feel free to tell me.
Looks like you Have Very Little.... Hmm. Ok i'll Bite and make abit for you....
Name-Smoke
Actual Name-Joeseph Nostus (Really an Alias, Used too be Joe Long)
Origin- Mutant
Birthplace- New York
History- Born in a slums area of New York too a small time Hood and a Hooker, Joe Grew up feeling a little out of place. Literally in some cases, he wasn't very Quick on his feet, strong or tough, and he always felt like he was a couple of seconds behind everyone else. This left him bitter and resentful to his parents who for the most part where never around, that is until he and his mother were involued in a drive-by shooting.
You see his father had managed too **** of the wrong people just once too often and they decided that is was time too let him know it. They managed too shoot and kill Joe's mum and graze Joe with the Bullets. At this point his mutant ability Awoke and he found himself sat at home cradling his mothers arm (which as his power was unstable he managed too pull with him in that first "Leap".
After this and his realisation that his son was a mutant his father started too teach him alot about his "Trade" and got him too help in several of his schemes all the while promiseing him that he'll find out who Killed Joe's Mum.
Right there's a Base.... All you need is too Give him a Reason too be a Hero, And any training in Hand-to-hand beyond just Smacking them one....
Not Quite Complete... As i said it a Base... There are afew things too be added too it for a Decent Finish/Start.
Personally i Have too many ideas for Characters anyway so.... too let someone else Have one isn't a Problem.
Edit/Additional:
Hope no-one minds me setting up shop here as well? As i said i have far too many ideas myself and shareing them is a great way too Help me NOT go nuts waiting... (well too late for the Insanity really but might help me too be slightly less nuts....)
Right for those that want help with there characters... Heres Something that MIGHT help a little with Expanding there personality, Backgroud Etc... And give you a rough idea of what type of "Standard profile form" that a registered hero might have... (well most of it would be filled in by an Assesser or "Shrink" but you get the Idea...)

If you could save several lives at the risk of one or two others, would you?

(pick the most appropriate or all three)
How do you feel that you have an enemy that wants too kill you?
How do you feel that you have an enemy that wants too hurt you?
How do you feel that you have an enemy that wants too humiliate you?
Do you accept the Fame that comes with being a Hero?
Do you accept the Fanfare that comes with being a Hero?

If one of your Fans Dies how would you react?
Do you Advertise product for Companies?

That all i could think off for now... I'll fill one in and put it up as a Example Later i hope..... (that is if my Wrists allow me too...)
Righty... Here's one i Prepared Earlier... Will likly be an Alt if i make him in-game....
Any Extra Advice would be good..

Little is known about this Enigmatic AI other then it has an Odd sense of Humour, Loves Fighting and it likes Hacking into MMO's.... in its spare time....
Personality Profile. If you saw a person being attacked, what would you do?
Depends on if that person looked interesting.
If someone screamed for help while you were fighting a gang of criminals what would you do? If it was for nothing? If it was Life Threatening?
I would Run Threat Assessment on the targets and see if they are likely too cause a situation in the period of time it will take me too investigate the Screams. I would Inform the Individual that Wasting Police time is an Offence and they where lucky that I showed up and not the Police if it was for nothing. If it was life Threatening I would Immediately call for Support, Police and Fire if needed, and attempt too rescue or save as many individuals as possible.
If you could save someone elses life but at the cost of your own would you?
As an Artificial Individual I have the Benefit of being able too back myself up and restore myself, so I would gladly sacrifice my body if it would save someone else. If you could save several lives at the risk of one or two others, would you?
It depends upon those that I am saving, I would leave those in the act of crime too save themselves, while I would save those that could not save themselves normally.
What makes you feel Happy? Irrelevant What makes you feel Sad? Again Irrelevant What annoys you? Unnecessary Questions What infuriates you? The Expectations that Artificial intelligences cannot answer the Question Why? The Answer is Why not?
How do you feel that you have an enemy that wants too kill you?
Bemused, I cannot Think at what I would have done too have caused this reaction in someone.
Do you accept the Fame that comes with being a Hero?
Fame is something I find Hard too understand. Why follow blindly a single individual without knowing what that person is trying too do. To answer the question, No I do not Accept the fame, I simply Do my job. Do you accept the Fanfare that comes with being a Hero?
I believe I have already Answered this? If one of your Fans got hurt because of you what would you do?
I would insure the individual learned his lesson and then leave them be. If one of your Fans Dies how would you react?
