The only way this would be good, is if it leads to T6 Miracle Worker seating 23c. Connie, D-7 and T'Liss ships in the C-Store. After all, the original Star Trek "Miracle Worker" was Scotty...who just happens to be in the screenshot in the blog post.
"No bloody A, B, C, OR D!"
But in any case, I'm very glad to see more healing and tanking in the game, especially something as big as a new primary specialization.
Now, it would also be REAAALLLY nice if you guys could merge the strategist and commando specializations, too. I don't really like having to switch between them both every time I change maps.
That would be nice, but I'd not hold your breath. The Connie is still too big a money maker for them. Sad that they have to hold the most iconic ship hostage, but they do.
At least now we know why they switched the name for Engineering Miracle Wor....
As it is, flying an Engineer on anything but an escort is largely worthless because the power formerly known as miracle worker wasn't needed on a cruiser or sci-ship.
I'm not saying people never die, but only people with bare bones gear really do. Mk XII stuff, no rep or mission sets, level 40 ships.
And frankly, you'd be able to quickly get better gear (and even a ship) than maxing out this spec.
I realize there is elite content in the game I supposed this may be useful for that, but realistically, how many people do that? 100? 200?
> Not super excited about this right now, but I'll reserve judgement until a full release. Might help out with squishier ships.
Agreed. Even my Bird of Prey can take a nice beating these days and survive well. My Klingon ships are almost invulnerable when I'm paying attention to damage to my ship.
I'm more interested in the bridge officer seating. Could this lead to a T6 Vor'Cha or K'vort?
There's a special exception: the combination of MW (specifically, Punch It!) and Commando (Follow Through) can make the former a DPS-boosting spec if you like to do most of your wet work with, say, a bat'leth. Cherry with Close Quarters Combatant and/or the melee boosts from various other places (the 3-piece Adapted MACO; Dylovene injection, etc.)...
I realize the best fit would probably be triggers for engineer type powers that sci and tac would lack and it probably seemed too easy to make the triggers ranged weapon associated... but melee? Perhaps they could have been associated with kit module usage... I mean, who would be the most likely inventor/maintainer of said kits? Probably an engineer/miracle worker.
This is something I have been hoping for, or maybe where you can choose a ground setup and space setup where it would switch between them automatically depending on what type of map you were on.
In relation to the post itself, I'm a fan of regen and this sounds quite nice, but probably not nice enough for me to drop my normal specs.
Also, Percussive Maintenance feels like it was a throw away skill. I'm not sure anyone who uses melee regularly would actually be served by using this spec over any of the others. I could be wrong. The increased healing would be desirable, but I would also think that buffs from Intel and/or Commando would be more beneficial to help defeat mobs quicker.
Until I can actually see the entire tree and sus out a few things, I'm not going to get overly excited.

I'll bite if it includes the Ambassador, Kamarag, and Steamrunner.

Oooo, what if it's the proper, probert ambassador?! Yus please. But specialization ships are almost always "cryptic original" trek-inspired ships. I'm just curious if they might lean toward the constitution or galaxy styling of the two miracle worker's they have on display.
yeah, how's that gonna work in space?
what are you supposed to do - hail them and call them all sorts of mean names? annoy the TRIBBLE out of them by blasting a justin beiber song over their comm system?
#LegalizeAwoo
A normie goes "Oh, what's this?"
An otaku goes "UwU, what's this?"
A furry goes "OwO, what's this?"
A werewolf goes "Awoo, what's this?"
"It's nothing personal, I just don't feel like I've gotten to know a person until I've sniffed their crotch."
"We said 'no' to Mr. Curiosity. We're not home. Curiosity is not welcome, it is not to be invited in. Curiosity...is bad. It gets you in trouble, it gets you killed, and more importantly...it makes you poor!"
The more ships and ship variants, the better! I don't think this game could ever have too many ships for everyone to enjoy.

> For a "tanking" spec to work STO needs 2 things Cryptic seems unwilling to give us 1)a relible aggro multiplier (so that you can relibly compete with aggro with DPS builds without nerfing your durability) 2)a baseline taunt, something akin to tier 5 competative rep ability but as baseline for tanks, you can even do it so that ability works as taunt when tanking but as an aggro dump when not tanking.
What about threat and command attract fire?
That and as many +threat embassy consoles as your ship can slot.
Please bring back Chris Doohan
Geordi? Not so much. But Scotty?
Who started a bar room brawl against a room full of Klingons in The Trouble With Tribbles?
Who was thrilled to grab a Claymore and melee Klingons on the Enterprise in Day of the Dove?
Who tried to beat up the god Apollo single-handedly? (Admittedly, the thunderbolt stopped him quickly, but still.)
Who physically attacked a probe (Nomad) that fired shots equivalent to 90 photon torpedoes? (Admittedly, it's screens stopped him quickly, but still.)
Who butchered a bunch of Argelians with a knife? (Admittedly, he was possessed by Jack the Ripper at the time, but still.)
Scotty didn't shy away from melee.