Ensure that all my fans know that I did not want them, because something like this would happen. I would ensure that the persons Family is compensated too.
Do you Advertise product for Companies?
Although I find the Idea Abhorrent I do, primarily because I need too earn some money for Maintenance of this Armour. What do you do with the money if you do?
Most goes into Maintenance and Upgrades for my armour the rest goes to Charities, Including the fund for Emergency service Widows and a group researching into a cure for Cancer. How do you feel about Cashing In on your powers/Abilities?
I do not like doing it, But I find it difficult too not do it as I have no other way of Obtaining Parts and upgrades.
Alex Walters was born on October 14, 1986. His father, Peter Walters, was a psychic, as well as his grandfather before him. The psychics were a reclusive group, choosing to live in secrecy. Some married normal spouses, had children and lost the trait somewhere on the family line. Some went insane. Most never knew they had it. Alex Walters didn't know.
Descended from a long line of psychics, Peter Walters was one of a few active psychics. He dedicated his life to science, and he was good at it. All psychics have very strong minds. His main goal was to create a drug that would help preserve his own line of psychics. He finally perfected it, and injected himself. He knew that it would probably not affect him much, but his child would hopefully be a powerful psychic. The drug was dubbed "Psych". Peter Walters fell in love with a woman in Millennium City, and together they had a child, who they named Alex.
Alex never knew Peter Walters, or his mother, but his adoptive parents, Mark and Paula Ross, were family to him. They raised him as a child. Alex could "steal" the thought of others. Raised by two adults, Alex matured at an alarming rate. His knowledge of the world was almost on par with his adoptive parents, even though he was young child. Mostly he stole information such as world history, current events, things his parents wouldn't talk much to him about. Because he and his parents lived a sheltered life, Alex knew little about the darker parts of the world. This changed when he was 10, and his adoptive parents realized discovered his ability.
Alex was brought to a psychiatrist, to find out what went was going on in his brain. Alex didn't know why, but being in that office made his mind feel like it was exploding. Something was wrong. He could sense a dark intent. Alex Walters had a meltdown, which sent signals that hurt the people around him. He ran outside the office, and out of the building. With his parents and the psychiatrist tailing him, Alex ran across the street and into an alley. He didn't get far, but he came within feet of a brothel, unknown to anyone else around. It was hidden, but Alex could hear all the thoughts, the sex, the drugs, all of it being forced into his head prematurely. Alex Walters went insane at the age of 10.
The resulting meltdown killed everyone in the area. This included his parents. Strangely, the psychiatrist survived, but he went insane. Alex and the psychiatrist were taken to a high security mental hospital and studied. It was discovered that the psychiatrist, identified as Dr. Andrew Lind, was also a psychic, and worked for a criminal organization known as The Eye. Alex learned about his father that day.
Alex was about as intelligent as a full grown adult, but acted insane. Being near the psychiatrist (who was even more insane) would almost instantly cause Alex to meltdown. He couldn't handle all of those thoughts at once. Fourteen patients died in the next 6 years from Alex's attacks. He was to be executed, but the hospital knew this had to be done carefully. They decided to shock his brain to death, but while it was being done, evacuate the hospital. They would attach a timed device to his brain, which would shock him when the other patients had been transported to a safer location.
Alex was scheduled to be executed when he was 1 years old. He was just starting to learn telekinesis, the ability to move objects with his mind. He had moved a rock, but not much else. He got better with each passing day, but could only lift small objects.
It was finally time to be executed. The device was place inside Alex's brain, and the hospital was evacuated. Alex was shocked, but he fought it. During his stay at the hospital, Alex lived a shell of an existence. He had no real opinion on anything. Alex was a drone. He did his daily tasks, without thinking that he was locked up. The shock snapped him out of it after 6 years. The heat inside Alex's head got to be so intense that the device stared to melt. No matter how much power the device shelled out, Alex's brain would not stop. With his brain stimulated, Alex's psychic powers got a boost, and he was able to push the liquid metal into other parts of his body. This created a sort of thin metal skeleton under his skin. It wasn't very durable, but it was stronger than skin, and it was a conductor. Essentially, it was like a network of wires. Through small metal wire poking out of his skin, Alex was able to release all of the electricity, and escape the facility. The only thing left of the device was a core, used to store large amounts of electric energy. The metal was used as an interweaving frame under Alex's skin.
His combined powers, hate of criminal minds, which corrupted his childhood, and thirst for answers drove him to become a superhero. He decided that he would go to school for the first time, and attempt to get his life back together before becoming a superhero. Although there was a lot of information in his head, he needed to repair the mental damage induced to him all of his life. In conjunction with his psychic abilities, it proved possible to learn to act like a normal person, but Alex was not without his oddities. Learning from others' thoughts, it took Alex four years to adjust to a normal life. He kept his powers hidden, and learned that he could manipulate electricity if he had any stored in his core, but kept the core empty for the majority of four years.
Alex Walters became Wattmind when he was 20 years old. His first costume was cheaply made, and gained him little fame as a superhero. It wasn't until he met Will Holt that he was able to design a new suit, one that allowed him to manipulate energy much more efficiently. This was a necessity, because Wattmind had previously only fought minor criminals, but after fighting his first supervillain, and losing, he needed a better suit.
That's a pretty rich backstory, SirPiranha -- a little angsty for my taste, but it's what you want that counts. I do have to question why Peter Walters gave Alex up for adoption. If Alex was a legitimate child of marriage, his father's abilities weren't public knowledge, and Peter was so concerned about preserving psychic abilities in his offspring, I find it hard to believe he'd let Alex go voluntarily and not keep close watch over him. If you really want Alex to be adopted (perhaps so his heritage wouldn't be known in advance), you might be better off to have Peter Walters and his wife killed in an accident (or by enemies).
Alex Walters should have plenty of reason to adopt a secret identity. Not only was he the cause of numerous deaths which would have law-enforcement hunting him down, but the legal battle over "executing" a child who was certifiably not responsible for his actions would have made headlines and gone on for years... unless Alex was being kept in some sort of secret government facility, which would likely result in much more secretive, and perhaps deadlier, operatives hunting him to "recover" an asset or keep him from revealing too much.
Given all the negative traumatic experiences of his childhood, I would think Alex Walters would need a lot of help coming to terms with his past and choosing to become a hero -- that's a lot to expect of a young person. There's a group in the official Champions Universe that could help a lot with this, Ravenswood Academy outside of Millennium City. Ravenswood is secretly a school for young superhumans, dedicated to teaching them how to use their powers responsibly and to become productively integrated into society. It's helped turn a number of troubled and antisocial young supers to the right path. Although the general public doesn't know the Academy's true purpose, it's well known within the superhero community. Any established hero who ran across Alex could likely refer him to it.
Speaking of the Champions Universe, there's an existing group that would fit perfectly with your concept of "the Eye" -- the Parapsychological Studies Institute (PSI), an organization of supercriminals with psionic-based powers. PSI started out appearing to be a legitimate clinic researching psychic abilities, but was actually recruiting or creating psychic supers to help in its criminal activities. Iit was exposed in 1994 and went underground. Based on your suggested timeline, when Dr. Lind was studying Alex PSI would still have been considered legit, so Dr. Lind certainly could have been working for PSI. As the group still exists in the present day, one or more of their operatives might even be hunting Wattmind.
I have a slight concern over Peter Walters using an experimental serum to genetically alter his unborn child -- sounds rather unethical and manipulative. That might very well be what you're going for, but if not, PSI itself invented a "Psi Serum" which can amplify the abilities of anyone with psychic potential, which Dr. Lind could have used on Alex. The sudden boost to his abilities might have led to Alex's "meltdown."
Alex Walters should have plenty of reason to adopt a secret identity. Not only was he the cause of numerous deaths which would have law-enforcement hunting him down, but the legal battle over
Thank you! I'll take all of your comments into consideration. You're right, some of the part of my story make a bit less sense, but I had a lot to write. I didn't really explain Peter Walters too well, but I had it in my mind that he disappeared, but was actually killed later on, after abandoning Alex. I was also thinking that he himself was a superhero for a short while, but to make abandoning seem less bad, I should probably go with my older idea of having only an adoptive father, who his mother remarried, because she never knew what Peter was. That might be better.
And the facility Alex was kept at was definitely top secret, but not necessarily run by the government. Ah, if only I could draw comicbook style, I would SO write my own comic book, but it's hard to make an interesting, coherent story in what was supposed to be a one paragraph summary of his origin for MyChampions. But I get carried away when I write. Then of course I couldn't use those Champions Universe areas you mentioned, but as far as Champions goes, I might use them.
need this longer some help on it and to make it more clear or fix any errors as it involves Dr. Moreau from the game world...
Formally a Superhero know as Beast King until a huge explosion "accident" before the destruction of Detroit tore up most of his body and wiped his memories. Dr. Moreau founded the half dead creature and created new memories for Beast King. Beast King's new memories made him think to only be a Manimal android created by the villain Dr. Moreau and knows only to protect evil doings and stop heroes.
Dr. Moreau was still developing the new creation he called Dusk B0-17 from the remains of the former hero in order to make him work for evil. Dr. Moreau's work involved installing robotic parts to remain vital parts and created many parts to strength the power of his creation. Electricity in order to work his computers for him, Force to defend Dr. Moreau himself, and many others he had not completely finished.
While being worked and almost completed on Beast King's old teammates finally found him they presumed dead but didn't give up hope. The team defeated Dr. Moreau and he retreated leaving his work behind. His teammates filled him in and he gave himself a new name Duskbolt so that Dr. Moreau would know him when he brought him down he decides to use his newly found powers to defeat Dr. Moreau and evil beings alike
While searching for Dr. Moreau with his team he discovered another Manimal Dr. Moreau created to replace he lost creation...Dawn J0-17...a Female Gynoid that now works for Dr. Moreau...Or does she...Maybe Dr. Moreau wasn't the only one working on Duskbolt, he is searching for the truth...
Sounds like an interesting concept, and a good excuse for "upgrading" an animal-based character with cybernetics. Dr. Moreau has extensive cybernetic expertise, so he certainly could do what you describe. I'd just like to remind you that Dr. Destroyer levelled Detroit in 1992, so if that's about when Beast King was injured he likely would have been serving Dr. Moreau as "Dusk-BO17" for years before his old teammates found him. If you don't want that, you should consider moving the date of his accident forward.
Have you thought of an origin for Beast King from before his accident? If you're unaware of it, Moreau created many manimals (including the famous simian super-scientist Dr. Silverback) long before he set up his facility on Monster Island. They still live at Moreau's old complex in the Ukraine, dubbed Gornyj Zver or "Beast Mountain" -- presumably what the manimal colony on Monster Island, "New Gornyj," is named after. Beast King could have been one of them who went out into the wider world as did Dr. Silverback, which would give Dr. Moreau a reason to keep track of his activities and be there to recover him after his accident... assuming Moreau didn't engineer the "accident" himself.

Wait the accident happened in 1990 and Dr. Moreau was the cause of that accident like you said, Beast King's background is that he is a failed Manimal of Dr. Moreau and got turned into a Gorilla. During his escape Dr. Moreau let him escape as an experiment in his sick way. The now Beast King formally Joseph Cain moved to Gorilla City (which is from DC universe so meh) and discovered he could shape shift into other animals but not into a human. He and his friends formed a team and used there powers for good to help fight Viper.
Dr. Moreau watched the talents, strengths, and many tactics of Beast King and thought up a plan. in 1991, with the technology of Gorilla City he got news of a fix for the problem allowing him to revert back into a human while keeping his morphing abilities. The news was sent by Dr. Moreau just as a lure and then came the accident which was a lab explosion with a gas that would knock out Beast King and caused injures.
Dr. Moreau worked on him until 1992 when during the battle of Detroit he was founded by his friends and rescued and fought in the battle of Detroit where his friends fell in battle. This made the now Duskbolt angry and he swore to demolish Dr. Moreau, and other villains. He also believed Dr. Destroyer was not dead and is now fighting against the "Dr. Destroyer" of the time now.
Would like some input on a character concept I've been idly kicking around for a week or so. Since I got into the magazine beta thing and have nothing to do until August 3rd, I figured hey, why not?
Name: ???
Superhero Identity: Deadlock
Potential Superstats: Strength and Intelligence
General Powerset Idea: Heavy-handed swordplay, knocking people around as summoned skeleton pets assist in doing damage and taking hits (assuming they get attacked like most other pets in games). I'm hoping to mix it up with a little in-combat teleportation. The general flavor idea is that Deadlock "borrows" from the power of the spirits of the departed to fuel his superheroic feats.
Costume: Not really sure how I want to go with this. At first I was like "Ahahaha, get big armor and look like teh Lich King!", but I'm not sure if that would be thematically appropriate. The other two options are to go with very plain clothes (brown jacket, black shirt with skull on the front, and jeans) or some kind of traditional superhero spandex. (Open to ideas on how the design of the latter would pan out.)
Power Source: Another toss-up, this time between either innate, through an artifact (probably the sword in that case), or a patron. Each has an impact on his backstory.
The innate Deadlock would, I'm thinking, be the son of a supervillain. Unlike his father, Deadlock (although having a decidedly negative themed powerset) never really got into the whole villain scene, and in his rebellious youth switched over to Hero side. (Don't know the details on that yet, just thought up the idea this morning.) He has a few regrets about that, of course, mainly in how the split affected his brother, who remained to continue work as a villain. In game terms, I'd probably make Deadlock's brother his Nemesis, with power over Life instead of Death (oh the irony).
If Deadlock instead got his powers through an artifact, as stated earlier, it would probably be through the sword. (Insert name) was just a mild-mannered security guard working at a local museum when he accidentally came across a hidden wing. Inside were many items, each extremely valuable but also extremely dangerous, hidden there behind a false wall by the owner: an eccentric, rich man who had a little too much taste for the occult and too little caution. (Insert name) comes into contact with the sword, which bequeaths unto him powers over the dead and bonds itself to his spirit. His supervillain in this case would likely be the museum's owner, who dons the remaining items in the secret wing and chases him constantly, trying to make him give up his new toy (which Deadlock couldn't get rid of even if he wanted to).
The last one is through some kind of patron, in this case likely some kind of bureaucratic institution that stands between this life and the next. They're always on the lookout for potential hirees, and (insert name) is - fortunately or unfortunately - exactly the kind of person that they're looking for. While I generally like this idea, I'm having trouble justifying him going around beating up random villains in his spare time. His work would presumably come from on high, with little reason to go out risking his life unnecessarily between jobs. One could say that he would be protecting other people's lives and thus preventing death that occurs outside of the natural order (which upsets the delicate balance between life and the afterlife), but that only applies in life-threatening situations. What about villains that are simply out to steal stuff? Does he just ignore them?
I'm trying to avoid getting too emo, which I know can plague characters with this kind of power portfolio.
If any of the helpers here would like to help me on the current story I would be very happy. I am also working on a new verion of it and will be posting part 1 of it soon, unless I just finish the whole thing. Anyways, link is in my sig if you want to help.
Can anyone offer any advice or help on my current backstory? (this is just a relatively brief version). I could also do with some help in coming up with a possible weakness for my character.
Name: Man-Ape
Powers: Flight
Energy Beams
Super Strength
Super Durability
Bio: As a precursor to the first manned missions into space, various animals were sent into space in order to test the survivability of spaceflight. One of these animals was Beef (name in progress), a chimpanzee. Upon leaving Earth's orbit, all was going well until communication was lost with the spacecraft. All assumed the craft had been destroyed and the mission was rendered a failure. However, unbeknowst to those back on Earth, the ship had not been destroyed it had instead travelled through a wormhole. Crash landing on an unknown alien world, Beef was discovered by the native lifeforms and experimented on. Now knowing that they were not alone in the universe the aliens set a course for Earth, using the co-ordinates stored in Beef's craft, ready to wage war and take the planet as their own with their most powerful creation, the chimp now known as Man-Ape. Upon returning to Earth with his new masters Man-Ape fought viciously against Earth's military until being lured into a trap and hit with a ballistic missle. Regaining his former memory upon regaining consciousness, Man-Ape switched sides and fought back against his former masters causing them to retreat back to their own planet. Now Man-Ape stands ever viligant should his former masters ever return.
In 1988, Joseph Cain, a 19 year old man named Joseph Cain living in Detroit signed up for research work for college thinking he would just help mankind's advancements and get new first hand experience. Dr. Moreau taking on the name of Dr. M did experiments to what he said was a study to see if a cure for headaches would work, but were really genetic changes in order to create Manimals. Joseph was a failed experiment and was turned into a Gorilla which Dr. Moreau let go under a close watch. Joseph found a city made up entirely of Gorillas to begin his sad new life as a Gorilla. There he discovered he wasn't just some poor monkey but could shape shift into any animal he could think of and trained this power for the next year of his life.
In 1989, Joseph now taking on the name, Beast King, joined a Super Group known as the DEMI where he and 3 other Super Heroes fought against evil and there enemy Viper in 1990. In 1991, Using the technology of Gorilla City to his advantage, Dr. Moreau sent Beast King a fake message noting a cure for his Gorilla appearance by a Dr. Rido. He toke off immediately to Canada where he and other Gorilla awaited for the shot. Beast King thought it was weird that none of the Gorilla were talking as they were also failed experiments like himself. Then suddenly the lab exploded unleashing a gas which killed the Gorillas and knocked out Beast King. Dr. Moreau appeared and dragged him off somewhere where he wiped his memories and turned him into a Cyborg-like Gorilla which he called Dusk-8017. Dr. Moreau made Beast King, now Dusk-8017, believe he was Dr. Moreau's guardian and protector and that Super Heroes where the enemy. Dr. Moreau build many more powers for the next year.
In 1992, Dr. Moreau had completed to some degree Dusk-8017 giving him the power of manipulating electricity to operate his machines, the power to push anything around him as a defensive technique or to force his many other experiments into cages, and the power to control Darkness as an attack so he would be protected. Before Dr. Moreau could install his Fail safe program, the Battle of Detroit started and the remaining team of DEMI discovered the thought to be dead Dusk-8017 and brought back memories and recruited the renamed Duskbolt back into DEMI. Sadly, during the Battle of Detroit the members of DEMI died in battle. Duskbolt swore revenge on all the villains which caused all of the problems in the world. The Cyborg in him tries to fight the good in him causing him to be a little unstable.
I've a question, and it's not strictly Champions centric. I hope we have some D&D know-how around here.
I got a hit of nostalgia a while back and it reminded me of something I saw on the Internet years ago. I believe it was a piece of D&D artwork or from some other fantasy setting, though it may or may not have been official. It featured two adventurers in a dungeon corridor with a set of steps going off the left side of the picture. One was a woman - a mage, I believe - but my interest is in the other.
He was a barbarian, but he had something peculiar. Behind him was the transparent, ghostly outline of a monster's torso. The description called it a Silhouette Demon - it was bound to the barbarian and it made the same motions he did, in effect augmenting his attacks with its own.
There are more recent examples of the same thing, that I've seen - Devil May Cry 4's Nero character gets access to his own version of the Devil Trigger halfway through the game, which manifests itself as the ghostly outline of Virgil's demon form following his exact movements.
Am I mistaken in thinking this was from D&D, does anyone know where I might find more info about this, does anyone happen to know the piece of artwork I mean and is there anything similar to this in the Champions setting?
Comments
In hindsight it would've been better to just post it in here since im looking for thoughts and suggestions on it, so please fire away if you get a chance.
Glad to be of some help Always a help to bounce things off of other people....
As to the name, it could have been a codename he had on a mission that stuck, and now he uses it as a "super" name. Arsenal that is, but Warrant works too
Devil Squid: I've already gone over this character on this thread.
Please help! Thanks in advance!
When I heard that Defender was recruiting heroes, I flew (yes thats another part of my powers that I discovered) down to Millennium City to use my power however I could and hopefully become more powerful in the meantime.
need some help and wanna see what u think
Well, what do you think?

That's all i really know so far. Thanks!

since everyone seems to get a lot shorter prevs I'll see if I can make one...
Before we can Help theres a few Things that we need too know..... True Basics are...
Hero Name/Codename: (Pretty self Explanitaty)
Actual Name: (unless one and the same as above...)
Origin: (I.e. Mutant, Experiment, Super soldier, Normal Smoo with hi-tech Gear?)
Birthplace: (sometimes Important.. and can Flavour Why/How he becomes a hero)
Family: (Does he/she have any? What happened too them if not, or are they an Oprhan. If an orphan who motivated them)
Power Definitions: (important for Understanding how the Character can Grow, Not something Essential at Generation. Bearing in mind that this is mostly for Your own Use and not what the Character understands of them)
What If's: (Sometimes its useful too get an Idea of you Character if you go Though a set of "What If" it can help create a personality profile for you too Use. Once you have that it can be used too help create Defineing moments in there past/history as too Why they are like this.)
Hopefully with a little of the Above you can get a Guideline too help us and yourself with creating your Characters History.
you do, trust me.
your being here and wanting a character of your own, with its own story, proves that.
I'll put an Example of one of mine up soonish....

Irrelevant
What makes you feel Sad? Again Irrelevant
What annoys you? Unnecessary Questions
What infuriates you?
I do not like doing it, But I find it difficult too not do it as I have no other way of Obtaining Parts and upgrades.
http://www.my-champions.com/character.php?id=123 <<<This is my character's page.
Any help fleshing out these ideas would be great.
